Do you know how expensive it is to operate a 747? Those things are gas guzzlers. Airlines dont stand still and operate the same aircraft and use it as thier flagship for decades.

Airlines has all ready begun phasing out thier 747's for more fuel effecient aircrafts like the 777. For example, EVA ended the Paris run because the 747 was expensive to operate, but thanks to the 777W, EVA was able to reinstate the route. The 747 was a thing of the past, and i dont think SQ will even consider buying the 747-8 unless its for SIA Cargo. The a380 is and will be SIA's new flagship so get over it.

the old 747 no longer operates as SQ1/2 any more. The new 777-300ER now flies this route with the new cabin products.
