I've had my iPad 1 since September 2010, and haven't gotten it stolen, nor has it slowed down over the year. My school just got iPad 2s, and apart from the loading time (not frame rates, mind you) in some graphics-intensive games like Real Racing 2, the speed difference is almost indistinguishable. One reason I would trade in the iPad for a MacBook, though, is that Keynote has almost no support for any advanced presentations. It doesn't seem like a huge hinderance, but trust me, it's annoying.

Few concerns is it is pretty much runs the same interface as the iPod Touch and iPhone on a bigger screen, unless you could put in some Adobe programs on there and a camera - something most netbooks have. If they could cater to these needs, then I just might be sold on it.

Gimmick aimed at fanboys. Does nothing new and runs a horrid, limited OS. It IS basically a giant iPhone, you can't argue that because its exactly the same system, only bigger. The unique selling point is *perhaps* the ebook reader. Although if you wanted an ebook reader there are better, cheaper, models out there.

It'll sell like hot cakes though, because it has an apple logo on it. Sad really.

for one thing it runs iphone OS 3.2 firmware which will never be open to the ipod or iphone, the OS is just fine, has photoshop and soon to be other adobe programs, iworks, music, books, movies, stores, etc. its not like the iphone in many ways, apples own processor built in, has a bigger screen, is more customizable, higher grade touch sensitivity, going to be open to flash in about 5 months, higher quality, etc. and besides, you cant grade something BEFORE its even released!

@viper7ryanMajor (about holding it) major problem would be typing on it, because from the looks of things you will need both hands to type effectively.. You'd have to set it down on a service like a table, or your lap. Which would be uncomfortable to say the least.

@viper7ryan they are releasing a keyboard attachment but if you do that you might as well save a few bob and get a proper laptop. The point is, if you set it down flush on to type; the viewing angle will be limited/uncomfortable. The whole idea is its supposed to be more portable than a laptop. In hindsight, it really isn't.

iPhone for example doesn't have the same problem because you can type with your thumbs while holding the device comfortably.

i actually like this ad. its really uplifting =D. the features on the ipad seem good and uses the space well but i guess adding some other things would have been better (ie: camera). ipad will be good for movies and games and ebooks but i guess this would be like a mini laptop with cell functions. either way i still like it.
