The sigma costs less than half that of the canon and nikon 85's whilst being sharper and has less CA... so yeah not much to complain about, also at f2.0 there's barely any CA or vignetting whatsoever, and still less than canons and nikons.

I like the camera person's lens better. When you first put your focus on the camera person, I could not distinguish what the person was holding in his hand. His camera just looked like a silhouette. @ 4:35

@mguzzo7 On my lenses (nikon) there is a small tap at the back of the lens which will move in a small groove. Hard to explain, but when you move that forward(or back depending on,... never mind.. ) it will open the aperture. I think that was what he did.

On other lenses the aperture will stay open when detached from the camera body. I know that some older canon lenses does that. I don't know if the Sigma does that as well.

@FristOneStoned It's range is 85mm to 85mm, as it is a prime, a therefore has no zoom.

Tbh, if you're looking to blow a grand on camera gear, you should at least be able to tell that.

whats the difference between a 30mm f1.4 and 80mm f1.4?

Difference in focal length. With 30mm you are able to have wider view and lesser reach. 80mm will be able to capture things further but not able to fit much scene into it. Just get a camera with their kit lens that are able to shoot from 18mm-105mm(nikon) and 18-135mm(canon). The aperture will be smaller tho.

I have just bought this lens and it's awsome ! I got a good copy that focuses precisely. The only problem is indeed the purple fringing which lasts until f 2.8. I have taken some portraits in snow at 1.4 and they are not usable. Other that that the lens is worth it's every cent. Sigma did a great job.
