  • I have never heard of this in my life. It had 13 episodes, even. What.

  • My mind simply rejected what I saw

  • Fred and Barney Meet The Thing? A horrible and awkward title

  • That intro fucked my brain

  • Blu-ray quality

  • Short lived indeed!

  • Last time I checked, Thing didn't have the ability to transform into a scrawny white kid.

  • @TheSlickAndroid The origin is right there - Kelly and her father turn Thing into Benji (instead of back to the adult Benjamin Grimm, which is what they'd intended). In fact, one of the episodes tries to change him back to his adult form again (and fails, of course, because Status Quo Is God).

Yeah, I remember this show too well, somehow.

  • @zazelby I've only seen episodes of this version of "The Thing" as fillers on CN or Boomerang years. And I had to go look it up. My jaw dropped when I saw the transformation sequence ("Thing Rings, do your thing!"). The true irony of this whole, forgive me, THING, is that the 'real' Benjamin Grimm would LOVE to have a device like the "Thing Rings" which would allow him to change back and forth between his human form and that of The Thing.

  • @TheMidknightryder13 Unless, of course, you believe that it's his subconscious fear that Alicia loves him BECAUSE he is The Thing that prevents any 'cure' Reed attempts from working. btw, does anyone know WHY it is SO DIFFICULT to find animated series based on Marvel characters on DVD? There are only a few available. I'd actually buy "The Thing" part of this series. (As I recall, the only time Fred, Barney and The Thing interact is in this intro.)

  • Could be worse. There could by lyrics. Marvel properties usually come with idiotic lyrics. "Is he strong? Listen bud. He's got radioactive blood!"

  • @steveasat2 Hey, hey hey -- there are several Marvel theme songs that are less than stellar. However, the 1967 'Theme From Spider-Man' is NOT one of them. It's FORTY-FIVE years old and people STILL remember it -- and can sing parts or all of it. But, how many people remember "When Captain America Throws His Mighty Shield"? (It's here on You Tube, if you want to look it up.)

  • @TheMidknightryder13 True dat. Rhyming "shield" with "yield" and "shield" again verges on being a felony. Imagine what they'd have dredged up for "Thing". Oh wait, the whole premise of the cartoon was based on a rhyme, "Thing-Ring do your thing!" Jeez, Stan never ceased to marvel at the fact that a word rhymes with itself, did he? (Okay, to be fair, DC's Batman theme was just one word over and over.)

  • @steveasat2 You have a point about the 1966 "Batman" theme, but can you REALLY call those LYRICS? Also, it's not as if Bob Kane was directly involved with that show. As to the Cap theme, as I recall there were 4 other heroes involved in that show (The Hulk, The Sub-Mariner, Thor and Iron Man) and they ALL had theme songs. But Cap's is the only I can recall -- so can you imagine how bad the other ones were?

  • @TheMidknightryder13 The Hulk song is audio torture, but SM's tune finally settles the debate over whether his name is pronounced "sub-ma-REEN-er" or not.

  • I'm more upset at the fact that some kid turned into the Thing' lol

Always changing the original story lol

  • And in the comics. Archie meets the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

  • @theburntshadow Don't forget he met The Punisher too.

  • I love early 80's animation. Or is it the late 70's?

  • What's next? George Jetson meets Spider-Man?

  • @navinkb100 or george j as spiderman.

  • And to think I actually watched this as a kid.

    Good times.

  • If Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein can become a bona fide classic, I see no reason this can't be.....

  • KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

  • Just cracked up at the shark rowing away in the boat!

  • Best Show ever!!!

  • what year is this from ?

  • Was this a hoax? If not, then I can't wait for Unicron meets the Smurfs to come out.

  • weird, lol

  • 0:28 probably the most underwhelming beatdown I've ever seen.

  • At least it's better then some of the crap they show today!!!!

  • LOL at the shark!

  • Worst thing I could have watched whilst being drunk. I feel like the 1970s have just beat me up for my shoes.

  • What. The. Hell.

The creators of this show must have been free basing on a daily basis!

  • @zenobia10127 Hey, this is the SAME era that gave us "The Scooby Doo/Little Rascals/Richie Rich/Pac-Man Show" (or something like that. I seem to recall that the Monchichis were in there somewhere, too.) For some reason, network execs felt that combining unrelated features into one giant program would keep the viewers tuned in.

  • It was the 70's, whatta expect? All sorts of weird stuff was crossed over then. Dont forget the Harlem Globtrotters meet Snow White. Somewhere, a group of animators are looking back and saying "What the f*** were we thinking? Well...it was a job. Now lets finish those Sponge-Bob storyboards."

  • @TWMAN454 I loved this cartoon sooo much growing up in Nigeria, Africa in the early 80s. I really missed the ound track. many thanks for the post, theelusiveyeti.

  • @TWMAN454 Of course many of these guys either retired or are dead these days (the young though had it pretty rough in their early starts in this industry then).

  • Were they high? Am I high?

  • Oh christ, how much acid must you drop to see this?

  • "Why...." that is all I can say about everything in this

  • So... where is the Fonz? He's the only one missing here. Even the shark is there

  • Jeezus - what god damned drugs were they on??

  • Cracked bitches

  • this happened?

  • ahh..The Golden Age when nothing made sense, and franchises that had nothing in common merged just to get more viewers and money.

  • So... not only do they turn the thing back into a person kinda ruining the whole point of him but they also make him a teenager?!

    The hell?!

  • WHAT

  • No, seriously. Why!?

  • Why?

  • la mole uno de los mejores dibujos animados de mi infafancia sigan bajando capitulos en castellano

  • I just read about this in a book today and had to see if it was real.

    I wish I hadn't <=0(

From what I read, I don't know why they even bothered optioning the Thing character, if they were going to change so much about it. They may as well have just given this character his own name and given him a different design.

  • WORST CARTOON EVER!!!!

  • I remember bits and pieces of this show when i was a kid. A doctor and his daughter, while attempting too cure the Thing, instead caused him too revert too a human teenage version of himself. One episode I do remember was when the doctor developed some kind of cure, where he was ordered too not turn into the Thing for so many hours. But he had too too save his friends.

  • Heres an idea Batman and Robin meet the Mystery Ga wait they already did that one...sadly. K hows about Bugs Bunny vs Deadpool. who honestly wudn't remortgage their house 2 c that fight

  • My.god. Just...my god

  • I was always kind of curiois about this as much as I hate to admit

  • MARVEL VS HANNA BARBERA XD

  • Hey I got one Captain Planet meets the Thundercats

  • This makes the Super-Friends cartoon look like fuckin' Shakespeare.

  • @swingersfan

That's because the fuckin' super friends were shakespeare

  • @melloncollieromance Can you say that about DC's live action shows? I think not.

  • Fred and Barney were shown with The Thing during intermission skits between episodes, but never together in a cartoon feature. Fred and Barney only appeared with "The Shmoo" or "Captain Caveman." But I love this show, too bad Boomerang never played it :(

  • I don't think I will ever call another crossover matchup stupid again.

  • Well this crossover was random. Quick Draw and Ricochet Rabbit should have a crossover.

  • I'm not going to lie, I don't get it.

  • Aneis magicos,entrem em ação.

  • what other ideas were Hanna Barberra thinking of? Shaggy and Scooby Doo meet Spiderman, The Jetsons and Deadpool Family Hour, Quickdraw Mcgraw and Jonah Hex, wait I have an idea Tom and Jerry meet the Punisher.

  • @CyberSpartan66 EPIC LOL XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • @CyberSpartan66 At the risk of being a geek, Deadpool wasn't introduced until 1991.

  • @swingersfan Agreed

  • @CyberSpartan66 To be fair, The Scooby gang met Batman & Robin, Twice! and will do it again on Batman The brave and the bold.

  • Worlds craziest crossovers :D

    "It's Clobberin' Time!"

    "Yabba Dabba Doo!"

  • It just doesn't seem right without the Harlem Globetrottrs.

  • i wonder if that's ben grimm from f f...

  • @devidfrank Yes it is...kinda!

  • I do not like what the thing does to that group of motorcycles. As a motorcycle rider, that is wrong what thing did to those bikes. I saw this as a kid and was cussing at the thing after what he did to those motorcycles. I could have gotten 6 bars of soap or a bottle of mouthwash if you heard what I said then.

  • this is totally out of the The Thing story arc....how come he met the Flinstones? and how come he is a young boy?? and how come he can come back to human form with a ring?

  • @adrianko2001 trick is that: he DOESNT meet them at ALL!

  • @martianmister to quote Stan Lee circa 1985: "Norman Lear wanted to produce a Marvel cartoon via Hanna-Barbera and had mentioned he always liked the Thing. He also asked if I could come up with a way the Thing could pal around like Archie but still be the Thing when needed. I knew comics, he had the #1 show; if that's what he wanted, that MUST BE what will work!"

At least Stan knew he was out of his element....

  • Up next: Yogi and Boo-boo meet Spawn!

  • @albee1000 - Well, I know *I* would want to watch a Yogi & Boo-Boo / Spawn team-up...

  • @albee1000 awesome

  • @albee1000 What channel is this on? (Just kidding.) I would see that!

  • @albee1000 Spawn would make one bad ass park ranger, that's for sure.

  • @albee1000 How about the Top Cat, Mighty Thor Comedy Adventure Hour?

  • Yes,in the tradition of the Groovie Goolies meeting the Looney Tunes comes.....!

  • I think this was just a legend.

  • @cavazitos No, sadly, it was 4-realz.

  • Wow I remember this COOL!
