It's also possible, despite what Ms Maddow thinks, that Mr Perry will actually gain support from this speech. As she says one has only to think back to Ronald Reagan, one of the most successful US politicians in recent history, to see the parallels. If he is imitating Reagan he's picked a fine example of what the US electorate wants in a candidate. This says quite a lot about the US electorate and its ability to pick intelligent, well educated, leaders.
