i can't take glucosamine i have tried it but only to find out i have allergy....it has shell fish contents...any alternative of glucosamine without shell fish content i badly needed it...i have joint problem
I think a good diet supplemented by Glucosamine Sulphate and regular exercise to stimulate the joint areas will work. I agree with the good doctor here that it is not a fix in itself and the big pharma does love to promote its miracle cures for commercial reasons. The success stories appear to come from people who have healthy active lifestyles - if you are not moving around or eating poorly then no amount of any suplement will help - just common sense.
I play a lot of tennis and do tons of drills, which are extremely tough on the joints, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles and the back - I also used to do a lot of running and use the gym approx 3 hours a day and I am 46. I have been taking glucosamine for over 10 years as a preventative measure and I have never suffered joint pains. I always knew that I had to maintain a rigorous active lifestyle because I put on weight easy especially in middle age - so I took precautions and it works ...

Very odd. I had osteoarthritis since I was eight. The doctors wanted to replace some of my joints but my parents wouldn't let them. In my thirties I tried 1500mg of glucosamine sulphate and 500mg of chrondroitin sulphate. No other supplements whatsoever. I was cured in three weeks. Now I take it a couple of times a year. Whats more it has worked on every single person I ever gave some to (takes about six weeks on average). Every single one. Now I'm trying it with a dog.
I'm with you on the pharma companies being down right evil. I hike alot and have no issues. I don't have any issues thou I'm genetically predisposed. I don't smoke, drink,or take cafiene & maintain a very active lifestyle. The biggest problem I see is our co-dependence (got a prob, pop a pill) on pills for our ills. Some where in there I could safely say that the pharma companies could be liable for crimes against humanity.
I have JRA and i used to take Indometacin (NSAID) for 18 years and Etoricoxib (COX-2) for 3 years. 1 month ago I started Glucosamine (brand Kirkland). The results are remarkable. It took just 2 weeks to show results. I've now stopped all other medication. Fatigue is still a problem and I have some minor aches and pains but its bearable.
Although Glucosamine may not be effective for all arthritis patient, it can have remarkable effects for some.

I used to have arthritis pain all throughout my body, had pain for years and years, not until a friend of mine told me about an all natural, little known protein, did my pain go away.
Ive been a gym junkie 4 15 years and in the last year or so suffert bad shoulder and wrist pain. After 3 weeks of glucosamine i no longer have those pains. No shit. So dont knock it till u tryed it dr know it all!
i think it helped me too. i dont think this guy really knows what the fuck hes talking about.... sure glucostamine isnt going to make your joints 10 years younger... like some kind of miracle .. but fuckin A.. u take like 2 or 3 glucostamines a day.. ive definetley noticed less swelling in the joints and it dosnt affect your muscle gains.. might as well try it out.. i dont think it really hurts u at all its easy on the stomach
