  • Circuit City lives on at Circuit City.com.

  • small picture...BIG picture...every employee is responsible for the reputation of the company's brand. It sucks when such a few take pride in their work when the majority don't put in the same amount of effort. Did not have many positive experiences with CC with the lack of knowledgeable employees.

  • "Good company at heart?"... I think they needed to clean house in their Public Relations department.

  • I think people are only saying Circuit City is bad because the customers cannot get their way. Heck, I only bought a TV (back in 06, no problems and loved the price) and loads of video games thanks to the Gamer's Club (which in 2008, had improved after about two years with a fancy card, offers etc.).

I've NEVER had a problem with Circuit City. They had the best deals when it came to my interests.

I also like Best Buy (shop there now), but I really liked Circuit City more...

  • i miss circuit city and they hade relly good deals time to time i think they should bring them back to the stores

  • @iamaGod357 Do not post these comments on my videos any longer please, they're very disrespectful and disruptive to people trying to enjoy these videos.

  • @iamaGod357 This has nothing to do with the video, therefore I am deleting the comment. Also, the personal message you sent to me was disgusting. Please grow up and get a life.

  • i was there too....3159 PFT!!!! best job i ever had

  • I think it was really fucked up how CC's liquidation company jacked up the "already low prices." Circuit City's last chance to fuck us in the ass I guess.

  • As i've explained before, those prices weren't 'jacked up' at all. Those were the MSRP prices, but most brick-and-mortar stores sell at below that to encourage people to come in the store rather than shop online. When the liquidators took over, they simply returned the prices to MSRP. Every liquidator does that, regardless of the store or company.

  • actually it's the opposite. Most of the time when liquidators take over they jack up the prices to higher than before except with 75%, 50%, or some amazing sale written across the price tag. Check it out for yourself, it's all over Youtube and the internet. Linens and Things did the same thing when they went out of business

  • Like I said, the price does rise in comparison with the way it was in the store, but the price hike is completely legal because the price they rise it to is the MSRP. They do then put sale stickers on them when they raise it to slightly under MSRP, but mostly it's just a sale tag with the 'percent off' section not even written on because there really is no percent off. The tag is just meant to draw attention.

  • I must say I will miss a part of my experience with this company every day. I was given opportunities and experience that I will use in decisions for the rest of my life. Thank you for taking the time to defend what many of us stood for.

  • Thank you for your comments! I was happy to defend Circuit, I didn't want the company to go down without speaking my mind about what I loved about it.

  • I worked for this company through high school and left about a year before the doors shut. I left when I knew, of decisions that were coming would transform the company into something I could no longer support and would in my opinion, no longer sustain itself. It is because of people like you, and the other people on the ground that our company was able to hang on as long as it was! I truly enjoyed working for this company, and was able to rapidly move up the management ladder.

  • I worked for circuit city twice over the past 10 years....the second time I worked there i saw how terribly the company was run. The economy had very little to do with their downfall. The corporate entities stomped out every positive aspect that company had. They should all be ashamed of themselves and how they destroyed what was one of the biggest electronic retailers in the world.

  • I agree with you. Stores like Best Buy are still holding on in this economy, and there was no reason why Circuit couldn't have held on either, except that corporate, Phil Schoonover in particular, destroyed it from the inside out. They laid off long-time workers who were paid too much and replaced them with teenagers who had never worked in retail before, and it ruined the customer service and killed the morale of the company.

  • I remember as a kid, I always went to Circuit City whenever I want something. It was my favorite electronic retailer since it was closer to my home than other retailers. Now as I drove by, it doesn't even have the CC symbol on top of it.

    It's just sad man

  • It really is; I drove by my old store the other day and I got a bit teary-eyed. A lot of people have told me of memories they have of going to CC. Thanks for sharing your memory!

  • hey its matt from store 3668, how is the job seach going?

  • Well, I wound up having to file for unemployment =/ It's been tough, but I have a bunch of places I'm going to apply to, so hopefully something will come of that. Until then, I'm doing my best to use my downtime to work on my writing, my photography, see my friends, and just remember what it's like to breath and enjoy life XD How are you doing?

  • I loved CC and i just cant believe that this is really happening, i cant believe that i will never walk into another CC store again.

R.I.P CC, you will always be in my thoughts

  • I miss it too. I drove by my old store the other day and it was the weirdest thing to see it all dark with nobody inside.

  • i did ,that did not intrest me no offense.someone i think sent it to me reccomended it i mean.

  • Thank you for your reply and your kind words. Best of luck in the future to you as well!

  • I'm so glad i turned down the job offer for Circuit City, to work for.... BEST BUY!

  • Well, BB is the next to go =D No more competition means vendors make less money, so they make less product, so BB sells less, and they eventually will spiral out too. Just hope the economy gets back up before that happens.

  • Its also the best time to look into starting up your own company.

  • Comment removed

  • Time to go back to school

  • With what money? Not only is it impossible to get loans, but I nor anyone else I know has any money left. Most of the people I work with are taking money out of their college funds to pay bills.

  • I work for a North Carolina Circuit City, and the day I found out about us going out of business, I took it pretty rough, but I'm now just taking it one day at a time and enjoying it while I can. I'm a Product Flow guy, and I have alotta pride in my department and my store, and you're right about it hurting because all times had. thanks for posting this though, 'cause it really shows how many associates feels.

  • Thank you for your response! Taking it one day at a time is all we can really do. Best of luck to you and your team!

  • I Went to Circuit City Today In Mesquite,Tx and I Bought Movies and other stuff and i was very upset to see the signs that said "Going Out Of Business" i saw that and i cried and told myself that once i walk out of here i will never see it again after March 2009. and how is your store liquidation sale going i saw alot of stuff still there alot of TV'S Were Gone. and games and stuff were gone I Cried Leaving Circuit City.

    Michael Salazar

January 31st 2009 Went To Circuit City

  • Yeah, its crazy to see all of the signs. Our store is a madhouse, stuff flung everywhere, items in pieces, its insane. We have the largest store on Long Island, so its always pretty crazy on weekends, but with the liquidation its like a whole other world.

  • GO TO RADIO SHACK :)

  • You don't want to know how often I say that! =D

  • It looks like I will be joining in the same boat that you are in. I just heard that Sears/Kmart might be next ones are going out of business this year. I work at Kmart and I have been working there for part-time for 2 and half years and it's the only job that I got right now and I'm on social security benefits too. :(

  • I heard that years ago KMart was in big trouble too, but bounced back. Unfortunately, this economy makes it impossible for such a comeback. I hope this doesn't happen to you!

  • I hope it doesn't either. I hope our new president Barack Obama get our economy back on track soon. I really hate see my company or any other great company go down. I feel sad that Circuit City isn't going be around anymore. You guys were a good store and one of the best place to get new computers. I really would hate to see Best Buy be next. That is one of my other favorite stores too.

  • Well everyone is talking about how well BB is doing now that CC is going down, but that's because we're still here. Once the liquidation is over and we're gone, Best Buy will be a monopoly. No competition means less money, less sales, and Best Buy WILL be the next to go. The question is, can they hang on until Obama fixes the economy?

We're sad that we won't be around for our customers anymore either! =(

  • What Day do you return back to work enjoy it while it lasts.

    Michael Salazar

  • I return today actually. I went into the store yesterday to get my hours...it was like a whole other world. When I get home today, I should have the time to make another video like I promised, so =D

  • I bought a Compaq Presario CQ50-142US from this company and i'm pretty happy with my purchase.

It only took about twenty minutes to go into the store, find out the information of the computer, and walk out with my brand new laptop.

It saddens me that they will be closing, I just hope there is a way to keep a warranty on my laptop.

Good luck on finding a new job, and great video(s).

  • Thank you for your reply and well-wishes!

Our protection plans are backed by General Electric (GE), or if you live in New York, Assurant Solutions. You will have no problems calling the numbers that were given to you at purchase to use your protection plan, so don't worry =D.

I'm also glad that we were able to give you such a great experience!

  • thank you for the information,

hope you have a great vacation & i'll be looking forward to see your next video.

  • No problem! My vacation was blissful, and my next video will be coming very soon now that i'm back in New York.

  • Also I just wanted to add I got extended warrenties for both my camera and a DVD player at CC several years ago and they always came through when I had problems. They were resolved within a week or two. My Uncle who bought a laptop at Best Buy wasn't so lucky, he was without his machine for 2 months. Customers shouldn't be mad at employees for the liquidation company's pricing, but some ppl are just vultures.

  • I agree they shouldn't be mad at us. The general public just isn't wise to how liquidations work, and I understand that. By informing through my videos, I hope people will understand the truth and think twice about blaming CC workers for issues with the liquidation.

  • I bought my first Canon digital camera at the Circuit City in Westbury, and still went there to buy some accessories from time to time. I always preferred the atmosphere at Circuit City. I walk into Best Buy on Old Country rd and they treat me like a criminal, they often wont let me in with bags from stuff I bought in other stores, they didn't care I didn't have a car.

At CC, I have had no problems like that. Its why I chose to shop there. Still using the 52mm CP that I got for $12.99 in 2007

  • It was a Sunpak 52mm Circular Polarizer, has served me well.

  • I work at the Westbury store, so its awesome to hear you've been shopping with our team!

I agree that our customer service and atmosphere are better than Best Buys. I personally find it very hard to receive any help in their stores, and their security never bother to check my receipts. The only thing I think they honestly have over us is better selection.

  • Sucks, there's so many people around the country in all kinds of professions that are losing their jobs.

Good luck to all who are going through this and always know the best is yet to come.

  • Thank you for the well-wishes, and yes, like I mentioned, we're one of many companies going through this.

  • I wish you the best of luck, having worked for the company for 7+ years has taught me a lot.

Yes the economy played a part in this, but the real downfall as others have said was Circuit City's management at corporate and in the stores at times. The first set of layoffs back in '03 when everything went hourly was the start of things to come, when they did it in '07 because people made $.51 more than the newly created position caps.

    Yonkers, NY- #3699 Firedog

  • I did mention in my videos that it was a combination of the economy and corporate. The layoffs were the beginning of the downfall, absolutely. The money we lost in customers far outweighed the benefits of cutting those people's salaries.

Good luck to you and your team as well!

  • Yes thank you for your great comment to me i would like to send you a card could you give me your address so that i could send you a card to wish you luck.

    Michael Salazar

  • I Am Deeply Sorry about you losing your job at Circuit City working there 3 years is a long time Dollar General Fired Me Due to that i didn't have the experience they wanted but my heart goes out to you and your job and also to you what other people say about circuit city forget them i had a Very Very Excellent Experience with Circuit City i bought a camera from there at a great price and when it broke i got refunded on a Gift Card and i still have that card. Circuit City Is # 1

    Michael S.

  • Thank you for your reply, Michael! I'm glad you had such a great experience with us. Thank you for your well wishes!

  • hey very good video I feel you on everything on this..... this sucks 34,000 employess... Good luck with everything.... i also work at circuit city newington, ct 3141.....

  • I work at 3672 Westbury, New York. Good luck to you and your team as well!

  • It's not the employee's fault, but the management and corporate was somewhat evil..

I got fired for something another employee framed me for. I was the hardest worker at my store, and sold the most firedog by far...

  • I worked for CC for 6 years, it wasn't the employees fault, it was cc board and CEO who destroyed the company, while paying themselves huge bonuses, they got rid of them, but much to late for CC, and yes the economy helped.

  • I agree. Relieving the people who were getting paid 'too much' and replacing them with fresh new 17 year olds was the beginning of the end, for sure.

  • Dang it! I just learned today that one of the few stores I enjoy buying from is closing down! I'm in shock...I can't believe it. All my memories of electronics are mainly in Circuit City...all I can think is shit no....man this is sad...and then all the workers getting laid off man :(. What a nightmare :(. It would be nice if there was a law that said you can't lay off thousands of people without supplying them with another job... :(.

  • I don't know if there are even enough jobs left for all 34,000 of us!

Anyway, you're not the only person who expressed to me that CC was the only place they got their electronics from. I'm glad we were able to help you with your electronic needs for as long as we did!

  • I feel for you I really do. I work at CC also in the warehouse about to lose my job. But one thing everyone needs to learn is you can't depend on any type of retail job. That's why they have schools that you can learn a craft/skill/trade. I been telling people that at CC all the time they never listened now I ask what's next for them? they say unemployment. Learn a skill to get a real job CCC is not a real job and you will be perfectly fine. I hope you do well for yourself

  • Thank you very much. I do agree that retail is a rather volitile industry and is never really a sure thing,.

  • aw man, don't be sad.

    i work at cc too.

you just gotta remember that you did a good job, and you made a lot of friends with the customers that trusted you.

    thats how i see it.

I taught a lot of people about electronics, and I wont forget it, thats what matters.

I made many ppl smile and feel secure in the knowledge i shared with them.

    (I worked in Home Entertainment)

its not our fault the company is dead, don't take it too personal.

its time to move on for all 30,000 of us.

  • I've had several people tell me to look at this as an opportunity to move on and do something closer to what I really want, but this economy really doesn't allow that =/ However, that won't stop me from trying to make a good opportunity out of this, either.

Good luck to you and your CC team in the future, thank you for your comments!

  • Good luck to you Gina. I know how you feel about the second family deal. Thats how I am with my team. So good luck to you. Hope you keep in touch with those people.

    Jenice CSA #0443

  • We're exchanging info and hopefully going out drinking once the store is done! XD Thanks for the reply Jenice, good luck to your team as well!

    Gina CFA2 #3672, TEAM WESTBURY BABY! =D

  • you look good in your Circuit City Uniform ;)

  • Haha, thanks I guess! Truth be told, I hate those freakin' shirts.

  • im so sorry... if i had the money i would buy ccity... much love to u.. matt from road shop store #3668

  • Much love to you as well Matt! Best of luck to you and your team, and yes, I wish we could have all pitched in and saved our company too.

  • I wish you the best luck on this. When I read CC was going out of business I felt really sad for the company and for all those who are gonna lose their job.

Keep up with the videos and I hope the liquidators treat you well.

  • Thank you for the well wishes, and yes, I feel horrible for all of my fellow team members that are losing their jobs as well.

I definitely intend to keep on updating my videos, and the liquidator is actually a very nice, although strict, man. It could be a lot worse.

  • People are assholes. They stretch the truth and come up with horrible misconceptions of things in order to make their stories sound more interesting. Remember the Fox 11 News Report on 4chan? People who actually go on 4chan know that it's not full of "hackers on steroids" or "internet haet machines"... people will take something and blow it entirely out of proportion to make it sound interesting to the public, and people will believe it because it's coming from a "credible news source".

  • I completely agree, Janai. The media seems to think every little tidbit on Circuit City is news now, but really they're misinterpreting it and sounding like morons to those who know what's actually going on.

  • yes the economy is screwed up!!!

  • Fresno California Circuit City Store# 423!!!

  • Hey my names Art I work at circuit city as well Ive worked there for about 2 years now I started off at customer service and worked my way into sales, anyways I know exactly how you feel and I agree with you in every single word that you said in this video, anyone else who thinks differently they can go screw themselves. With much love Art

    :)

hope all goes well for you hun!

  • Well thank you for your reply Art! Good luck to you and your Fresno team as well!

I worked as a Web Server for the Christmas 2007 season, so I also have done both customer service and selling. Just keep positive and have faith in your skills, you sound like a rather well-rounded associate!

  • now you can get a job where they wont treat there employees like shit. I have been wishing this on them for a long time, they really screwed me over

  • I'm going to assume you're a former CC worker? How did your employment with them end that they screwed you over? I'm curious as to what your experience was.

  • sorry about thatt

  • I know about all this.. I'm losing my job a ccity as well... and allot of customers really hated that we're closing. In any case, people think that we jacked up the prices etc. and the customers are mad cos the prices DID go up. But I tell them, ccity doesn't own the merchandise anymore. It belongs to the liquidators. And they are going to sale everything at suggested retail price -10%

  • So with that said, It's pretty obvious that it's not even worth going crazy over.. 10%? A $1100 pc we had on sale for $899 is now 1100 bucks again, minus 10% which means they pay $1100 give or take a few bucks after tax. So yeah, people come flying into the store thinking they're getting a great deal when they aren't and they get disappointed, and the media sensationalizes it as if we're a bunch of crooks.. Sigh* unemployment, here i come.. Good luck. I hope you find another job..

  • I had many of my regulars come in and express how sorry they are that we're going out of business.

As for the media, you're exactly right. They don't realize that we are owned by the liquidators now, there IS no more Circuit City, technically. Each store's own personal liquidator calls all of the shots now, and so everyone reading this knows, they are STRICT and very particular about how things are done. I just hope people remember that and show the CC workers a bit of respect.

  • Good luck to you and your team, by the way!

  • hey i know exactly what ur going through.

onlii because im goin through it myself.

i've working for circuit city for almost a year now and though it hasnt sunk in as much, i know by the end of next month i'll b in tears.

thank you for speaking out. i agree with you 100 percent.

  • Thank you for your reply! I wish you and your team the best of luck in the future. I'll be in tears too at the end, I'm sure!

  • I feel you - over 10 years ago i started my working career @ good ole circuit - and having worked there for a couple of years i understand what you mean about forming a family with the people you work with.

I really wish you the best of luck out there and hope that this transition lands you in a fulfilling position soon.

    Take care,

    CG

  • Thank you very much CG! I'm trying to think of this as a chance to start over with something great...I just have to find it!

  • This is exactly why the US is going bankrupt. You don't get it. This isn't about "Mistakes" that Circuit City made, this is about the confluence of a Global Depression and Peak Oil.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for a new job. The Big Three automakers are on their way to bankruptcy and a host of other companies, it is only going to get worse, because as more people lose their jobs less is spent elswhere in a vicious circle.

  • I didn't say it was ALL about the mistakes Circuit made. Trust me, as someone who was on the inside of this company, they made several huge mistakes that would have given us at least the rest of this year to operate if they hadn't done it.

I agree the big problem is the economy. Nobody's arguing that.

  • Stay Strong CFA or PFT.

    Store #519: Mays Landing, N.J.

  • I'm a Product Specialist, actually. But thank you! I hope for the best for you and your tem as well!

  • also my girl friend lol sorry to hear if there wasnt a best buy then

  • Well Best Buy was healthy competition. My particular store is about two buildings away from a huge Best Buy, but we always did very good business.

And yes, My girlfriend works as a security person in our store.

  • (continued) Please pay no attention to all the haters. I've come to realize that YouTube's comment boards are full of spiteful individuals who somehow find value in spewing vitriol rather than engaging in constructive discourse. Sad, but it says more about them than it does you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the 33,000 who find themselves trying to figure out what comes next.

  • Thank you very much for your comments, Chuck. My thoughts are also with you and your fellow SSC workers. Thank you for all of your hard work support our stores over the years!

  • Gina:

If one video could sum up all the truth, honesty and integrity that characterize these past few weeks, it would be this one. I'm from the SSC and can't think of one other thing to add to what you said about CC. There's a lot of fact in here, and I would hope that many folks recognize it as such.

  • yea, i even had to make a video saluting CC.

well, good luck, and yes, my bro lost his job @ Mervin's.

  • Thank you for the well wishes, and good luck to your brother as well!

  • It sucks. I was at store 3411 which closed in December of 09. If we quit or underperformed during the liquidation process, we wouldn't get are tiny little severance. Which, that being almost a month ago, I still havn't seen my severance pay.

I am still unemployed. I have about 10 days to pay off bills which I was relying on that severance check to pay. It will be almost a month before I get my first unemployment check it seems. Our store is a large vacant building setting on the corner now.

  • I'm very sorry to her about that. I sincerely hope things turn around for you.

As for the severance pay, we workers that are left get none, nor do we get to use our PTO. That's a big blow to our wallets, for sure.

  • you probably got rude customer service cause you're a fucking moron hahaha

  • no, the one going out of business is the fuckin moron..hahahaha

  • you're right....their old CEO was a fucking moron...but that doesn't change the fact that you're a fucking moron too...perhaps you a Schoonover can yank eachother as you discuss being retarded! LOL

Good luck CCity employees.....unfortunate the economy and corporate morons put the good employees in this position

  • LOL...fuck circuity city..i still got my job so im good. u fuckin circuit citcy bitch boy..best buy has always been better to their customers and honost with their warranties thats one of the reasons why theyre still in business and circuity city isnt ya fuckin retard get over it

  • Hahah...come on...thats the best you got?? insulting circuit city?? I'm the one insulting you you fucking moron...but I'm glad to hear your job at mcdonalds is treating you well! And yes....I would like fries with that thank you :)

  • SystemXpander = Joke Account

  • best buy is in the same bad spot circuit city was in 2 years ago so if they do not do something to fix this then you to will be out of a job i give best buy a year at the most 2 and you have no hart over half of the 34000 people that or out of a job have a fam to support i bet you still live at home with mom and dad there is a lot of people that are hurt by this so get a life and insult some one that needs it like yourself i bet you dont even make over 8.00 a houre jurk

  • Best Buy is going to be the next one out. Now they're a monopoly; vendors will have no competition, they'll lose money, and BB will be the next ones to go. Everyone keeps telling me to find a job there; I know better.

  • You got your job for now, the Global economy is imploding....unemployment is expect to go up to 40% or more. So unless your a Dr, nurse, mortician, liuqor business then your not immmune.

  • If you ran into a CC associate that wasn't honest about our products, protection plans, and policies, I'm very sorry to hear that. At my store at least, and the other stores in my district, we strive to be very honest with our customers about what we can offer them in their shopping experience.

As for your other comments, they're unneeded. When I asked for both positive and negative comments, I was apparently wrong in assuming the negative comments would be paired with the maturity of an adult.

  • Thank you clayman for your comment. I agree that Schoonover was a big part of the problem as well =D

  • your an ass and still live at home with mom and dad keep it up and when your out of a job and then the 34000 people that your insulting will be hitting you when your down and best buy dose not cover there service plans that it why your not closing plus who had a fake website so that they did not have to match the lower price best buy not circuit city

  • my last to posts are a reply to systemxpander circuit city will not die circuit city for life

  • Ah, I got confused when I read your comment, haha! Glad to see another CC supporter around =D

  • Well certainly, the mature way to respond to someone being rude is to be even more rude in return. Clearly, that's going to get you the results you're looking for.

That was sarcastic, by the way.

I'm sorry if you've had a bad experience in one of our stores, that's upsetting to hear.

  • I really felt bad for the company and it's employees. I always prefer Circuit City over Best Buy because I grew up buying most of my electronics from there: first DVD player, Nintendo, Playstation, and on the last 8 black Fridays, Circuit City was the first place I shop at. About 80% of my DVDS and Videogames came from Circuit City. I wish you the best of luck on your job hunt.

  • Thank you very much. I'm glad that you had so many fond memories of Circuit City!

  • Sorry to hear Gina....We have bought all our electronics through CC and we are sad to see you guys go :((

    Best wishes.

  • Thank you very much for your words.

  • gina i to work for circuit city and we at 3349 have a grate team as do you an we wish you the best of luck and dont forget to send it off with a bang have a going away party or somthing circuit city is not dead it will live on in us so lets keep its north stare showing bright and take its meaning to a other job and show what circuit city was and ment to us best of luck

  • Thank you, the best of luck to you and your team too! Right after we had the big announcement, my store manager said we MUST go out for drinks or something, haha! We're Circuit City, baby, we always go out with a bang!

  • Circuit City was never my favorite store growing up...but i did live through my teens with Circuit City being around...so I wish you the best of luck.

  • *hugs*

Sounds almost like what happened to Sam Goody.

  • Well spoken, Gina.

I, too, wish you & your team the best. Let's all use this time of the moment to continue to do what we always do best.

Thanks for watching my video & for you to share your thoughts.

  • Fighting a store on their death bed for replacement notebook, and Great Fight of my life! Circuit City force shoppers to waited for very long time for there own things!

Five Stars from The Bulldog Network of Youtube!

  • Unfortunately, we are short-staffed due to money issues. We can only help customers as fast as we can and, of course, every store is different, so I'm sorry if you had a bad experience waiting on a long line.

  • Amen sister!

*glomps* I hope it will solve itself soon for you.

  • Thank you. I'm trying my best to find a job as soon as I can.

  • I never stated about wait of line, and waited for more than 2 month of hell for replacement notebook! I glad our pueblo store closing to make room for expansion of Barns and Noble Store!
