Actually false, football is a full COLLISION sport, and most of the hits does not involve the helmet. The most dangerous hits are helmet to helmet, but as you can see, most of the hits here are delivered with the shoulder. Rugby and Australian Rules Football on the other hand are collision sport, but it's full, because you cannot launch your body at another player as you can in football.
