Viva la vida is very popular among choires but they all try to imitate the original version - starting off high tempo with dam dam dam dadam dam... etc. It sounds OK but leaves very little space for variation and harmonies. To me it doesn't bring out the full acapella potential of the song. Vocal Line made a version - it's slow and focuses on harmonies and dynamics and sounds very different from the original. it's not on you tube (but other stuff is), but it's on itunes. It's beautiful!

Does the group go up at least one step as early as 0:23 and then again sometime during the second chorus? Listen to each chorus then go back to the very beginning. The soloist, though straining for those high notes wasn't bad though.

Homeboy has presence. A voice that can fill a room and the room next door too. So after seeing this video and the one with Christina solo doing Come To My Window I have to STRONGLY suggest that the Veritones put together an arrangement for So You Want To Be A Rock and Roll Star (Tom Petty, Byrds). This guy and Christina should duet and sing to each other. It would be a great fit for the pair.
