I love this song. There's a lonely, plaintive beauty that is heart-aching. It's like he's standing alone and looking out on a hill at night looking over LA and imagining what could have been. Call me a dreamer, but that's the image I get when I hear this.
If you're an old man, like me, this has deep meaning--your life is quickly passing you bye though you thought you had all the time in the world to be who you thought you'd be, but its too late! That's what this evokes for me. Don't waste time, be who you are and do what you want to do. Trust me on this one.
