  • It is road legal because the vehicle which is quick to convert back to tyres is road legal too !! It was quite good on the hill so no idea why they were not developed further.

  • It use to belong to my family when it worked for a living taking deer of the hill. My gardfather bought it from Lord Arthus Rank who used it on a Grouse Moor near Nairn. It was sold to a family friend & when he died it was bought back by Cuthbertson who restored it (It was always in good condition though). I last drive it in 1982 I think. We are at Newtonmore in the Scottish Highlands and it was once used to rescue a crew of Hydro Electric workers in a blizzard on the Corrieyarrik Pass.

  • I thought they were called matt tracks?

  • That's unnecessary. A land rover only needs tires and it can conquer any obstacle lol.

  • thats no land rover, thats an ancient artifact. go put it back in the museum

  • SO FUCKIN FAKE U OWE ME 0:31 SECONS OF MY LIFE BACK

  • @carifyme So you clicked on a video titled 'land rover on tank tracks' saw a land rover on tank traps and you're complaining about it?

Riiiiiiight. Are you thick or just american?

  • @carifyme So you clicked on a video titled 'land rover on tank tracks' saw a land rover on tank traps and you're complaining about it? And your complaint is that he wasted your time despite the fact you probably about the same amount of time to post your comment.

  • @clearairturbulance NOOO im a spick in a civic!

  • i'd like to see that thing in action.

  • I'd bet it could climb even the trickiest of the seabound mamals.

  • There is no camera, which is of such poor quality it can absorb!

  • fake is a scale model

  • where did you buy those tracks from?

  • pinkpanther in background

  • is it street legal

  • depends on where you live. they are in more places than you would think though.

  • mattracks

  • its a cuthbertson conversion mattracks copied their idea

  • It's called a Cuthbertson

  • Also i think that that ride height for a 4x4 is perfect.

  • I've sat inside that, at the museum.

  • hi mate where was that footage taken

  • Was this offered as an option from the factory?

For those who may not know- in the 1970's British auto industry was near ruined (mainly poor management& Labour government) - so near all British car cos were absorbed into British Leyland.

Brit cars got an unfair perpetual reputation as being unreliable- at the time they were due to Leylands shocking quality control.

Land Rover kept Leyland and Rover afloat for years

I've had Jags, Landies, Rovers, and a Jenson- never again- only German for me

  • Gotta to hand it to Land Rover though- when did BMW bring out their first 4x4? only after they bought Land Rover and used the technology!

  • Nice Pinky.

  • Ive Been there! For the land rover trackNAV challenge final, it was amazing, We Won! :)

  • A beutiful IIa with a conversion by the firm of Cuthbertson & Sons, at Biggar in Scotland. It is a stand alone sub frame that has the same dimentions as the 88. In tests it had a tendencey to borrow stright ahead on an incline as opposed to climbing. Too much weight. Research was halted in the early seventies. Cool post. Thanks.

  • No problem mate!

  • There is also the Centaur as well, isn't there?

  • Sorry, you'll have to tell me what a centaur is!

  • The Centaur was a half-track landrover, most were based on stage ! v8s but one was built with an early 110 cab.

  • the 110 centaur is at the Tank Museum in Bovington, ive got a video of it from the 2008 tankfest

  • ive been there too, good museum, even my type of landy is standing there (ninety).

the even have a special parking place for landies and jags ;)

  • their cuthbert tracks, well rare... where did u see them?

  • the heritage motor centre, gaydon, warickshire (England)

  • cool, i wouldn't mind seeing them some day as ive read a lot about them but never seen them.

  • Yea, its a brilliant museum to go to! sorry about the poor video quality!
