    It's not High Hat, it's Hi-hat.........begginers mistake....

  • you're an amazing teacher, im learning so much... keep it up!

  • I'm not a drummer, but I had a little experiance with drums.I got the the tempo in my head, but some stuff on drums feel like it's contradicting

  • @zozarbuddies111

do you know what the clutch is? If you untighten the little wing nut on the hihat clutch, you can adjust the height that the top hihat sits at, which will let you move the gap in between the two hihats smaller so your foot doesent hit the floor

  • Comment removed

  • i dont care how the drums sound i just wnt to learn wich u did alot 4 me

  • the real Dj are drumer...i am

  • hey jonathan ive been watchin ur dj tutorials n ive been makin my own beats but i cant find any good high hat beats.can u post a video of a sick ass high hat solo.that would b awsome n a big help thanks.

  • i don't play drums.

    i've never played drums.

i don't intend on ever playing drums.

i don't know who you are, but you do 2 things very well: playing drums and teaching. ;D

  • I love your explanations! GREAT STUFF

    THANKS MATE!!!

  • = D NIce

  • bru ur helping alot. keep doing what ur doing. easy and simple way of learning to play. love it :)

  • keep doing this man

  • I'm a beginner and yes you're a lot of help for people like us want to play drums.. Thanks a lot...

  • lol i played so much gt drums on expert, that i though thats it, i think im interested playing for fun real drums, and now i watch these vids, and listen song diferent way than before, and when playing im using also my lef feet to get use to use hihat too, im planning to by my drums in 2weeks, they are pearls 850euros expensive? also with doube pedal.. just for fun.

gt drums just gave the interest and some idea of rythm how to use legs same time,

n what kind of beats there are.

  • What kind of drums are they? (full name)

  • i bought other ones, more expencive ones, pearls visions 765 euros (just drums) then i bought paiste symbals with some highquality stands and double base pedal and chair, all of those like 1300euros, but i got them in 1100euros.

what do you think, i dont got them in here right now, but snare was silver and they said its very good, i check thats name later. it feels bit uncomfortable that hihat has to be so right, and by double base pedal takes so much room of position of hihat im so amateur :D

  • great beginner video

    right to the point

nice sense of humor too lol

  • this is suposed to help beginers... so if all of you fuckers feell like George Kollias WTF are you doing here??

Sorry for bad english and thanks for the help dude : )

  • very helpful thanks for posting that :)

  • Excellent your a great tutor - I am one in the one thousand cause i loved the lesson

  • good one i myself have played for well over 14 years now and i think its very important to show cats about opening up that high hat when i started earlier on i used to just really avoid doing much with the high hat other than tapping it closed it limited me in some ways but it also made me rely more on fills and just really keeping my meter steady but now i use the shit out of it got a bunch of disco songs now

  • Grand. Simply put for the newest of players. You taught me an incidental lesson here: Learning a beat by thinking of it in terms of "moves". Great attitude, as well. Thanks, mate.

  • nice vid buy BTW, its a hi-hat, not a high hat

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!this is the only video that teach me the best .....thx man!!!! i luv u!!!!wooooorock on!!

  • hey men thank you very much for making this

videos u know im a beginner and wow i love ur vids.. so thank you a lot...

  • Can you show us a funk beat ?

  • Im one of your best student =) love your vids im a beginer and i thank you very much i learn a lot of you !!!

  • Very useful - thanks!

  • классный парень... мне нравятся его несложные и очень хорошие уроки...

  • cyka

  • right or wrong I can at least understand your concept and play something now.

more than I was doing before. thanks

  • yeah, and of you teach 1000 people the wrong way to play, what have you taught??

  • you have taught a 1000 people, what not todo?

  • nahh just ignore it, its how to play drums - for dummies ;)

  • how is that the "wrong way to play"? this is for complete beginners, he is just teaching people how to hit drums and use pedals, its not wrong at all

  • yea lot of people really r not getting that this is for beginners n ive ben playing 20 yrs now u know why i watched bc i wanna be a better teacher as well. i thought his approach was great in explaining how to play the rock beat n there is no right or wrong way to play i know pro drummer that hold n play sticks and technique looks wierd or sometimes bad but you would never know if u just heard the audio u can always learn something from someone no matter what the skill levelor else u a knowitall

  • exactly. who gives a crap if u dont play it right or u look funny. as long as ur making good music, its fine with me

  • yea im tired of people critizing this video. I mean shit obviously they cant listen or read. this guy is just trying to teach

  • that was helpfull youve taught me alot cheers

  • THX for this

  • Jonothann :D

Can you show us how to play in the air tonight by phil collins

your videos are a big help

  • you are the best drum teacher that i found on youtube , the teachers of expert village sucks alot

  • @kelvinjester i agree this guy is really good but i watch multiple teachers try mike johnston (drumteacher76)

  • do one on tuning cuz ur cool like that (right)

  • Wtf? Your Kit - I mean the snare - sounds Awesome!

    My Snare sounds terrible :(

  • Thanks a million! did the job for me

  • Yes! You didn't have to hold the camera this time!

  • Cooool video! You're a very good teacher. :]

  • dude i know how to play the drums.. but if i was a begginer, u had be a very very good teacher. u teach slow and simple. ur videos are very good for begginers. good job mate!

  • You don't need to hit the hi-hat when you're closing the it. The closure makes the 'hit'. At least, that's how I was taught. It helps avoid potential cymbal flams. Well . . . dif'rent strokes, I reckon.

  • nobody starts off with great talent first of all, and second of all its all a learning experience if he doesnt have the talent yet (which i personally think he does) then he will get the talent as long as he keeps practicing and learning

  • ive been playing 44 years and this guy is great,, good teacher and happy,,,any real drummer knows you dont need a great kit to be a good drummer.he,s a good drummer, and a great teacher. good on ya mate. arter 44 years im still learning. ralphy australia

  • totaly agree mate... the guyz complaining bout the kits are the guyz that cant complain bout the beats cuze they dont know beats

  • Why not move on to the guitar if you can't find talent in drum.

Sometime a few things just ain't yours

  • this guy is very cool! A little bit crazy but he's totally OK :-)

  • this is brilliant for complete beginners like me awesome!

Keep the lessons coming and thank you!!!!

  • This guy, despite all your complaints about his kit, knows how to teach. Saves me $25 hour.... ohyeah, I am a very beginner.

  • Thats pretty cool! :D haha :D...watching this video you're goin to laugh a little :D for begginers its a good teacher :)

ps: im not a begginer :)

  • 2:24 lol nice job i like the way you teach because you put it in a simple but effective way

  • Wicked teacher for beginners, well done man keep it up

  • very good lesson . this lesson is best for beginners like me

  • I would buy you a better drum kit and a higher snare stand if I had the money :(.

    Teach me advanced fills!!

  • dont listen to those people that tell you ur rubbish u r a great teacher

  • thanks for this..!

  • awesome teaching skills. I'm subsribing xD

  • dude you are amazing you should give lessons

  • i guess im one of the thousand that just learned lol thanks

  • Does it matter which hand you play your HH and snare with?

  • nope. w.e. u can do better. just go for it.

  • you are an awesome drum tutor!

  • man, i wish i had you whne i was first playing drums. Your not like a music teacher that is really boring. And i had trouble putting snare, hithat, and bass together to make that beat whne i first started out. The way you explained it would have been so much better

  • it dusnt matter if ur drums sound bad it aint a waste of tym either u have reely teached me anything cuz ive bin playing the drums 4 about 2 yrs soo. yea. can u make a video of a drum solo im kinda curious of wut ur fully capable of on the drum set

  • i hate how you never count correctly you should really learn how, at least learn how to count, and if you really wanna do something thatll help you, learn how to read

  • here... have a bud... lighten up

  • dude your videos are awesome..i'm trying to self-teach myself cause i don't have the money to take lessons but yours help so much..thanks!

  • buy the game rockband for drums,

if you are just starting out and can't get

a tutor, 'rockband' will help with developing skill,

    movement, posture, and rythm.

  • it's super true, lol.

I learned the intro to down with the sickness by disturbed on hard, and now I can do some amazing crap on my real set that I could never do before.

it's really odd, but it really helps a lot.

my main issue still is separating my feet from my hands, and then stick rudiments (i have no discipline, haha)

  • hes funny and a good teacher

  • actualy was teh best tutoral iv seenn so far.. a nice catchy 2 beats easy to learn teh way you put it down keep it up

  • Good job, not a waste of time. Not everybody is meant to be a teacher. This is a service. Thanks.

  • I've been playing for 20yrs and I must say that you are awesome. There is much more to playing the drums than parradiddles and technicalities. Music is all about listening. The most important part of a kit is your ears. You put this across wonderfully. Judging from these comments you are helping out loads of fledgling drummers out there. You should be proud! Keep up the good work.

I'm interested in playing the drums but i can't seem to afford a decent drum kit for a beginner, any advice?

  • If you're on a budget I recommend CB drums as they're very versatile and can be upgraded easily, they're also good quality. If you've got a bit more money you can't go wrong with pearl(export) tama, ludwig. Hope it helps :D
