  • FUN FACT: The leave the gun, take the cannoli was improvised

  • George Castanza would have taken the calzone , and left the gun.

  • Leave the Justin Bieber, take the cannoli.

  • I'm surprised this line was not recycled on "The Sopranos." Tony's crew sure loved their cannolis.

  • watch the video, leave the comment

  • I watched the Godfather in a film class i'm taking in college, however I missed how it led up to this scene. Why did they kill this man? Is the balding guy a really good spy in the Corleone family? Or was the driver a spy/failed to serve the family?

  • @ByronBanquo The Driver was "Sick" the day the godfather was shot but he really ha a han in the shootin

  • @lordvoldemort578 Ohhhhh. Okay. Awesome! Thank you so much for clearing that up.

  • The Statue of Liberty has her back turned as if to say "I take no responsibilty if for your thugs"

  • I love how the Statue of Liberty is in the background. Nice touch.

  • "Leave the connolli. Take the cannabis." Great line.

  • @DareYouNotToClick1 no, you will need the connoli for later, when you get the munchies )

  • ...Clemenza's overriding responsibility is to his family. He takes a moment out of his routine madness to remember that he had promised his wife that he would bring dessert home. His instruction to his partner in crime is an entire moral manifesto in six little words: 'Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.'---Sarah Vowell. I think I never really appreciated this scene until I read this,

  • yes me

  • And to think... that was completely adlibbed...

  • @AssassinOfRomeAOR really? tell me more.

  • @InnocenceExperience I saw a video of the best adlibs in movie history and this was... number three I think. It was beaten by A Clockwork Orange's Singing in the Rain and something else. It said that during this scene, there was no dialouge.

  • Everybody hates Mafia!

  • Epic shit!

  • That awkward moment when you forget the cannoli...

  • It's almost incredible this line was improved by Castellano.

  • I am I don't know why it just hit me.

  • is anyone else just going through random godfather clips?

  • ORANGE and dies on a heartattack !!!!!! it is very strange

  • you know whats really strange ? ORANGES are like an Angel of Death or smething in The Godftaher 1............ 1.In the beginning where Clemenza is dancin' Paulie Gatto gives him Whine and in this whine i an Orange..whats happenend later ? Gatto gets whacked and Clemeza dies too (it stays in the second book and they say it in second movie) 2. Don Corleone orders some Orangen and paprika and gets shot (but survives) and nearly at the end of The Godfaher Don Corleon scares his grandchild with an

  • @wolkenkratzermarvin Wasn't there something like that in the Sopranos also? But I think eggs replaced oranges. I never thought about that with the oranges. Makes sense now that I think about it.

  • @231thedream : yeah ? well i looked all The Sopranos episodes and in one scene i think carmella lets some eggs fall on the ground thats but thats the only time i see a scene with eggs ^^

  • @wolkenkratzermarvin i havent seen all the episodes, but the article I read made such a big deal about the eggs, i figured it was a big deal. guess not.

  • Entourage

  • 4 people left the cannoli

  • Four morons forgot the cannoli.

  • I used to be a mafia boss like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

  • @mobspeak I used to make Skyrim jokes, then I got laid.

  • @PalerLaze You used to get laid, now you make Skyrim jokes..

  • whats the song name at 0:08 ? i really need this song

    thx

  • @MrTerroristAKAMatt Nino Rota - The Godfather Waltz

  • The gunshots sounded like a cap gun I use to play with when i was a kid.

  • just another day in Staten Island...

  • That line was reported to have been adlibbed.

  • I am amazed with these questions. The Godfather is a classic. It's in the AFI top ten. You must see it, if you never see another movie in your life.

  • why he told the other dude to leave the gun into the car , is not that a bad idea

  • best sound track of all mobster movies, arriba la mafia

  • Holy cannol

  • 290 people left the gun

  • Do you guys see the guy open and shut his eye toward the end?

  • Is that DeNiro?

  • @CarissimiRBeast No that's Tom Rosqui playing Rocco

  • 4 people took the gun.

  • I'll bake him a cannoli he can't refuse.

  • omg my bf loves this

  • Is he dead?

  • I liked the movie so much. But I think I don't get this line. someone please explain it to me. I already read few of the comments here but still not get it

  • @milanista3ksa Earlier in he film, Clemenza's wife asks him to pick up some canolies. Thats why he asks him to grab the canolies.

  • @milanista3ksa It's the cold, matter of fact way the line is delivered. The pastries seem more of an issue to him, than the life they've just taken.

  • @ExternalInputs oh, now I get it. kinda harsh :(.. thank you.

  • Everyone hates Chris!

  • there Will never be a movie like this...Sure

  • @Number4Productionz they took the gun instead.

  • The "Take the Cannoli" part was adlibed by the actor during a rehearsal, and everyone thought it was so perfect they decided to keep it in the film.

  • @detroyes2 I love information like this.

  • @superesterhazt @jmarrvin Leave the overused comments, Take the cannoli.

  • Poor Paulie Gatto...he just had too many colds....

  • 4 people left the cannoli

  • Im eating a cannoli right now.

    Worth a gun.

  • saying "leave the gun and take de cannoli" like a boss

  • 4 ppl doesn't like Cannoli:))

  • I own this film on VHS and DVD and have seen it no less than 200x. But right now, 11 yrs after I first saw Godfather part I, this is the moment I have bit into my first cannoli and who else to celebrate this momentous occasion with other than Clemenza?

  • Memorable. Do you know that the "take the cannoli" part wasn´t in the script. But it's definitely cool

  • Leave the cannoli, Take the pizza

  • Dude....I love Clemenza!!

  • this makes me incredibly hungry for cannoli

  • @matchbox555 Go watch your fucking cartoons then, kiddo'

  • @AddictionToGaming Trolled, hard.

  • @matchbox555 Non c'è nessun questo cinematografo classico e brillante. Siete una piezzo di merda.

  • @matchbox555

go tell your local capo that

  • Pissing in the field= 30 seconds of pure windswept pleasure.

    Knocking off a snitch= $2.oo if bullets

Remembering to bring the Cannoli = PRICELESS

  • @robi2000 nice!

  • Fat bastard only thinks about his god damn cannoli

  • @kashpc His wife says to him, in a early scene "remember the cannoli" :)

  • @deniz8210 Shit... I knew that goddamn freak had to do something with this... :P

  • I have always wondered why Clemenza left his car there? They coulda killed Paulie any way they wanted to. Made him talk and tortured his ass, killed him in a painful way.

  • @PepperWhite62 in the book they describe how they wanted Paulie Gatto's body to be found as a warning to other would-be traitors in the Family. Normally they would have just made the body disappear but this was a special circumstance. Plus, it wasn't Clemenza's own car, it was Paulie's.

  • @PepperWhite62 According to the book (which I highly recomend) it was Paulie's car. They wanted the body found so that the Turk would know that his snitch had been found out... and to send a message to Five Families that, despite their recent misfortune, the Corleone Family hadn't gone soft or stupid.

  • nice

  • When Clemenza got home his wife asked him why there was sauce on the cannoli packaging.

  • Canelones, deliciosos!

  • The four people who disliked this were Paulie's relatives

  • "Leave the Gun, Take the Canolies"

  • sounds like a bb gun :P

  • I'm so glad I'm 47. Otherwise I would think "Harry & The Hendersons" was an epic film.

  • Dudes.. There's a message in it.. Leave the gun, take the cannoli.. Cannoli is known as a sweet food.. It means here that move and and forget the sad past (leaving the gun).. Plus.. it's better to leave the (untraceable) gun.. than being caught red handed with it, in case some police or regular people see's them.

  • @hindiakosipels

Could be he's just a fat dessert-lusting bastard too. Occam's razor an' all.

  • E.P.I.C

  • Never steal a gangster's cannoli...

  • we go to ravoli's where you can get canolli's

  • this is a nice movie

  • Clemenza is really torn up over the shooting of his protege', Paulie. He should've left a cannoli w/ Paulie as a Sicilian message: Paulie sleeps w/ da pastries.

  • Because Paulie betrayed the family, he lost his Connoli.

  • Comment removed

  • Take the gun Leave the cannoli

  • 3 people left the connolis

  • The best part is when he shows Al Pacino how to "Shove in all your sausage and meatballs!" You'll never know when you'll have to cook for 20 guys sometime!

  • never had it before but wanted to try cannolis.

    btw, i'm chinese

  • Those musta' been some fuckin' cannolis!

  • if they left the cannoli, the detectives bring it to the guinea bakery where it was purchased, and perhaps the police find out who picked up that particular package of pastry. Clemenza is too fucking perspicacious to go down like that.

  • @7mikethebike

excellent usage of the word perspicacious sir.

  • @7mikethebike he may just wanted to eat them :)

  • @7mikethebike Your right, They would find the Bite marks and tell him that they were telling his wife that he ate some before her and the kids got to, and they will end up like Paulie.

  • Clemenza is the fucking man

  • @ANTHOHKNEE I love that fat fuck, he looks just like my uncle Joey! Fugetabout it!!

  • dam fuck shit ass hole

  • This movie got 2 things I love, guns and connolis.

  • m0:00re

  • boss

  • @godfather Omg can I buy ur acc

  • i don't think its right to glorify violence and celebrate murder...you people should be thrown in mental hospitals.

  • @tally1219 Its not "celebrating" murder its just a memorable scene. The Godfather shows the life of mafia gangsters and murder was a big part of it. It was a rich life but it was full of danger and tragedy. I love this movie because of it's cinematic view on how tough it is to be a mobster, but I don't celebrate murder. As Don Vito said "Were not murderers despite of what this undertaker says"

  • @tally1219 It is a movie, and we don't glorify violence and celebrate murder. It is simply a famous part of the Godfather. And if we do celebrate and glorify violence and murder, then many directors, actor, producers, and even normal day people do. Great over 3/4 of the World population in mental hospitals.

  • @tally1219 oh mr sensitive over here, its a mob movie what do u expect? let me guess youre a bullshit liberal who thinks everyone can get along and the world is perfect right? wrong, live in reality. are u going to tell the wild lions in Africa that u dont like how they kill their prey too, maybe they should be nicer instead of biting down on a baby zebras neck to sufficate them? yeah i think u are one of those people. not saying violence is good but this is a movie and things like this do happn

  • @tally1219

You're twice right, because it's not the movie that glorifies violence, but the stupid gangster-wannabes that comment here. The whole saga is an epic unfolding of the consequences of one man's actions (Michael Corleone) when he turns his back on all that was good about him and chooses to embrace violence, revenge and a life of crime.

  • @Wallylex Exactly. Michael lost his first wife, his second one (divorce), his sons (distanced away by their mother), killed his brother, saw his daughter die before his eyes....he lost his real family & all what's precious to a man, and eventually died all alone...That was the concept that moved me about this movie.

  • 3 people took the gun and forgot the cannoli!

  • @superesterhazy 4 people took the gun and left the cannoli

  • Comment removed

  • why does he use a cap gun

  • @Moonshinedistiller those cap guns are deadly things!

  • Classic line by Clemenza! Words of wisdom...I should have those words put on a shirt!

  • It appears that 2 people have lost their cannoli.

  • ⬆ Thumbs up if you subscribed to Godfather on YouTube

  • @juventino8408 Actually in Sicilian! That's awesome! Love the dialect. Grazie juventino8408

  • @juventino8408 dassala? pigghiami? ma che cazzo dici...

  • @ciosky93 testa di cazzo e siciliano se nn sai le cose nn parlare ok

  • Comment removed

  • How funny! Classic.

  • his wife did tell him to not forget the cannoli.......there would've been hell to pay for clemenza if he forgot it lol

  • 1 must be Paulie

  • Epic... I loved that the line " take the cannoli" was ad-libbed. It was not originally in the script, but they kept it!!

  • What does cannoli mean ?

  • @ShinobiSosp12 Dont know, but it is a delicous sicilan treat. If have wip cream as i one time got, it not the reall thing. The filling is made with ricotia cheese. yum i want one know

  • @ShinobiSosp12 its an italian snack

  • @ShinobiSosp12 they're a pastry (the singular word is "cannolo") made with a sweet filling that uses ricotta cheese but it doesn't taste "cheesy", just rich. the traditional recipe uses citron and sometimes crumbled pistachios, but some people put in chocolate bits instead. the word means "little tube" or "little reed" in Italian. They're friggin awesome.

  • In the book the reason for this killing is explained in much greater detail

  • 0:18 If u wanna get straight to the good part.

  • Wow 3 shots seemed overdone

  • #EPIC

  • I dont realy understant what is that live the gun whay mafia do that ..
