These parole hearings are a farce. If I was a convicted murder up for a parole rearing where there was a family member to the one I murdered. BUT I HAD early intervention from Christians, and to this day, I thank the Lord Jesus Christ from keeping me out of a life of crime. I had "anger" issues too, and I could have easily pulled off heinous killings, WITHOUT THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS. God has kept me from a life of crime and I am very thankful for that. Her countenance after her conversion was totally different than the sneering, contemptible one she displayed after the crimes. If not for the grace of God, I'd have done the very things she did. I had early intervention in life, which steered me clear from killing people. I thank the Lord and Praise Him for people who prayed for me and mentored me. Susan did not get that chance and she took a destructive path.

The prison approved a "compassionate release" for Susan Atkins because she only has six months to live which to me is ridiculous. But the final decision is still under review. No, the whole idea behind a life sentence isn't that the inmate dies in prison. Where did you get that from? In my country, for example, "life sentence" means up to 21 years, which is the maximum sentence. Most countries have a limit as to how long an inmate can be locked up. And what would parole hearings be for if one couldn't be out on parole?
ehehm don't know what your country is but here in the US a "life term" is for the duration of ones life. 21 yrs. is not a life sentence here but 21 yrs. Susan originally had a death sentence that sentence was commuted when te state of CA abolished the death penalty. Of course the death penalty has been re-instated & so it's only a technicality they no longer have a death sentence. If they murdered the same way today they would probably geet death penalty again & at least life w/OUT parole!

These parole hearings are a farce. If I was a convicted murder up for a parole rearing where there was a family member to the one I murdered. I wouldn't waste my time sitting and give this family member the satisfaction .It is pointless to even try .I don't understand why Susan spends so much energy - She died in prison - from brain cancer and had a leg amputated . I think she should have been released. Its obvious she is sorry for the crime she did. I mean in Australia, there was a young white caucasian bloke who murdered a Phillipino man while screaming out racial slurs in Cronulla in front of a number of people. His lawyer argued that it wasnt his fault that he murdered because he was on drugs and alcohol at the time. The jury agreed and just gave him a manslaughter charge which means he would probably be paroled in less than 5 years.

BUT I HAD early intervention from Christians, and to this day, I thank the Lord Jesus Christ from keeping me out of a life of crime. I had "anger" issues too, and I could have easily pulled off heinous killings, WITHOUT THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS. God has kept me from a life of crime and I am very thankful for that. As for Susan... she gave her life to Jesus.

Her countenance after her conversion was totally different than the sneering, contemptible one she displayed after the crimes. If not for the grace of God, I'd have done the very things she did. I had early intervention in life, which steered me clear from killing people. I thank the Lord and Praise Him for people who prayed for me and mentored me. Susan did not get that chance and she took a destructive path.

Most of them only do so after getting caught and serving time behind bars.
To them turning to religion is their only solace in dealing with a hopeless life behind bars.

What these so-called born again criminals seem to lack, I believe, is a genuine RESPECT for what Christ did. But then again the message that Christ gave is the genuiness of love and that is too divine to comprehend to mankind. It's also one reason to see the power of the lord. After all Dismas ( the one crucified alongside Christ ) was a thief and a murderer, but plead to Christ that he be remembered and went to Paradise. Something to really think about for redemption. A horrible tragedy that Atkins got herself involved in, as she came to understand, too late, of course. However, the past can't be changed. People continue to beat her up, but would they like her any better had she died still boasting of her hideous crimes, & still in worship of Manson? She did a terrible thing, no doubt, but we all better pay more attention to our own behavior over another's.

The Apostle Paul and Moses didn't murder people. Paul turned in Christians that got murdered. He paid for doing this the rest of his life. He didn't get 3 meals a day, a roof over his head, good clothes, was bare foot, but he helped a lot of people and taught them about the Lord. You are comparing him and Moses to Atkins who didn't do anything but cause horrible pain and misery. I haven't heard of one person she helped. Almost everyone in prison claims to be born again. That's their ticket out.

Paul (Saul) did approve of Stephen's murder in Acts 8:1. Stepehn was innocent yet Paul had hate in his heart, and the Bible equates hate with murder 1 John 3:15. Moses murdered the Egyptian in Exodus 2:12. They both caused misery and pain yet were forgiven by God and used by God to benefit others, just like Susan did. Susan did not harm anyone in prison, otherwise the press would have reported it. Other murderers got paroled, why not Susan, though I'd be against it.

i think the cancer came later.
she is paralyzed now, and has had a leg amputated.
in fact, she is no longer *really* in prison. she is in a nearby hospital. a parole at this point would not change anything at all for her, and would only benefit her family by letting them have more visitation rights. it will be interesting to see how the broke state of california handles it.

American justice system is too harsh. They put 12 years old kids in prison, deathpenatlys, and keep there people too long. I'm glad in here in Finland they at least give change for people to change. The prison approved a "compassionate release" for Susan Atkins because she only has six months to live which to me is ridiculous. But the final decision is still under review. Isn't the whole idea behind a life sentence is that the inmate dies in prison? Fuck a "compassionate release", I'll show this bitch a compassionate release and bust a nut in her mouth!! Her compassionate release request was denied. That is done.
She has a parole hearing next month. She last had one in 2005, and she was given a 4 year denial, so the upcoming hearing would happen regardless of her health.

No, the whole idea behind a life sentence isn't that the inmate dies in prison. Where did you get that from? In my country, for example, "life sentence" means up to 21 years, which is the maximum sentence. Most countries have a limit as to how long an inmate can be locked up. And what would parole hearings be for if one couldn't be out on parole?

ehehm don't know what your country is but here in the US a "life term" is for the duration of ones life. 21 yrs. is not a life sentence here but 21 yrs. Susan originally had a death sentence that sentence was commuted when te state of CA abolished the death penalty. Of course the death penalty has been re-instated & so it's only a technicality they no longer have a death sentence. If they murdered the same way today they would probably geet death penalty again & at least life w/OUT parole!
