Flyable planes include F-100, F-105, A-4, A-7, F-4 and F-8. Yes, it has functional carriers (you can take off and land on them). You can have full or no HUD display (meaning just the cockpit). Cost is $26.99, you can get if from Thirdwire webpage in a single installer 469mb download.

F-4 has more aerial victories than losses almost 3:1 if we combine all MiGs models participated. But against MiG-21 Phantom have lost.

@BitnikGr don't forget the interests that ruled over the battlefield during Vietnam. The F-4 was designed to be the MiG killer and it did it successfully against fighters that it was supposed to fight against.

The MiG-21 were provided exatcly for that purpose. The USSR had major interest in having the MiG-21 competing againsnt the "MiG killer" as the unltimate performance test.

Anyway, the fact that it wasn't originally designed to have a gun was a major failure.

Every fighter was designed for certain purposes and to fight well known rivals. That's why plane which comes out later is usually better than its predeccessor.

F-4 was a MiG-15/17/19 killer. MiG-21 was a F-4 killer. F-16 was a MiG-21 killer, MiG-29 was a F-16 killer, F-15 was the best air superiority fighter...

Also, I have huge respect for F-4 Phantoms and especcially to designers' and constructors' work. This is possible only if designers do their job great! So, I do respect Phantoms for that!

They just released an October 2008 patch which is cumulative and quite nice but I cannot get mods to work anymore. No weapons folder anymore and when I add mods I can no longer use weapons. All mods work with the previous patches but not the October 08 patch. AI seems improved, guns jam and missiles fail more frequently.

It's a game by a Texas company known as Third Wire. It's a "lite" flight sim, in other words.. it's not nearly as complex as a game like Falcon 4.0 or Jane's F/A-18.

But it's still orders of magnitude more complicated than the Battlefield series (not that the Battlefield series is bad).
