If shenmue III is made, I will crap myself. In 2005, when i was about 10, my brother owned Shenmue, I remember playing through that game so many times. It's such a fun game. And even in 2005, it had groundbreaking graphics. I'm so glad I got to play it when I did, as my brother has moved out of the house. Long live the Shenmue saga.

@ovandocarter because as recently as in the last few months in a Famitsu interview Sega expressed interest in developing Shenmue III if one of the main console manufactures would help pay the development costs in exchange for exclusivity.

when i was a youngin', shenmue 2 was the first game that i liked enough to play all the way through. even though the game kicked my butt over and over. definately going to try to find this game

Look, I know we all want Shenmue 3. But this game is the key to shenmue 3. Because these types of games are liek heroin in China and Korea it will be the key to Shenmue 3. And if it is released in the west, I urge people to buy it not pirate it. It wont be expensive anyway, even if you hate the gameplay you should get it so SEGA recognises that Shen 3 wouldnt be a flop. Yu suzuki has worked on it for some time, so I bet this game will be relatively good.

Shenmue Online has not been cancelled. Their was a temporary halt to development when JCE Entertainment discontinued their involvement. However, an unknown Tiawanese company has took over their role.

This was all confirmed in an interview GNN Gamer had with Yu Suzuki.

Shenmue Online FTMFW.... It'll be more like Runescape hence this type of game seems MORE ADVENTUROUS with all the uniqueness and being full 3d!!... It'll guarantee a success if it brings what it has to offer so far...

Just like I say... make it more adventurous in other aspects as well (as for towards all people of all ages).

yeah so its gonna be Jade empire in shenmue clothing thats a game i'm not gonna be interested in played jade empire done it. this is not shenmue the original games were not all energy attacks it was mainly jujitsu and other fighting techniques and as for the levitating swords and dragons raising from the earth that is very final fantasy NOT SHENMUE

yeah and its suzuki not 'sazuki' and just cause he says its like jade empire doesnt mean that it is jade empire its just his opinion, another thing what makes you so sure that S.O. will do as well as J.E. there aren't many games like that which do as well by 'copycating' another. besides, i like many other shenmue fans would rather have shenmue 3 not a new game of a totally different genre using shenmue characters.

yeah don't be so sure, the whole project was canned as it didnt have the popularity nor the ability to compete with other online games like world of warcraft. plus like me most fans felt that it was not true to the original games because firstly it was multiplayer when shenmue is a single player game also it was basically turning into something lke dragonball z with all of the energy attacks and stuff

I thought Yu Susuki said that he as going to remake it without the Energy Attacks... He said that there were some "Communication Issues" between the Development Team and the Producers, and that they had to "Postpone it for quite a while..."

it should work without all the energy attacks cause they just made the game seem ridiculous from what i saw plus what would you rather have shenmue online with no continuation of the storyline from shenmue 1 and 2 or do you want shenmue 3?

Shenmue Online is merely a tool to increase the Shenmue fanbase in China. It's created within the Shenmue universe but generally does not exist within the Ryo Hazuki story arc, although some parts are being added to make it authentic.

The energy attacks are a way for SEGA to seperate players based on abilities. I do believe there is every chance of them appearing in Shenmue 3 but not as obvious as this.

THIS IS THE GAME I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR?!? If this is where SHENMUE is heading, I'd rather stay in the dark. For crying out loud I haven't played a game since Shenmue... That's how compelling a story this is. If i wanted dragons and magic attacks and levitating swords i'd play final fantasy or whatever is played these days. Culture, a dark obsession, reality, untapped potential, friendship, drama & perhaps the greatest music ever composed for a game or movie ever. This is what Shenmue is(was?!?)

Korea needs to stop buying shit that they are not going to see through. They bought SNK and killed King of fighters. then they sold it back to playmore. And korea was going to help out with "the largest "FPS MMO" in the world, "HUXLEY" and that shit didn't get done. And now shenmue. They didn't see that shit through either. Word of advice, stop selling triple A titles to that country. They'll never finish anything

this game is a bit up in the air so don't get your hopes up because for the time being it has been shelved until they get the rights from JC as they pulled out of development but will not let Yu Suzuki continue with the game in case it makes money which it prob will do. so Shenmue online may still come out but not until the rights have been acquired so hang on

dear yu suzuki, dont die before youve somehow managed to realize the entire Shenmue series as a regular 1player console action adventure/rpg.

But shenmues extraordinary graphics for its time was one of the biggest elements that drasticly enhanced the storyline, and gameplay. Just be glad your getting ANY shenmue games guys really.
