  • Need one for cars in the city or something

  • chang chaa chooo!!

  • honestly!! why are they always a step ahead of us. Amazing haha

  • 144 bikes isn't that much

  • all your bikes are belong to us?

  • LOL at subliminal messaging Mr Choo!

  • Actually something like this is being developed for cars in Denmark.

  • hay this one ain't My Bike ?

  • How could you dislike this dumb fucks!

  • It was on tv a long ago. Google: Japan Bike Storage liveleak

  • It was on tv a long ago.

  • I've seen a way more exciting version of this video. The one where the camera follows the bike inside.

  • @syrnick link?

  • what if i have back pedal brakes? :D

  • What if it malfunctions??

Or what if you get the wrong bike??

  • Cats: All your base are belong to us!

  • All your bikes are belong to us!

  • subliminal messaging haha

  • Chout warra upo du rackcutes.

  • All your bike base are belong to us

  • cool

  • My concern is that it only takes standard bicycles. Many types of bicycles won't fit. In a fully-fledged bicycle culture, non-standard bicycles can be common.

  • Interesting. Secure and out of the weather.

  • i rike

  • All your bike are belong to us?

  • and if you lose your ticket?

  • Comment removed

  • try a dirtbike!! lol

  • can i sleep inside this

  • we have a less high tech version of this in MN...they should really get moving on this awesomeness.

  • All_your_base_are_belong_to_us

  • OMG WEAR DO DA BIKEZ GO?! IZ LIK DA ERF SWALOWED DEM HOLE!

  • neato bandito

  • lol why dont they redirect the scientists and efforts to the nuclear station

  • @DarkFighter569 This video is about three years old.

  • This is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Ever. Poor Japan :(

  • and the only thing i could think of is "man thats an excellent example for implementing a hash table"

  • that would be so awesome to have in the US, maybe it would encourage more people to ride bikes and save the environment! oh yeah it's also more healthy

  • That is cool

  • Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Japan, due to its size, has the necessity. Other large countries don't. It's that simple.

  • Wait, let me get this straight - a machine that sucks huge amounts of energy, occupies approximately the same amount of space as a bike rack capable of storing 16 bikes, and if anything goes wrong with it (power outage, earthquake, etc) all 144 bikes are trashed is "efficient"? Welcome to Japan, here's your ridiculously expensive pseudo-efficient method that duplicates people locking their bikes to a rack.

  • @zymyrgy Maybe that's why you aren't Japanese. Funny how you mentioned all the negatives you saw and none of the actual positives. 1. who the hell would ride a bike in a power outage? 2.Wouldn't the bikes be destroyed in a earthquake regardless if underground or on a bike rack? 3. You obviously don't know how many bikes there are in Japan. I don't either, but they're more bikes than cars. By your logic, there shouldn't be parking lots for cars in the US, just everybody park on the street,2save $

  • @MrTizzzzzle I don't like parking garages in the United States - I -would- rather people park on the street - it would reduce congestion. Fewer places to park - fewer cars driving. I had a garage bike get destroyed in an earthquake (Left Coast = EQ) and I had a bike on the street. The bike on the street was fine - the bike in the garage was destroyed because stuff got jumbled about. Having been to Japan, and having done Amsterdam, this still looks totally inefficient to me. Nice assumptions.

  • @zymyrgy lol you're a funny one. I enjoyed reading your reply from my phone in class. My assumptions are only as good as your all knowing, condescending Japan comment. Regardless of your small fears and experience with a earthquake and your trip to Japan, doesn't mean that every bike on the street during a earthquake will be unaffected. Just look at Japan now. On the street or underground, your bike is getting mashed. You don't live in Japan. Keep yo fear for yo bike in America lol.

  • @zymyrgy I think they would have taken these factors into consideration when building it.

  • I have lived in Japan for 3 years before. While that country is much smaller than the United States in terms of land area, these people (Japanese) are the most efficient people on the planet. And imagine if they were in charge of United States, it would be virtually impossible to defeat them in every respect.

  • Until this happens with cars, I can give a shit less.

  • @suicidewarpig It does. And surely you mean you "couldn't" give a shit.

  • bwahahaha all your base are belong to use

  • Pretty fuckin' sweet.

  • WTF am i the only one that saw "all your base are belong to us" guy in 1:12?

  • @diversion876 no XD

  • Wow gr8 idea, that machine schould be in my city :)

  • @PanJawelDrugi We should nuke your head, maybe something might move inside there...

    Skończony Idiota...

  • @PanJawelDrugi That's coz you are the real terrorists, no doubt about it.

  • Excessive security much XD

Dispite this, America still uses more power

  • @Alexc3217 If you invest in a good bike I wouldn't mind this type of security.

  • @Alexc3217 So what you like throwing your money to thieves?

  • the only reason America doesnt have these is because someone would try going inside...someone like me xD

  • "CATS: ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US."

  • @LuciferArmand "Subliminal" lol

  • While this looks very cool, it's probably super expensive to build and maintain. Probably one of the reasons why Japan is in such high dept right now.

  • @tubekew

    I agree.

  • @tubekew we dont even have anything like that and we are in a much larger debt hole.

  • @DDRmastaa Depends on if you mean by Public dept or External dept. For public dept, Japan is the second highest on the list (owes 189% GDP), with the US 47th on the list (owes 52% GDP). But by external dept, we are first on the list (owes 94% GDP) and Japan in ninth (owes 42% GDP).

However if I were to compare the two and mix both public and external together, Japan is actually in more dept than us. With Japan overall owing 231% and the US 146% GDP. That is, if that is how it actually works.

  • @tubekew I'm sure in the long run this would promote biking. Instead, the use of cars which incur a social cost through pollution, traffic, and other things. Also, since land is really scarce in Japan its much cost efficient to build vertically to use land more efficiently.

  • @alexHG123 While I have to agree with you on Japan having very little land (just go to Google Maps and look at Japan, all the cities seem connected and covers the majority of the nation, leaving very little forest) and that biking is more environmentally friendly. But I don't think having a personal underground elevator for just their bicycles is going to help the environment or in their nation's growing dept, just what I think though.

  • @tubekew It costs less and its faster. I would rather spend it on that.

  • @alexHG123 I doubt that the reason why they made it vertical isn't because land is "scarce" it just takes less room and is faster then make horizontally.

  • this is cool

  • i wonder if you can sit on the bicycle and go in with it . it be so cool to see the inside. . but wait how am i getting out

  • That's it. Get me the fuck out of America. I want to live in Japan now. NO WAY am I gunna die in this sucky country.

  • all your base are belong to us.

  • I see condos down the line

  • I love japan :3

  • that is bad ass. why cant we have nice shit here?

  • @zacatetas Ask those inbreds setting their assholes on fire on YouTube!

    LOL

  • That is just simply a great concept, same idea as the car parks you guys have ^v^/ sugoi!

  • good job japan !! <3

    X.Devil

  • that is some legit tech right there

  • wow....just wow. japan got everything! great food, girls, cars and even underground storage for bikes!!!

  • I think that all the big cities needs this.

Sometimes when I park my bike, I lock it, and even put a chain with it, for put it safe, but seat and tires are still exposed (thiefs can stole it.)

With this, all the bike would be safe.

  • yeaahh , too bad europeans too greedy to build these for the populations haha , i got a really nice bike n its pretty dangerous to cycle around places n locking it , they could just break my lock or take my wheels . . haha pretty lame . .

  • wow, very smart and inventive

  • dude that is so cool.

  • wow its like car garage. lol

  • 1:13

  • we need this on our campus. too many bikes are stolen there.

  • Thats really cool! When I first watched it, I thought it could only store one bike xD But it can store 140 underground! We should have those in the US

  • wow awesome! ty danny! (^_~)b

  • That is soooo cool. Nuff' said.

  • Where is this? In Meguro? I wanna check this out!

  • wow! thats neat! USA should make these technical bec many are stolen in america. fuck criminals in america.

  • you think those are criminals?

i dare you go to latin america and not shit on your pants then.

  • Damn wish we had this in the west... i see all these obese people along my street, driving 10 m, gaining weight and creating carbon pollutants.

Bikes are the way of the future >=D

  • *belong , fail typing sorry =x

  • Thats just awesome:D

The politeness of the people, the more then great customer service, and of course the culture and food.

I want to go back to Japan soon I miss it :(

  • man you make me want to lean the language, and customs so badly. I so want to visit....and why can't we in America get awesome stiff like this? (Though i can see that most Americans don't use bikes to travel much.)

  • yeah our country is too big and we barely have culture................

  • Good song, what is it if I may ask? :D

  • Only in Japan!

  • We can't have these in the US. Dumbasses would get trapped and dismembered and then sue.

  • @KzrrainzYes I'm sure there's safe mechanisms and there's a lot of warnings posted.

  • @KzrrainzYes LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL love the way you put it!

  • @KzrrainzYes I'll have to remember that next time I'm cut into pieces. I mean, at least then I could sue for my family's sake, but it would be horrible for them to see me in bloody chunks.

  • I would imagine so, but It would most likely be dangerous.
