  • Gilbert is so good it just makes you sick.

  • paul, you can rock me anytime ;) u fucking rule!!

  • Something about that pitch? What is it?

  • he can play the blues like the best of 'em. not just notes, neither, real feeling. no ego there, too. none of that guitar- great shit. if you had a one-on-one jam with him though, he'd probably run circles around you, then buy you a beer.

  • Paul = GOD

  • smokin song, easy for all to wagon trail on.

  • My hero.

  • Paul plays with pure emotion , ya gotta love it !!

  • How can you not like Paul? He is awesome.

  • hahah always puts a smile on my face to see Paul play :D

  • "doing vibratto or bending without making a face it's like eating food without tasting it"

  • Greatest guitar player.

  • unreal!!!! he aint just a shredder...

  • damnit paul howd you know i go on youtube and learn your stuff! your physic

  • Thank you for posting this, Paul is one of the most gifted musicians in the world, he has everything, technical proficiency, an amazing sound, a totally rhythmic percussive feel. Warmth, personality, on and on. He is astounding.

  • that was............ wow i felt that one. Go Paul..giving me chills man

  • He needs to find a livelier bassist. Looks like he's just waiting for the paycheck.

  • People on here spend way too much God damn time arguing on YouTube and not watching and appreciating the video.

  • Punk derivative up "your" ass, that is like saying philosophers will be replaced by double talking republicans swirling in nonsense. Punk died and we all await the day of rap and hip/hop death, get back to actually playing with a sense of virtuosity.

GIlbert is very underrated guitarist and a teacher grad of GIT, he knows what he is talking about. Where is the Satriani G3 DVD with Gilbert?? Go back and listen to Robin Trower now that will be a lesson anyone desiring to play should experience.

  • hes great but the guitar sucks

  • Those licks were fucking tasty!

  • Paul,I reaally want to play with you!

    Please visit me in Sweden.

  • 0:21 yah sure alot of kids play music these days especially Steve Vai and stuff and ofcourse they read theory books....

  • That was just flat sick.

  • Paul plays guitar much better than me, only using his teeth

  • I think if you play a Trower song or "in the style of" you should at least use a Strat!!

  • @dudeblues10

What's the shape, or make of the guitar got to do with it? He's playing through single coils for christ sakes, does it have to be be a pre-CBS strat, or a black one one with a rosewood fretboard as well? Man, the stupidity of the comments just astound me!

  • @68nevets68 If you don't know the difference in tone between guitars then you're the ignorant one. I said nothing of his ability to play. You should probably do a little homework before you call someone else stupid.

  • @dudeblues10

I know full well the difference in tones. I've owned more guitar than you can imagine strat boy and I actually prefer strats to any other guitar, but your comment had nothing to do with tone and more about brand and shape. Sorry but if you don't hear a good single coil tone and Trower-like style here, then I'll continue to call you stupid...stupid. Sorry you're a bitter shallow-minded guitarist and doesn't "get it".

  • @68nevets68 The video said Robin Trower version, Robin Trower plays a strat. Who said anything about shape of a guitar?? There is no Strat tone here. If you can't tell that, maybe you should sell a few of those guitars and take some lessons. If you have anything else to say about this, please send me a private message. I'd love to here from a pro like you.

  • @dudeblues10 No, I'd rather call you out here...and no, the video says Paul Gilbert Plays Robin Trower...tell me more smart guy...and no, I wouldn't waste my time schooling a putz.

  • Sell my guitars, why? I'm good and like playing and don't say stupid things about great guitar players because I'm bitter and out of touch. Hmmmm, do you hate imports and Obama too. Don't worry, I know you...all to well.

  • OMG! Just found a pic of Trower with a Les Paul!...should I send it to you? Will you vomit?...Does it matter?

  • @dudeblues10 True, there isn't any strat tone, that's because those are hum-canceling single coils, wich sounds more like a humbucker than a single-coil. and this sound is WAYY too thick, creamy and awesome to be a strat.

  • @dudeblues10

Fact is; Paul could play this through a Pignose with a Ric and still sound 100% more Trower-like than you, so your negative comment holds no weight...like a retard calling a genius dumb is what you basically did here. Got some comments about Gary Moore playing a strat instead of a Les Paul? Would Trower's "style" be different if he played a Flying V? Like I said: what's your point? So, let's slam Gilbert for not thinking enough to bring a strat to this event to make you happy.

  • @68nevets68 You're an ass

  • haha if you want top notch faces.....paul kossoff...one of the best in the game for vibrato

also Gary Moore.....both sadly pased on.....amazing players in their own right...

    I like this guy...hes funny...

  • I know Paul Gilberts good but Robin trowers vibrato makes your balls shake and your teeth rattle. These shredders just can't resist, well, shredding. Lol

  • How cool that PAUL is a ROBIN TROWER fan.

  • fantastic

  • he is nut just a Guy he is God

  • Every GC salesman thinks they have this kind of talent.

  • Paul should do G3 with Satch and Vai...he'll give them a run for their money. -that would be a hell of show.

  • @flyingsquirrel73 He did do a G3 in 2007 except it was with Satch and Petrucci.

  • @flyingsquirrel73 LOL..I realized after I posted..that he had done G3!..my bad- thanks man!

  • I love how he announces to "take a big bite of this song" and then munches on his guitar strings later on :D

Watching videos of PG always leaves me grinning like a big idiot, because he seems like such a nice and cool guy.

  • @valinhorn42 He's just having a ball. PG plays because he loves it.

  • I love gilberts playing but hes nowhere near a blues player,he needs to say more with less.

  • @wwwhhhyyy obvious troll is obvious

  • @wwwhhhyyy dumb... you are

  • These videos from this clinic are gem!! Thank you for sharing this!!

  • HE MEANT BBKING? XDDDD

  • @BrianWu1 i think he meant "in the style of"

  • Damn Skippy!!!

  • "Doing a Bend without makin' a Face..... Is like Eatin' Food without Tastin' it" I Love It!

    Great Quote!

    Later....\m/_ _\m/

  • This video should be entitled "Feelin' It," 'cause Paul certainly was. Sheesh.

  • he can play a better solo with his teeth than most guitarists can with their hands =\

  • robin trower is my hero nice to see a technical legend like paul gilbert give credit to another legend

  • I DO AGREE ABOUT HIS FACEMAKING THEORY.HELL YEAH.

  • Man that was great !!

  • Glad to see legends live...PHENOM

  • Being a guitar player myself, watching this guy play is incredibly inspiring.

    Rock on Paul!

  • This guy is crazy talented. Kind of sad this only has 9k views. People are too busy listening to Lady GaGa...

  • @jgoodman75 yeah Lg is overrated

  • @jgoodman75 Quality over quantity. The flavor-of-the-week popstars have a larger quantity of fans because they have the corporate backing for their marketing campaigns. The brilliant artists like PG attract their fans based on talent and the magic they create, not skimpy outfits and suggestive lyrics.

    /end snooty response

PG makes me want to practice my guitar and throw it away at the same time.

  • @jgoodman75 If you wanna be REALLY digging for reasons to be optimistic, better her than Justin Bieber.

But yeah, this guy is godly, AND he can do poppy rock songs. There's no reasons he's only huge in the underground.

  • @MegashadX He used to be a household name back in the 90s with Mr Big.

  • @shredicon86 I wouldn't know, I was just getting into guitar when the decade ended, let alone getting into music. But yeah, he was....erm, big with those guys lol, but I thought the biggest audience was Japan, whereas it was harder to get famous in the US and Europe? At least, that's what Billy Sheehan said at a clinic.

  • @MegashadX Ah, same here. Started with Nu Metal believe it or not, haha! Wes Borland is still the shit though IMO. Everything I know about paul has been from research, none of it from first hand knowledge (except hearing how rediculously awesome his tone and phrasing are). I believe Billy though, Japan is a whole different animal when it comes to rock and metal.

  • @jgoodman75 sad thing is there are people that don't listen to Lady GAGA that still think guys like Slash, David Gilmour and Keith Richards are better than Paul because they say he doesn't play "with feeling" HAHA. I love his "make a face" comments about bending and vibrato!

  • @jgoodman75 And the fact that he loves Robin Trower one of the most talented and under appreciated guitarists of all time.I saw Robin at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee and he was awesome.

  • yeah the "face"!

  • That was ridiculously excellent!

  • I really like his tone with the single coils!

  • THANK YOU... P G

  • you and your guitar tall too mats without a reason.

  • Check out Jimi Hendrix version at the Monterey Pop Festival !!!

    1967

  • his PINKY. LOOK AT HIS PINKY FINGER!

  • @TCELL24 what bout his pinky? O_o

  • find some human beings to play with don just seat there and play guitar on youtube heheheheh wow NICE LINE THERE PAUL!!!

  • Be careful, Paul. Don't bite the guitar, or else you might inhale poisonous korina wood chips!

  • @waylay00

haha nice one. i never realized what a pretty wood korina is until i saw the back of the guitar in this video during the teeth solo

  • Truly amazing

  • He definitely should be invited to the next Crossroad festival, if he hasn't yet.

  • he should go up and play with robin trower at crossroads. robin is one of pauls inspirations and they would sound awesome together. they also have a very similar sound. they both use vintage modern and the song radiator sounds like a trower song

  • @SirJamestheIII this idea is huge absolutely massive

    forgive my overexuburance (sp? wd?)

gilbert could do justice to the vocal parts (no one can

    replace dewar we know that)

from your post to the gods of rock may it come to pass

  • Man can Gilbert talk with his guitar or what.

  • hahaha yes i can do it withous making the face, then he sounds like his out of breath because it was so hard not to make the face :P haha so nice Paul

  • what guitar is that?

  • brand is ibanez it is his signature i think it is called the fireman

  • This is a BB King Song!!!! Paul is God!!!!

  • @809Metallica

No. BB King covered it. The original was written by Muddy Waters.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's by Waters.

  • woohoo!

  • Robin Trower is such a great guitarist good to see Paul paying homage to one of the greats.
