  • That's gorgeous ! Did you find the year ? I recently rewarded myself (for finishing college) with a custom black beauty. SN: CS 001187. I had to call Gibson to figure it out. apparently mines a 2010, although I have no idea how the numbers work.

  • This is a 1971 Custom. You can tell by the format, and look of the serial number and positioning of the "Made in USA" imprint.

  • search on google for 6230-gibson-logo and click on the first page there. At the second page, first picture is without the dot on the i and is from a 69 SG standard... but go to first page and look the 77 model has exactly same logo as mine.. comment nr. 26 btw.

  • thanks for last year comments, sorry I havent replied all but will try more efficiently from now on.

it is a 69-73 les paul custom (most probably 71 though)

about the logo on headstock, it is known that several 70´s model have it without the dot on the i, aswell as minor differences on the letters... check the G and how the O and N are conected on comment nr. 26 (look at the right top corner of the messages at...

  • mabe about 75 i had one just like it but i traded for a black 75

  • it looks like a 1970-72 les paul standard

  • @CJsoccer4 No, the Standard never had, or has the block inlays, or the split-diamond headstock inlay..

  • Nice guitar man

To be more shure you can get in touch whit the Gibson service and ask them to give you some infos.

Due to the several changes in Gibson serialization procedures, sometimes it's very difficult also for them to date precisely a guitar only from the serial, but giving them the serial plus some closeups pics of the guitar sometimes they can menage to date it anyway and tell you if looks all original.

At list that's what I did to date my 1973 Les Paul custom cherry sunburst

  • sorry bro i rechecked the website and i was wrong sorrry....forgive me ? and u might wanna polish it dude its too pretty a guitar too have smudges on it :) god i wish i could get one but me be too poor and too young to get a job lol -_- child labor laws suck!!

  • not the modern les paul this isnt authentic flamed maple top notice the abcensce of of verticaal streaks in the body ? this an older models but i will not say its fake becuase it is a real one. rock on mate

  • @oAero210o Just because it lacks flamed maple doesn't mean its old.... They've had flamed maple guitars forever.... And LP custom they make today still doesn't come with a flamed top.

  • Great guitar great song.

  • when has anyone seen a les paul thats over 3000$ and is missing the dot on the i im not bashing but some copies have been known to read of real ones ?

  • shreadbringer your a fucking dumb shit, its a 1970s look at the wear and the style of knobs

  • @joshjames086 Ya, i love how people assume that the formula for S/Ns always gives you the correct info! Gibson has to have had the worst S/N system ever....

  • @ebouwman034 They did, up until 1978. It pretty straightforward now. 1st and 5th digits after '78 are the year, you can even tell what day of the year it was made by the 2nd, 3rd, 4th numbers. Custom shop models still sometimes have messed up S/N's though.

  • Haha mine is black and white clearly making it better..but nice guitar......MINE IS BETTER!=)

  • I own a Les Paul Custom as well just bought it but don't really have much info on it, the serial number on neck is 01433947 could someone please comment on this so I will get it to my email? Thanks a bunch, oh it's a sunburst in colour

  • it's an '03 model. 1st digit and 5th digit (0-3) tell you the year on LP's built in the last 35 years or so. 2nd 3rd and 4th digits (143) tell what day of the year it was built.

  • Your guitar was made at the

    Nashville Plant, TN, USA

    May 23rd, 2003

    Production Number: 647

  • I was reading oldest messages first, and though... what? a 2003 lol.. I had mine loooong before that! :P but I did read Newfoundbiker comment, and understood.

btw Newfoundbiker... with a so new guitar as yours, you should try asking into a guitar forum (gibson forum) instead of here. But Im glad you got your answer. :)

  • i havea satellite version of that it came iwthout a pick card but i added a white one and painted mt switxh plate white and my number one pickup white and left the other black.

  • 1974 or 1975.

  • Sweet guitar, Horrible song

  • well mate, I may not like what you hear, but dont have to say it... do I?

  • Unfortunately these are the least desirable of all LPs b/c of the cost cutting efforts made during the Norlin era. However your LP is certainly authentic and current value even for Norlin LPs are in the 3-4K range. Most ppl think that they are only suitable for firewood but I disagree. If it feels and sounds good to you that is all that should matter. If you would like more info on Norlin LPs just search the web, plenty of info available.

  • wow... thanks for the "Norlin" info mate.

Well, may be a Norlin one, but must be of the good ones (lucky me!) :P , Every friend musician and sound engineer that has recorded me, has always commented on how great my gibson sound in comparisson to others (and they have heard and even played lots of them).

    Im happy with it. ;)

  • Continued: The Recording featured low-impedance pickups, many switches and buttons, and a highly specialized cable for impedance-matching to the amplifier. Less noticeable changes included, but were not limited to, maple fingerboards (1976), pickup cavity shielding, and the crossover of the ABR1 Tune-o-matic bridge into the modern day Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge. During the 1970s, the Les Paul body shape was incorporated into other Gibson models, including the S-1, the Sonex, the L6-S, and

  • Continued: The LP body was changed from a one piece mahogany with a maple top into multiple slabs of mahogany with multiple pieced maple tops (also called a "pancake body').

In this era, as well, Gibson began experimenting with new models such as the Les Paul Recording. This model is often eschewed by guitar purists[citation needed]: considered "too full of gadgetry".[citation needed]

  • Taken from Wiki: Subsequent years brought new company ownership to the Gibson Guitar Company. During the "Norlin Era", Gibson Les Paul body designs were greatly altered, most notably, the change to the neck volute. Because the Les Paul had the reputation of having an easily broken neck joint, the volute strengthened the neck where it joined the headstock to avert breakage. To further increase the strength, the neck woods were changed from mahogany to a three-piece maple design.

  • This is what is known as a "Norlin Era" Les Paul and is evident from the 3 piece (pancake) body and neck volute. These were made from 1969 to 1985. From 1975-1977 the number is typically found on a decal on the back of the headstock. This should be an 8 digit number that can be dated by the 1st and 2nd digits as follows: 99 = 1975 , 00= 1976, 06 = 1977. Your SN doesn't follow this pattern so it would have to be after '69, before '75. Gibson SNs 1975 to present follow this pattern: YDDDYRRR

  • Beautiful Les Paul!!!

  • thank u mate :)

  • theres no such thing as an ugly les paul

  • i have one in the antique white!!

    Old School!

  • i think gibsons cost way to much just my opion

  • I dont think that.. in fact, new gibson arent that bad priced. (they arent cheap!... but they aint crap either!)

There are lots of other guitars, costing the same or even more... but they are maybe more oriented to other styles.... like if u were a guitar virtuoso (ala Vai, Satriani, etc..) you should do better with an Ibanez. and so on.

Anyway, is not the guitar that make the "artist", but it helps you to get that sound you are looking to make your own.

  • Dude, you uncle is awesome for giving you this beauty when you were just 14, really nice.

  • Well I started playing guitar at 9, and at 13 I was hoping to buy an electric guitar, so my uncle told me, If by the same time next year you can show me quite a progress, in your guitar playing, I'll give you both the Gibson, and the Fender Twin Reverb 64 model (silverface).

So.. boy did I start practicing!... maybe 4-5 hours a day (while attending school), and 8 hours on weekends and sommerdays :D

My uncle couldnt play anymore, because he got artritis, so his fingers hurted like hell. :(

  • oh and yes... my Uncle was awesome! :)

(hehe... the first CD he gave me when I was 15 years old... was IRON MAIDEN.. and the second AC/DC) :P

  • mamma mia...proprio orgoglioso della gibson ,eh? xD dai, bella custom

  • si aguuss96... e la mia ragazza, che non mi lascia! :P

    grazie.

    --

hehe, dont know if the italian where good enough, but I tried to say, that.. Yes, Im proud of "her" (the guitar" as if it was my girlfriend, that never leaves me.. :P

    Thank you.

  • i still have the stock original vintage p-ups though

  • my guitar is all original... only had to replace the plastic knob on the treble/bass switch that were black originally, but the store didnt have at the time. And... the plastic plate on the cable plug. (but both knob and plate are "Gibson")

  • dude thats sik. I have the same exact 74 version. I only had 2 replace the pickups.

  • but then its not the same value :( xD

  • thats true... but hey!.. you could always get a nice pair of pickups!

(oh... I just wrote a reply on your other comment, and thoug that p-ups, where the frets! :S .. but reading this comment, I understand it was pickups you ment)

So... if you got the original vintage, you could always put them in again to get the right value... (if you havent really fucked it up, to install the newer ones) :P

  • Cool looking guitar. Play her, she deserves it!

  • yes she does! :D

I also hope I can play more with her! :D... have studies, work, and some other professional projects.. not that much money (cause my projects arent cheap)! :P

But as soon as I got some time and recording equipment (PC + soundcard), I will.

  • I'm pretty sure its 73, due to the serial.

  • Hi there..

well, If you see my first comments, you will see that we have narrowed pretty much to "last 69 / early 70". (and there is lots of comments to get all the info about strange serial numbering.

but hey, If you can direct me to something concrete, that tells me that is a 73, so... please! :)

and... as you see, its hard to get completely right.. and thats why I've been unsure for 16 years!

  • price of this guitar?

  • Hi geraldhdez...

its not for sale... but the last person who where interested told me that it would go for 66k norwegian crowns... and that in USD are about 10322. or in EURO.. 7325.

But then again, that would be the price today... and it highen for each year. So he told me that I could even get a 5-10 year later price (and that would be lot more money, cause its exponential how the price is highened), cause someone buying it, is to collect, and then the price will always go even higher

  • omg take great care of that guitar, please!

  • Im doing my best!... in fact, it looked just the same when I got it at 14 years old. (Im 30 now). .. any changes where that plastic knob for treble/bass.. and the black plastic plate where u insert the jack. Buyed both gibson originals.

  • nice guitar man.. i wouldve liked to buy one of those.. but too bad i cant afford one =\

i had a gibson sg but it got stolen :( now i dont have a guitar at all except an acoustic one..

  • myself was stolen a Fender Twin Reverb from 64-70 and.. and I dont have an amp since then.. about 7 years ago!... so I just can connect it to my pc with guitar rig.

But would love my old tweenie

  • I have The 1970 in the Chery Sunbust

  • does it look just like mine?... (I'll check on your vids, to see if u got it there)

  • what year is this and how much?

  • it seems is from late 69 or early 70.

how much what?... :P how much I want for it today?... or how much is it value?

  • i have this at skool

  • I would love that school!... where is it? which is it?.. hehe

  • phh, i think this guitar is getting the best of me....lol

  • ;) handkechief ready mr.

  • Beautiful guitar! I own one in alpine white but always loved this color equally as much. I once played one with this finish from guitar center. It was all beat up and someone has sanded down the back of the neck. Honestly, it was the nicest guitar I've ever played!

  • thanks mate..

ohh... Alpine White is sexy! (in fact I would love to get one, or black, or those more nicer sunburst, or what about the new robot lespaul in "wine red" color!)

  • look my gibson flying v

  • just did :) great guitar, but not my style. A friend of mine (long time ago.. 15 years?) had one and I never really liked it. (must be the V form.. isnt for me) ;)

But its a great guitar :) (btw.. nice wahwah pedal, I had the same one, got stolen) :(

  • oh, I forgot... the video is very like mine... the same way of showing the guitar ;) (am I creating a school?) :P

  • Your guitar was made at the

Kalamazoo or Nashville Plant , USA

    approximately in: 1970, 1971 or 1972

  • thanks for the info.

As I have found myself (and with help of lots of you guys), it seems though its from late (last 2 months) of 69, or first 4 months in 1970.

(reasons of this... the serial beeing on the headstock was started last 2 months of 69, even if the story says from 70... and in 70 the gibs where delivered with cases with red interior, while mine is yellow as those before 70)

But I'll take your info into consideration, in further investigation :)

  • To my mind this is the most beautiful les Paul ever !!!!!!!!! :)

  • Thanks! ;)

your epiphone looks exactly like mine (except the tuners, and the rest of gold.. yours still shining) oh and the pots.. like yours, mine are the oldschool ones (hat-tipe) ;)

you play nice for beeing less than 2 years playing mate :) (aswell as great songs/vids in your account)

    Keep Rockin!

  • Thanka alot !!! :D

  • i hate the in lays on the 1st fret

  • Why´s that? If they are in good condition, it would be seemingless to the fret, and you wouldnt notice it. (or you mean... the looks?)

I think it would be rare/strange looking, not having the first one though

  • Your guitar was made at the

    Kalamazoo Plant, USA

    approximately in: 1963

  • that was the date I always got from any of my guitarrist/musician friends!.. but then searching lots of hours (days) I get its from late (last 2 months) of 69 or first 4 months of 70 :)

Anyway, if you could give me any reason, info or maybe a link, that show me its a 63, I'll be glad :)

  • COOL, Thanks for your nice work!

The guitar is rather cool, you can find it from our site, guitarvillage com cn

    The price is rather low!!!

  • kuonsy118: you mean you sell a new one for 2,6k and the price is rather low? :P

I mean.. this guitar is not the same as a new one for sure. I even heard the 50th anniversary, and didnt liked it in comparisson with mine. (the years on the road, makes it better)

Anyway, I see you got a Thumbs down, and I guess its for your spam... your store may be nice, but please keep it professional aswell (not spamming)

  • Only seeing this beauty and I can feel an orgasm!

    congrats!

  • hehe, as my friend Austin "Danger" Powers would say... "oh, behave"... grrr

    thanks mate.

  • hay man i have a guitar that looks just like that but it is not a Gibson Les Paul i do not know what brand it is it has a butterfly on the neck can tell me what brand it is i looked every where but no one can tell me what brand it is can you

  • Hi there, yours is definitely a Matsumuko Les Paul copy from the 70s... and it doesnt need to be a bad guitar!.. just check if the pick-ups are those who came with the guitar, and if so, change them for some good ones, and you are good to rock! :) (I guess you do already!)

  • Jean Claude Van DAMN !

  • hehe.. ;)

  • whats the name of the song;o ?

  • if you watched to the end of the video, you would realize that I wrote it.. "Best of you" of Foo Fighters.

  • I don't like it's black pickguard.

    I'd prefer a white one

  • oh no... not in this guitar! (with black knobs, and black switch plastic), or white over red/yellow.. heh, there is something called design you know ;) (and color harmony) and that stuff ;)

but you may still like it white, thats your own decision, no doubt about it.

  • It looks like an epiphone to me with a black pick guard xD

  • yeah right... xD

  • dont ever sell that guitar, shes a beauty...

  • she is.. and I will try not to sell it! ;) had it since I was 14 and Im 29 now, thats... heh, 15 years on my hands!

  • beautiful guitar.

  • thanks

  • December 1977

  • sorry, I dont think so ;)

  • if you wanna know how old it is email gibson and give them the serial number on the head stock.

  • I did, 5 years ago... never got an answer!

then I tried 2 years ago, and they told me that I had to ask the "Custom" guys, cause for Gibson (not custom department) would be almost impossible.

then I contacted inmediatly with Custom, but never got an answer either. (even I sent pictures of it)

  • the pirce of one gibson les paul it's

    $8.000 =D

  • It has a volute, so it would be early 70's.

  • how much does a gibson les paul cost do u think?(a new one)

    Please Reply

  • all i can help you with there is a gibson les paul will cost up in the 1000's

  • A decent Gibson Les Paul will run you around $2000, although most will hit $3000+.

  • its like 4000 or 3000 for git..

  • well a gibson les paul custom is $3400

the studios which are cheaper start at $900

and there are many more models of les pauls

  • thats right.. and thats still "new" prices, so I could get lots for mine, being in great used condition.

But.. not going to sell it, in the near future.

  • SWEET!!!!!!!

  • I have the same guitar! They Rock! (it's the EXACT SAME, gold hard ware and everything)

  • and yours from 74, so its kind of start-mid 70's for sure. :)

  • k i have that guitar but i just dont like how it looks..idk why hahaha

  • hehe.. in fact Im not that crazy about the looks either, I think its so heavy that it makes you start (after the years) inventing excuses so you can feel great about changing it! :P and.. I do like the Ibanez Egen1 :P

  • I think this guitar is the same as "euroboy" from turbonegro uses! then it would be from '79!

  • yes, it looks like exactly his!.. got a friend in norway, who knows his girlfriend, so I was thinking of asking ;)

But mine is still an earlier model... in the pots says 73, but I believe is a bit earlier, cause I just found on net a musician that has a 73 model with nr. 180xxx and mine is 127xxx so figure. (both les paul customs)

  • i have that same one but mines a ice tea burst or something, theres a picture of it for my profile picture, my grandfather gave the guitar, gold hardware, pearl inlays, grover tuning keys man i love that guitar even with the marshall mg 30w it plays nice, my grandfather says its a 2008 model, he got from a friend and gave me the guitar because he doesn't have time to play alot

  • Wow... lucky! ;) hehe.

I got it from my uncle/godfather when I was 14, and Im 29 now.

    Have great time with it!

  • i got the same guitar !:)

  • nice!, same old? or a newer one? (older?) make a vid of it. I see you play drums, but would be great if you took a sec to make a vid (put some lights though) ;)

  • 1976 !

  • ok, well mine is a bit older, but thats not so important. You got a great guitar!

  • thanks

  • Ya mine was 1970 something too!

  • Actually I remember, It's 1974 it came out!

  • Hi there GibsonLesPaul74,

Just saw your gibson, and looks very like mine does.. but there are differences like the knobs (mine are older type), the swith knob (treble-bass) is black on mine (the original was), and if you see in my vid, the tuners are diferent aswell (older type than yours). But you got a nice guitar there.. same color as mine! :)

    Cheers.

  • Always found mailing Gibson direct to have quick responses on what is what

  • I did several years ago, and they answered with a very "custom" answer, something like: We're sorry, but sometimes its hard even for us to date exactly a custom guitar!! (I sent pictures of it aswell as the number).

I replied but never got answered again.

  • beautiful guitar

  • Thanks mate

  • les pauls are great guitars. nice clean pickup and great sound...what more could you want? thats why the guitarist in our band plays one. check it out

  • Believe me... I could want an amp!! :P

My Fender Twin Reverb from 64 got stolen some years ago, and I had to buy in urge cause I was active in a band, so I got into a rack system, with marshall,etc..

But now I dont have any amp (not even a shitty one), and its killing me! :(

  • hey, i just bought a 1969 custom and from the research i did dating that yours looks like a '70 or '71 due to the 'made in usa' stamp which was first introduced in 1970, hope this helps

  • pretty much you got it, the thing is that it seems that they started with "made in usa" stamped some months before 1970 (meaning, end 1969), and even if by the serial I can assume its from start of the 70's, it seems that the case that it came with (yellow interior) was discontinued the 31st desember 69, and then they started with the red interior from 1st january that's why it may be from last one of the 69.

But its not such a big deal,if its from last 2 months of 69 of first 4 months of 70.

  • Here's another clue: Check the potcodes! If the potentiometers in there are original they should begin with 137 (which means CTS, the brand that makes potentiometers) followed by the year, followed by the week, For example: 1377735 means the 35th week of 1977. Open the cavity on the back carefully.

  • Your Guitar is a 63' actually =]

very beautiful. its a shame you can't play it. I would die for the chance to.

  • Hi there... 63? you think so? where you get that info from? (would like to know).

I've tested to record something but from the pc with guitar rig 3 + the cameras mic, and had clipping problems (and sounded kind of shit). I'll keep trying to do test though, lets see if something cames up good enough.

And... if any in europe has a spare amp without use and feel like giving it away, I'll be pleased getting it! ;)

  • if you look up serial number age tables for gibsons it'll tell you the range of serial numbers made in any given year. =]

  • I did that the first time and yes it gave me 63-64, but then again, that list werent the "made in USA" ones...

well, lets still search about it, and post it please! ;)

What would you guys pay for it, if it was for sale?

  • All gibsons are made in USA hahah. but that's ok.

well that year isn't necessarily so sought after, but its still pretty, probably in the 3000-4000 range. somewhere in there, taken for granted that its in good condition: i.e. mint. but who knows maybe more, i'm not a collector, just an ameteur buff =]

    nice axe, though, man.

  • thanks for your reply!

I know gibsons are made in USA, but not all of them got it on the headstock under the serial number as mine, thats why some numbers are for those that hasnt serial and made in USA stamped on the headstock like mine and other serials are for those like mine.

google: Gibson 1970's style stamped serial

and in the first result, click on it, and go to serial numbers and factory order numbers

and search for: "1970's style stamped" (without quotes)

  • in addition, at the same page (at start) over serial numbers and factory order numbers, you got "gibson cases", and there a info about those.. in the picture, mine is the one with yellow interior.

  • So...do you play it?:P

  • Oh man... I wish!! right now it misses one string and got no money!... neither an amp! :( so I'll see when I get some euros to buy a string set, and maybe I do a recording with my cam and Native Instruments Guitar Rig 3 thru Harman Kardon Soundstick II speakers! :P

  • im getting a standard 60s neck les paul fro my bday

    CANT WAIT

  • you lucky bastard! ;) hehe... anyways its fantastic to own such a guitar as mine aswell, but its kind of a pain too. Not only because of the weight, but because of the responsability that you have to take, I would have a cheaper guitar just for concerts and wouldnt care if I scratched it, or dumped into the wall or any other "usual" stuff that happens. But the guitar is lovely indeed

  • i dont no wether to get a epi les paul black beauty or a epi les paul standerd or the zakk wyled epi les paul can some 1 give advice i like to play all the guns and roses songs and all the stuff that slash plays can some tell what i should get thanks

  • get the les paul custon cherry top it sounds beautiful

  • Hi there, take a tour into the shop, and try them in situ aswell as the amp (together), thats the best recomendation any1 can give you. (also depends on the money you gonna spend, but no better than you to check this up in the store, and/or internet)

  • "Your guitar was made at the

Kalamazoo or Nashville Plant , USA

    approximately in: 1970, 1971 or 1972"

It was from the Gibson Serial Number Decoder.

  • Thanks for the info, but I still would be happy to know exactly the birth date and why not the place aswell :)

  • Have you already contacted the people from Gibson? Maybe they'll know. Just go to the site and click "support".

  • FACHA DE MIERDA

  • Dime... para tí que es un facha? (si me contestas te prometo una contestación que te va a gustar. (y eso teniendo cuidado, que youtube censura)

  • HEY!!! I have the same guitar! 1970 Custom, red sunburst just like yours, case has red interior, s/n 18151XX. I stumbled into it in the nineties and picked up as a back up to my 74 Tobacco burst Custom. The two are a great pair, although the 74 is looking rough these days. If your back can handle it, these things just plain rock!

  • your sn got 7 digits? (mine only 6)and from your number seems beein a newer one? hmm... (if serials has any number relation that is). (does it say made in usa in the stock?)

Their are lovely guitars, but as you said, if your back can handle it! (I had mine now for 15 years, was buyed new by my uncle, and he gave it to me when his back didnt handle it anymore).

  • fuck the foo fighters...

  • fuck u2

  • between 1970-73

  • yes BradleyJohnHunt, more exactly from mid 69 and first quarter of 71, thats the most close anyone (at the moment) can get to the exact date, as there is the detail with the case, beeing black with silver/aluminium borders and most important yellow interior!, from 70-71 they started to come with red interior. This detail will atleast tell us that it isnt from 72-73.

but would be great if any 100% fact knower do know when exactly they started with the red interior (in the cases). Thanks

  • you gotta clip those strings dude

  • my bad... :P (I usually do it when Im going to play at gigs, but for home playing I sometimes forget) <-- aint that stupid?

  • cool.....

    wait.

    why didnt you play it?

  • hehe, sorry for that!... but stay tuned, as Im getting my pc overhauled and will be getting some stuff recorded (audio & video).

By the way, I dont have an amp right now, and Im going to use Guitar Rig 3 on pc.

    ;)

  • Oh.. forgot.

In the 60´s the cases that came with les paul custom, was black (with metalic/alu rim) and yellow interior (as mine). and in the 70´s they changed to red interior.

So now its between mid 69 and mid 70... would be great to know exactly when they changed to red interior.

Thanks for your comments and help

  • I´ve been watching a website with lots of gibson info, my conclusions: same model started production in mid 69 with 3 pieces body and 3 pieces neck too and has the volute on headstock behind the bolt. Then according to the serial number, it seems that may be from the end of 1970 or start 1971.I believe is from end 1970, since 100xxx started in mid 69 and mine is 127xxx and it went upto 199xxx at 1975.

Well that checked up, now it remains to see the Paf Humbucking PickUps. will let you know.

  • I bought one just like it brand new in 1973 or 1974. It had a cherry sunburst finish, small tune-o-matic, and black plastic. One of the best 70s Les Pauls I ever owned. Your guitar is probably a 1973 or 1974.

  • Ahhh, she's beautiful!

Love the condition and the finish. Take it Gibson PAFs do it for you then?

  • Hi !

By the serial, it can be dated from 1970 to 1975.

If the pots are original, you can date the guitar with more precision thanks to the serial number (what can be 137yyww - yy : year & ww : week of the year. i.e. : 1377135 for 35th week of 1971)
