What do you call the equivalent knowledge of at least 500 hours of hands-on experience in the lab or field, the 2 tests, and now after December of this year you HAVE to take the tests every 3 years to keep your certification, keeping in mind you HAVE to keep up to date with modern developments with the computer world? When I was a technician at Best Buy, they used to bring in people with no computer ability because they could sell, and I had to work trying to train them how to fix computers and repair their mistakes. From what I understand, little has changed. If you need your computer fixed, go on Craigslist, and you can find someone to do it for 1/10th of the cost, and they will probably know their ass from a hole in the ground.

They add sales people to the Geek Squad, not veteran technicians. I always recommend people visit small computer repair shops in their local area instead of Best Buy. Some places even offer free diagnostic service. The guys in the small places are elite technicians and can repair anything much cheaper than Best Buy.
