The video clip is very good and if he was told not to fly it was very good advice. If only he had listened. I have only limited knowledge of flying a helicopter and know it must be difficult. Michael Stephen Nolan Dublin - Eire
Now uv started readin dis dunt stop. This is so scary. Send this to 5 ova videos in 143 minutes. When ur done press F6 and ur crushes name will appear on the screen in big letters. This is scary cause it actually works. If u break the chain u will have problems with relations p.s for the next five years x-x-x
What he did reminds me of how it felt the first time I had to hover in one of those things. I kept screaming "you take it! YOU TAKE IT" to the IP and thinking that we both were about to die. The army designation of those was TH-55 and they were by far the hardest helicopters to fly that I came across in my entire career. Poor guy never had a chance. aloha:)
I just googled this NTSB No and read the report.... Conclusion DUMBASS! Had a small no of hours in fixed wing (0.6 solo) and only 2.5 rotary... Bet your bottom dollar he thought he was gods gift to aviation. He frikin deserved to loose his machine.
That was hilarious!! like watching wile-e-coyote or something seein' the rotors finally come to a stop and some guy say he has no hours on it!! tooo funnnnneee!!
It's funny because anybody that knows anything about flying, fixed wing or rotary knows that a helicopter is harder to fly in the early stages of learning to fly period. A helicopter requires more of your attention than a fixed wing aircraft. This guy was a dumbass.
I believe the background story to this, is that this guy purchased a helicopter (known as a Hughes 300 at the time) and was waiting for his instructor, to have his first flying lesson in it. He became impatient and decided to have a go himself (idiot) before his instructor got there. What he did not know, was that the controls were in a brake position with friction locks. The locks are supposed to be disengaged before flight. Combine that with ZERO hours experience...
good luck buying a new 1 :P
