These guys brought me HOME - I was raised in Spain, an ex-patriot with American parents - and they made me UNDERSTAND all the GOOD things about this country - they still represent the BEST that this country has to offer.
I LOVE this! I am a HUGE Band fan and have never seen this. At first I thought they all did this together' (and knew that to be impossible)..but in looking at it' not one of them had to be in the same room. You know I am referring to Robbie and the rest. Great tape...I want it in it's entirety!
just finished reading levon's book 'this wheel's on fire' and i would recomend it to anyone who is interested in the band (or even just interested in good music). great read
I got the book off Amazon, it's a spectacular read. Thanks for the great post. I was looking for this but couldn't get my hands on it, I am so happy I finally found it!
@Dannyfrenchsfp I just read it 4 times in a row. Its a wonderful book with all these different voices coming in at different places. Pretty similar to the best vocal arrangements on the first two records, if you ask me.
@virgilcaine1 Not by people who recognize good music when they hear it. It is probably true to say that they were too good to be popular in the 'pop' field in the same way that the late very great Danny Gatton was only recognized by those who appreciate superb musicianship.
¡Amigo, millones de gracias por los videos...!!! To me this is the best group ever and my favourite LP album in music history. No kidding, that's why I send you million thanx always, from México (B-p), betokkikke.
I agree, the brown album is an incredibly strong album, actually I think you need some time to fully appreciate how good it is. Not a single weak spot anywhere on that album.
First 2 records were so great, but the falloff after that was the biggest ever, except for The Rumour' - what a drag - what happened?

@socrates1818 read the book, this weel's on fire by Helm. It explains it all.

Four guys from Canada and an Arkansan good-old-boy produce the greatest Americana throwback in the history of popular music. Astounding.

@NathanIsReallyBored its similar to Pines but has to be something else, I'd guess its just a little snippet that was never a completed/released song.

funny thing is everyone in this band is canadian except levon helm.
mwells219 2 years ago 3
@mwells219 which its even funnier that they keep saying its American, Appalachian, and a mystery to where the sound came from! The Answer ...Canada!!
Although obviously Levon Helm had a huge impact too. I think it is a perfect mixture hillbilly America and Canada.

the only weak spot on music from big pink is 'lonesome suzie' , in my opinion.

this album is better than music from big pink. even though i love that too.

I had this movie in my Netflix queue for a year, it never was available. It's even better than I expected.
When was it made? Good to see George Harrison and Rick Danko, may they rest in peace.
