  • do you know what the colouring of your hedgehog is, such as cinnamon, chocolate, salt and pepper or otherwise? I love the colour and I'm getting a hedgehog soon

  • @IAmMackey

    Algerian Chocolate

  • Watch out for the bad ass hedgehog at ...23 sec

  • I love my hedgehog. Great pictures.

  • At the beginning of this video I was like "oh great another slideshow" but afterwards I was thinking that was actually kinda cute ****

  • This is exactly what Sonic is. Sonic is an African Pygmy Hedgehog.

  • Bear says HI! :)

  • I have a hedgie Jazz!lets just say it is hard to get her out of her cage after that she will crawl over you lol one time she was on my back lucky my friend was able to get jazz!

  • WTF he is winking like sonic at 0:38

  • @thealsomeness allso dont get a wired one, they can climb up it fall down and hurt them selves. you want a plastic roof one. as far as ive heard anyway.

  • What is name of this music?

  • @nenecousa

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker

  • @nenecousa gay fag music..ISNT IT GREAT?!?!?

  • so. freakin. cute. i'm picking up my hedgie to bring home next week when he's ready to eat and drink without his mother :)

  • i wanttt onee :(

  • Adorable!

  • @thealsomeness

Whether or not being poked will hurt really depends on one's tolerance to pain.

I have a freakishly high pain tolerance so it does not bother me.

  • @thealsomeness

The bigger the cage the better.

In general, they are fairly easy to take care of but beware and be warned...in order to keep them socialized requires that you take them out of their cage everyday for at least one hour. Otherwise, you will end up with a huffy puffy ball of spikes.

  • @thealsomeness

Size varies. I have had hedgehogs who were as small as half a pound in weight to larger ones (like Barley) who were one pound.

Hedgehogs are legal in all of Canada. For a list of places where they are legal/illegal you can check out Hedgehog Central's website.

  • @thealsomeness

I have had 4, and Barley was one of them!

  • @thealsomeness

If they are legal where you live, you certainly can keep them as pets!

  • ti`s so cute!!!^^

  • You have such lovely pictures. I really enjoyed looking at them. Are you a photographer also?

  • @liveloveandhugs

Nope...not a photographer whatsoever...though the first and last three pictures were taken by a photographer.

  • 2 people where the guys who had him before this video

  • he is like duurrrrrrr hurrrrrrrrrr

  • that is the some breed as sonic^^ BUT IS IS SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!

  • OMG he is so cute!!!! =-D

  • is it illegal to have a hedgehog as a pet in California?

  • @transform911

"Hedgehogs are illegal in the entire state of California. California has a law that deems all animals not specifically listed as legal under State law as being illegal by default. Until such time as California's Department of Fish and Game is willing to consider hedgehogs for legal status, they will continue to be considered contraband pets and may be confiscated and either moved out of state or destroyed" (Hedgehog Central).

  • @SamatranTiger so i cant have it all at. gAY

  • Pets mart?... nvm ill look into it. Thanks so much.

  • @xOxClaireOxO

I do not advise purchasing anything from Petsmart. Avoid pet stores that sell animals as they are places you do not want to support.

  • I'm sorry. I was reading through the comments. Where did you find a wheel that doesn't have the wire holes in it? I don't want izzys little feet to get stuck and hurt her. I'd feel awful if that happened. Maybe

  • @xOxClaireOxO

A bucket wheel is without a doubt the best. The only place to get these types of wheels are through a breeder or someone who makes them...OR you could make one yourself of course!

  • I do know no direct sunlight, I keep the house dark, I know what to feed her, mainly good kitty food, carrots, etc. I'm working on getting a bigger cage. Will she chew through plastic like they have at pet stores? And I know she needs a bath like once a month right? Sorry to ask so much. I just want to give her the best home possible.

  • @xOxClaireOxO

She will not chew through the plastic. However, my suggestion would be to build a C&C cage.

Furtheremore, how often you give a hedgheog a bath will vary depending on how fast and how dirty they get. (Some hedgehogs require their feet to be cleaned every day whereas others only once a week. In general though, a good scrub down once a month is ideal in addition to the frequent cleaning of their poopy feet!)

  • @xOxClaireOxO

Also, you do not want to keep her in a location that is consistently dark. You want it to be light during the day and dark at night...just as it would be outside in the wild for them.

Consistency in lighting is also helpful as it helps them to establish a routine.

  • I just recently rescued a hedgehog. She belonged to my younger brother and he didn't know how to care for her and I'm home all the time so I figured is give her a better chance at a good life. Lol she is very tempermental. She constantly hisses. Maybe she's not used to me yet? And how do I get her used to me? I try to "play" or let her roam the house for exercise and get use to surroundings but nothing is working yet... if you have any suggestions id love to hear them.

  • @xOxClaireOxO

Check out the forum at Hedgehog Central. You will find many suggestions and tips on how to socialize your hedgehog. (If you have any questions you cannot find answers to, send me an email and I will gladly answer any questions you may have).

  • Awww

  • Wow. 42-45 second mark is the derpiest hedgehog I've ever seen.

  • that is sooo fucking cute they are cuter than a mother fucking arab i want one so i can make it hump my rabbit

  • @MeBeTehLemon

A hedgehog should be on a mixture of high quality cat foods...

  • 0:50 lmao hangover XD

  • @MeBeTehLemon

Every week or two is perfectly fine. When I say bath I do not necessarily mean a full out bath. A hedgehog's feet need to be cleaned every week or two as they defecate and urinate in their wheels and then run through it.

I do, however, give all of my hedgehogs a full bath once a month with an oatmeal based soap. In addition, I apply Vitamin E oil to their skin after I bathe them.

Every hedgehog is different so modify bath time to meet the needs of your spikey little friend!

  • Barley is so handsome!

  • Nyaaaawwww :33

These are the most cutest hedgie pictures EVER <33

  • do they smell? I've had rats, hamsters, mice, ferrets, ect. and the smell is unbearable. So are they similar to these in smell?

  • @laurenro0lz

Hedgehogs are very clean and have no odour whatsoever so long as you bathe them every week or two, spot clean their cages daily, and change the liners/bedding at least once a week.

In addition, reducing odors can also be achieved by litter training.

  • @laurenro0lz lol mine is smelly even after a bath XD

  • your hedgie is soo cute i really want one but i live in california and its hard to find one

  • It’s a hedgehog people. Calm down.

  • Do you mind tellign me, how do you get yoru hedsgehog accustomed to yo uand his/her surroundings? I had mien for a week and just began to try and socialize w/ him. I did the scent trick where I put articles of clothing in his hide, but it appears he doesn't really like to move around until everything is all peaceful (no TV on and all lights, including desk lamps, turned off). I understand they're nocturnal, but my hedgey won't walk about unless all lights (even TV and PC lights) are off.

  • @SlenderTroll Woops; quite a few spelling errors in my first sentence. Sorry about that.

  • 0:05 durrr

  • @ConstintinosRecon hahahahhaha

  • @Samatrantiger thx well I just found someone who has some so I'm so excited I can't wait!!

  • You have the cutest hedgie ever!!! Um what pet store did u get him from please tell me!!!

  • @missmusic617

Always get an animal from a reputable breeder or rescue organization. NEVER buy from a pet store.

  • So Cute!!!! *_* I love it! <3

  • Oober cute but kinda scary music O.O

  • this video makes me feel uneasy

  • @HannahHartleyTait

Absolutely not!! All my hedgehogs are socialized and thus friendly. However, they do have their off days where they get all huffy puffy but even then getting poked really doesn't bother me! (btw...I have a high tolerance to pain so I may not be the best person to be asking!)

  • Oh this is adorable : )

I love hedgehogs....nice photos especially the legs in the air lol

    Sugar Plum Fairy...nice!

  • @HannahHartleyTait

One...hmmm....that is exactly what I said and I ended up with FOUR.

Remember though, a reputable breeder or rescue organization is the way to go!

  • Are they legal in North Carolina? And how much do they usually cost?

  • @Anon2076

Hedgehogs certainly are legal in North Carolina! Check out Hedgehog Central for a list of breeders.

As for the cost of a hedgehog...that depends on many factors such as the breeder, colour, and gender. However, some breeders have flat rates for males and females regardless of their colour. It just depends.

  • @SamatranTiger are they leagal in illinois? *thinks: please say yes, please say yes, please say yes!!*

  • @Jordan2000son

YES! Hedgehogs are legal in Illinois.

  • Where I live there are many wild hedgehogs. I was once driving in my car and saw a hedgehog in the middle of the street. I instantly pulled over and took off my scarf to wrap it around him. I carried him back into the deep forrest and told him to never walk back on the street again! :)

  • where did you get him cuz im getting one and we dont know where the petshop is

  • @hannahbabycakes123

NEVER buy an animal from a pet store. Instead, Look into adopting one from a rescue organization or purchase one from a breeder.

  • 1:06 he look fat :)) no offense

  • @BULA9000

None taken...he was a little chubby then...that is why he is swimming....exercise!

  • I want one so bad but they are illegal in my state. :(

  • @xXMrGreenEyes24Xx Same could you tell me what is your state? if yours is same as me i got a breeder but i not very sure since i havent order anything form him yet

  • @AntiBlast Arizona

  • i want 1 sooo bad!!

  • 1:18 AWWW I LOVE IT

  • I just bought a hedgie yesterday and we had a great first night. He was happy i think because of his constant purring but he still wont let me pick him up. He keeps rolling up and huffing. What can i do to make this less frequent?

  • It's so sweet...

  • OH MY GOD CUTIE

    im getting a hedgehog

do you have any tips on which one to choose

    PLEASE REPLY

  • Hello,

I just recently also bought a hedgehog from our local pet store, he was covered in his own feces and not cared for properly either and I just couldn't say no to him! He too is terrified and hisses and doesn't come out of his little ball really at all when I try to take him out. Just wondering what you did to help your hedgehog socialized and timid around people

  • i have a hedgie too his name is harley hey that rhymes! XD

  • do they bite and does it hurt if u pick them up im thinkin bout gettin 1

  • @dizzydan2

    Anything with teeth can bite!

As for picking them up, it does not hurt. However, that is just my opinion!

  • @dizzydan2 it can hurt, but it all depends. if the hedgehog is happy, calm and relaxed, then it shouldn't hurt one bit. However, if the hedgehog is angry or scared, then it will hurt. That is their main sorce of self-defence after all. :3 As for biting: It does hurt, but it's nothing serious.

  • cutie pie!!!

  • nice quills

  • aww so sweet! can't wait til i get my hedgie!

  • what a cute little hedgehog :)

  • Beautiful pictures!

  • 0:44 so funny

  • lol

  • I lol'd too! The eyes aren't even focused!!! So beady.

    CUTE!!!

  • wonderful,too much hard,a love!!!!!

  • Oh my god. I think I just overdosed on cute.

  • i know this must sound ignorant but are those spikes on its back oris it just furr that sticks together?

  • @BlahxOi

Hedgehogs do have spikes, and yes, they can be sharp, but usually not sharp enough to really hurt unless you're pressing on too hard (which would probably hurt the hedgehog too). As long as you're gentle, you don't get hurt.

  • @BlahxOi

They're quills...so yes, spikes if you prefer!

  • @SamatranTiger actually... they're not called quills. They're spikes. Quills would be able to come off. And a hedgehog's spikes shouldn't come off (if they do, then something's wrong).

I don't mean to sound ignorante, just wanted to inform you.

  • @SnowDoggyD

You are absolutely right SnowDoggyD!!! I always forget that!!

  • whats the music played backround?

  • its from the nutcracker ballet

  • lol your hedgehog is soo funny!

  • @BananaAndPear

All pictures were taken by me except for the ones that appear smaller (I believe there are four of them...they were taken by a photographer)

  • That was absolutely adorable... my goodness lol

Are they like rats where they bug their eyes out if they're super duper happy?

  • He's such a cutie.
