I love Vai too, but Sykes "IS" the only Whitesnake guitarist and I love that video of Sykes solo doing "Badboys"---his sound is much thicker and dirtier and his style of playing is amazing. I'd love to see Sykes with the 'Snake" again --- and playing his 1974 Les Paul custom. Cheers

@TheShuma94 Hey, don't get me wrong, I like Aldrich too and I think their "Forevermore" album is the best one since "Slip of The Tongue" and even though I like Steve Vai, I didn't think that he suited Whitesnake as much as Aldrich or Sykes. DC "did" pick a great guitar player for Whitesnake when he chose Aldrich. He's kinda got that cool Randy Rhoads look about him too and loves Les Pauls too. Cheers!!

Mr Tommy Aldridge. A machine on drums. The custom cage and carbon fibre drums were cutting edge. The drum mounting system allowed the kit to float in the cage. This set up allowed for the kit to be handled as one unit minus cymbals and be picked up by a mechanical arm with a hook and put into a road case. Insane to see it live.

And No body does a hand solo like Tommy. I wish Steve Vai would use him for a drummer on his lastest shows.

steve vai really made turned the whitesnake sound into his own when he joined. everything sounds happier lol. but i prefer the live in the still of the night lineup.

after listening to the "live in the still of the night" version this dont sound to good. In my opinion the best ws-lineup was back then (2005?). All respect to Vai but listen to Crying i the rain solo and compare it to either Dougs or Johns versions. Or listen to any of Dougs guitarplay on "live in the still of the night" He sounds so much more WS than Vai.
