You had a nice start to a great solo--but then you killed it for me--TOO MUCH SHREDDER--stick to the BLUES--more articulation--nuance--space--dynamics---leave out the shredder--you're better than that !
how is this guitar in comparision to the les paul? has it got that nice bottom and sustain? im just askin' since im looking to buy this guitar as an alternative to an LP..anyone who can help me out?
@bexgh666 I haven't judged the guitar yet because the people playing it have all had sub par tone and amplification, and well, let's be fair...aren't that experienced guitar players. A les paul would probably sound the same in this guy's hands. I'm very curious about Eastwood Guitars, especially in a time where Gibson is charging ridiculous fucking OVERpriced horseshit prices on their Les Pauls ($4,000-$8,000 now). Just need a really competent guitar player, haven't seen one yet with the GP.
@bexgh666 I couldn't fit all I wanted into one message, also look up the Eastwood Classic 6 on Hi Gain demo on youtube to hear what I'm talking about. That guitar is a replica of the Gretsch Country Gentleman and sounds DAMNED good when demoed.
In short, please don't blame the instruments in the wrong hands. Likewise, an $8,000 Les Paul doesn't make you talented. That is all. :)
I'm sorry but I have heard better tone come out of the toilet , after a major dump.
The only signature this guys is worthy of, is shit. He was ahead of the chords and he knows nothing of space and tone. What a lousy none playin, garage at best, hack. I doesn't need to know modes but a little, melodic minor and some serious lessons would help.
Man you must be some kind of guitar player to be able to critique like that. What band are you in? There must be vids and reviews of you all over the 'net but I must be looking in the wrong place cause I can't find your weak azz anywhere- poser.
i really like the solo, it isnt typical blues, but thats cool with me. id say it was fairly powerful. if i had to pick something i didnt like, it would have to be the spoken verses in the middle. i can see why people like it, makes the story seem more believable n all, but live, i just dont like it, it seems cheesy to my ears. just my opinion. but his singing and playing is light years ahead of mine so overall i thought it was a really good performance.
Come on, my fellow QOTSA fans. The solo owned. the solo actually means something within the song. He's conveying to his old lover all of the pain he's felt over the years. It doesn't have to fit a traditional blues mold because it totally has the soul of blues.
This guy was probably sent straight to the loony bin after that performance. amazing! Even if some people bitch that the solo doesn´t fit, every song has to have at least one bit of insanity to make it worth listening
Great rendition. Exceptional skill. Great job, only criticism is that the solo was just too full blown for a blues song. left the groove of the song in complete disarray.
I know it's not an Ovation dude but for me the better way to play the same guitar is the Eastwood! I got one and now i just eat more and color my air to play like Homme xD
Actually, hearing how much it stays in tune after that hot solo proves that it is a great guitar. In my experience though, don't try heavy strings for bending.
And the neck pickup is really dark, so if you want both pickups to remain useful in a song (like this guy does) you should play through a bright amp like a Fender, or a darker one (Marshall type) with a bright setting.

I don't know if anybody remembers Dion Payton and the 43 rd st. Blues but he
would do this kind of thing ie.
extended solos and would pull it off.
Reminds me of Clapton in the old days
Good job fellows

it's a replica of the Ovation GP. Meaning it's as close to the Ovation GP Ultra as you will ever get without spending infinite dollars.

Great version of a great tune.

Good singer and brilliant sound, just too flamboyant. The tremlo picking and two handed tapping wasn't needed and spoilt the feel on the song.

Overly critical.

Hi I was just checking the comments. I agree w/ your comments. Thanks!!! Joey Leone
leoneproductions 4 years ago
I totally agree, it's no longer a Blues song during the solo. Talented, but doesn't fit into a Blues song, at all.
QueensOfKyuss 3 years ago
But the solo definitely has some blues influence
