Why always has to be so robotic for classicists??? I'm not talking about this guy playing the piano.. I'm talking about all guys playing music like robots.. without fellings.. I'm sure Bach composed this for future generations enjoyed it.. But no.. some people insist in playing like a freaking robot!!!!
If anyone wants to sing to this, there was a pop song made in the 70's or 80's appropriating the tune. Also, there's a cracking good reindition of it in the movie "Electric Dreams". It's definitely not for purists. In fact, neither are.
damn. i'm in beginner piano in school, and this version is nothing compared to the baby version. funny thing is that this song gave me more trouble than any other song in the book. do you know what that means? I'm gonna be a whack pianist forever.
A little too staccato... and I'm not a huge fan of the mordants. That is a personal preference though. I'm sure they went over well when the piece was composed. All frilly and what not.
if you search on bach, you know that at 1:25 is not staccato, and portable. Find out about this. learn to play Bach and correctly will be much more pleasuring for people who understand bach, you hear ringing. and her piano teacher taught you well, tell him what's wrong. In staccato bach there. staccato all you're doing is wrong. Because he played harpsichord and at that time the technology did not allow the staccato was conducted.
In reply to those commenting on the use of grace notes; he did not improvise them. I had to learn this exact same version(grace notes and all) of the piece for one of my classical theory courses at university a couple of years back. They may be not be in the original composition, but there is certainly another version that does have them. So with that in mind, I think he played this really well.
@jackalan88 You have to keep in mind that most people who are "correcting" or "criticizing" this are not classically trained in anything except criticizing things they know nothing about. This young man did a great job.
I hear this song everytime I go to music study. some 4 year old next door. i feel like suicide. who ever plays it must perpously hit every wrong note. but your good;
I think I remember playing this on the clarinet at one time in class. . . I most definitely CANNOT play this on the piano though. I like it ;} It's really good
This is from the "little notebook" of Anna Magdalena Bach. Current music scholars are inclining to the consensus that Christian Petzold composed the piece, however.
i can play it. im like only to the 3rd page though. but im workin on on it. i dont put all tha lil fancy stuff in it though. i play it like it is on the paper :b
What a weird fingering you've figured out for the trills!! I think 2 1 2 would be best than 1 2 1, if you understand me, 'cause you won't be able to speed it that much because of the awkwardness...
@MrPianomouse if it were 2 1 2 the trill would of screwup the fingering for the rest of the song. she would go 3 4 5 - then lift her whole hand to play 5 again which makes it sound sloppy and unsmooth
i learnt this like 9 months ago, and then i moved to singapore, i finally got a transformer for my piano yesterday, and i played the whole thing end to end without one mistake!! but when i tried again, my sister came in and started harping about me obsessed with piano's, and i immediately lost my concentration. when i tried again, i was concentrating very hard on the piece. for some reason, i kept making mistakes. i realized that i didn't remember the tune, but my fingers did!! it was soo cool!!
great job! there is no way i could play like you ....i am playing right hand chords (only) in my 5th grade cristmas concert (i was to lazy to learn left hand chordsXD) and i am pretty proud because i learned the part (from after the firt two lines) all in three days!! i was sitting at the piano all day, now i have to figure out the timing....
They were in a transcribed edition of Anna Magdalena's notebook that I purchased in a music store... taking them out for performance on instruments other than harpsichords is what came later.
@utubesnamepolsux Actually I had a music computer game when I was a little kid and this was one of the classical melodies they played. It was always my favorite but I never knew what it was called :)
i hate this song too i had to learn it when i was a little kid. aghhhh no wonder i hated piano lessons. good job though... it all starts with minuet, next thing you know, your playing chopin riffs to warm up. power to the piano
@JizzXpert Dude me too! I learned it in math class cuz my teacher had his piano out. Great feeling, considering i have never before read sheet music. Just learned the letter for each line and that was it xD Good job though!
on the repeat of part B your finger slipped a little bit... that's on 1:16. How ever fair enough playing...
a minuet is a stately dance and for me (because it's a major) it should communicate happiness. I hope you'll consider putting dynamics into it, it is a beautiful simple piece
That's what I've learned to play first. :)
