  • i cant think of a more dope intro to game than this

  • Thinking of doing a cosplay from this, but not sure if I should do Chris, Queen, or get a tan and do Aila. I'd need a wig for Chris, but for Queen I'd just need to darken my hair a little and cut it, and for Aila I'd just need a different hairstyle.

  • reading vinland saga manga to this is epic. Viking wars + epic theme = win.

  • suikoden was and will always be one of the most incredible games i had ever played

  • Ever since I saw this on G4 back when it really was G4 (the program Cinematech, to be more specific), I fell in love with the anime opening and the music. I swear, I have the ambition to come up with some story or game idea like this, only with a lot more anthropomorphic characters to join with or fight against humans.

  • For me, this is the best opening to a video game.

The song is hypnotically catchy and the animation is top notch.

Few games pull off a truly jaw-dropping opening, and Suikoden III does it right!

    Such an underrated series.

  • @TheDarkchild1980 Yes this is definitely one of the greatest openings i've seen. I love the music, and I love Chris she is so tough for being a chick. But my fav is the duck and the kid I forget his name I know it starts with H. I just wish Thomas castle was bigger, or mansion should have been a fort/castle like most Suikoden games.

  • @UchihaGamer111 I totally here you on Chris. She's one of the few female video game protagonists that didn't dress like a slut and wasn't explotive sexually.

There were a number of strong female characters in all the games, which is a big plus in my book. In this game alone, we have Chris, Queen, Cecile, Lucia, that old gypsy woman who lived at Thomas castle whose name escapes me. Again, underrated game.

  • They should have made an anime series off of this game.

  • Aside from Chris, I liked Thomas' story as well. The idea of being a weak master of a Mansion becoming a strong leader bringing everyone together.

  • If they made an anime of this i would watch it :D

  • Goddamn the music is beautiful!

  • they should just suprise us and make another oe for ps3 and xbox 360 that would be EPIC... cause this had one of the most original and best concepts ive seen bulding an army, ur own base of operations a great series

  • IMO, Suikoden 2 is the best!

  • Is this Suikoden good? Better than I, II or V? (I won't ask about IV because I've heard that it's rlly bad xD)

  • @Otnixin i'v played all Suikoden's and THIS is my favorite!

  • GAWD dammit! i love this too muchT.T

  • i just got another copy of this game again recently. I'm so glad im able to play it again. Such an epic game!

  • Couldn't help but fall in love with this game. 4 is rough to like, and 5 is looking incredibly good.

  • the best of all is suikoden 2

  • 0:36

How I wish that were true...

  • The parts that are in the intro but not in the game is likely planned content and characters that didn't make into the game somehow.

  • Easily my favourite Suikoden game in the series, and it had an awesome opening. I wish a sequel could happen so we could see some of these characters again (I know about 4 and 5, but those take place in the past).

What bugs me the most about this opening is that there are a few parts here that don't happen at all in the game (those that have played it will know what I'm talking about).

  • I heard about this during Extra Credits cutscenes episode. Indeed, this was quite awesome.

  • Thumbs up if the new Extra Credits video brought you here

  • @HyrdaRancher The video reminded me of this, and I'm having a fit of nostalgia right now watching it

  • Lady Chris was and still is soooooooo f***ing HOT!!!!! Chicks in plate mail RULE!!!!!!

  • How do you convert Suikoden 2 data to Suikoden 3?

  • @starkingxxx I'm sure you've already figured it out by now, but..You need to of beaten Suikoden 2 with the 108 stars of destiny ending. Unfortunately the only thing you get is an extra play, two if it's Suikoden 1 and 2 data.

  • :D

  • Y'know, at 0:35 when it says "The Story Never ends", I really wish that were true. But something good or even great and amazing never lasts forever. More-so, the longer something good goes on the more chance it has to become something bad or mediocre, look at the Final Fantasy series. There has not been a major Suikoden since Suikoden V, which was over coincidentally, five years ago. Every day that goes by, the chances of a Suikoden VI dwindle, and it's really a shame.

  • @MassMisanthropy

Well, there is that new Suikoden game for the PSP that's coming out. It looks horribly generic, though. Konami DID disband its RPG team, and most of them were hired at Tri-Ace, so the chances of a new Suikoden masterpiece are really, REALLY slim.

  • @MassMisanthropy Suikoden is based on the chinese classic Shui hu zhuan (The water margin) Playing the games made me interested in the book. Reading the book made me interested in learning chinese. Learning chinese made me interested in moving to China. Moving to China made my life a lot more interesting. I have now visited the places where many of the characters from the book were born, where they fought and died. Next time there is evil in the country, once again 108 heroes will be born.

  • This was the best Suikoden game. All the other Suikoden’s are all just collectables like FFX-2.

  • @Bktend11 TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @Bktend11 Have you EVER played Suikoden II?

    No, seriously, have you?

  • @RebornAleph

Obviously he has not. No human being in their right mind would categorize Suikoden III as the SOLE good Suikoden. Nor would anybody who has played Suikoden II dare to place it in the "Only a collectable" category.

  • @RebornAleph best game ever!

  • @RebornAleph my god is it amazing. i have a hard time choosing which is better though (II or III). II is such a great character driven story, but III was the first one i played and will always hold a special place in my heart.

  • @thedandynad That first one is always really special to us. That would be II for me, but after playing all of the rest, I quickly realized that the entire series always feels incomplete if ANY of all of its games were changed. I think every single Suikoden is awesome in its own way and they all make up one of the greatest RPG series to have ever existed.

Final Fantasy is honestly overrated (especially the latest games). Nothing can phase me more than the Suikoden series up until today.

  • @RebornAleph No Haven't played Suikoden II, not yet. I hear it is very good like FFVI good compaired to FFVII. I ordered it 2 months ago and I haven't started a file in it yet. I'm too spoiled off of Suikoden IV and V with Jeane being a playable character. lol

  • this was my favorite suikoden, but if they update the first and don't screw it up then i might change my mind. the first had a great story, and we didn't care how it looked back then. awsome series!!! :)

  • this was my favorite suikoden, but if they update the first and don't screw it up then i might change my mind. the first had a great story, and we didn't care how it looked back then. awsome series!!! :)

  • WE DEMAND AN ANIME BASED ON SUIKODEN!!!!

  • This is the orginal Plot twist game there was at least 4 different 1's in this game lol it was amazing

  • I remember watching this opening over and over years ago!

I'll just watch it one more time...

  • Looks like a Studio ghibli intro...

    Marvelous.

  • One of my fav ps2 games....next to Kindom hearts of course

  • I have to say Suikoden 4 sucked. Suikoden 2, made me cry and it was what made me love the whole franchise all the more. Suikoden 3 exceeded my expectation from Suikoden 2, helloooooo better animation? :P Suikoden 4, I had to wait freakin AGES for the fight to upload... so I quit on it. Suikoden 5... hell yeah, I LOVE IT!!! :D they really should have made the series into an anime... I WILL BUY IT AND I WOULD EVEN FLY TO JAPAN FOR IT!!!

  • i love how in the Suikoden series, excepting maybe 4, you get this sense of everyone doing what they thought was right. Our sympathies invariably lie, of course, with the protagonists, but we get the sense that had things been different, the main Good Guy could very easily have become the main Bad Guy.

  • My favourite Suikoden theme and game. Beautiful.

  • How old is this game? And look at this awesome animation it got there.Best Suikoden intro so far.

  • The manga for Suikoden III was awesome I still have them and they are my favourite, it gives you a fair bit of good history on what happens in 1 and 2 and the storyline is very good. I have not yet played any of the games although would like to eventually get them....of course I hear the price in 1 & 2 are quite expensive ranging in the $200 or more.

  • do you know the title of this theme? I was looking for this song...

  • The manga for this is wonderful! If you like Suikoden 3, try and hunt it down!

  • Well there was a manga, but I haven't heard of a anime for this.

  • It's really surprising that there isn't a suikoden anime already given the huge fanbase the series has.

  • Suiko 1 - nice(the story is great)

    Suiko 2 - AWESOME!!!(Tear jerking endings)

Suiko 3 -Great(Gameplay is Great but the story is F*** up I expect that I name the hero/ previous flame champion to be the MC but SH*T he is a NPC)

Suiko 4 -Good(Game play is somewhat lame but the Story is great just feels like suiko 2 because of the MC and Snow[e])

Suiko 5 - Somewhat awesome(Storyline is great. especially at saving Lyon[the MC body guard] Gameplay is back at to suiko 2 which is NICE)

    Just my opinion

  • for the past 6 years I've been stuck near the end of this game. I'm stuck fighting the true element rune boss. I have Geddeo as my flame champion

    Geddeo

    Jacques

    Ace

    Joker(Pale gate rune)

    Queen

    Edge

and all my characters are at lvl 60 as well.

  • im playing suikoden 3 right now. I'm loving the way there's 3 separate storys that slowly join together the more you play. my only complaint is that whenever there's dialogue, there's no bg music at all, just silence as you're reading the dialogue. most rpg's have music during dialogue to set the mood. but oh well, it doesnt ruin the game for me, just a little annoying.

  • one of the best games out there and making a review later on if anyone is interested

  • the last good suikoden though I did hate that it was set in a time way past viktor's era he was my favorite character edge had the king dragon sword but it wasn't the same 4 sucked but 5 was ok even thought the main character looks like a girl georg made up for that

  • simply .. Suikoden II was one of the best games at that time

III had the best introduction ever!

wish they could make another great story like II used to be ~

  • Comment removed

  • Lol... I agree, IV was bad. It was a rocky transition into 3D... But 4 was better and 5 was back to the good ole Suikoden 1 and 2 storyline caliber.

  • Suikoden 4 and 5 are great. I played 5 until i finished the game!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suikoden 2 is still te best and it`s damn rare. Suikoden 3 is also a great game. I own this game but never played it because i have a European ps2. This game was US only and i stil hate Konami for it.

I thinking to buy u NTSC Ps2 for this great game.

  • the music is awesome, i love it ^^ but suikoden II is the best ever, this is unreachable :D

  • Ah such memories. Back then I was taken back from how smooth and beautiful the animation was and even to these days I find this intro animation to be damn incredible.

I mean hell it's a game intro and yet better animated than a lot of crap they pass as animation these days.

  • My favorite RPG ever~!!! Even Final Fantasy can't top it. Even only the new Suikoden were just as good.

  • i bought the PS2 just to play this game :P

  • Only played III, and IV. I loved III, and didn't mind IV, honestly. On a side note, I always liked Hugo best >.>

  • Suikoden is one of the best games

I'm waiting for new game in PS3

you have my 5 stars =)

  • I just noticed something. Almost the WHOLE intro video has scenes from the 4 first books (out of 11) and praticly nowhere further. I guess they didn't want to spoil us :P

  • love this intro, possibly my favorite ever.

  • It's not sung in any particular language. It's simple chanting.

  • @Icekin23 It sounds like one of the dialecs in chinese, I think, though I'm not sure exactly. Could do some research on it as I'd like to find more of this kind of music anyways.

  • ANYONE KNOWS IN WICH LANGUAGE THIS INTRO IS SUNG???? o_O

AWESOME INTRO OF ALL TIME VIDEOGAMES!!!!

  • @blitzkrieg030 it's just an ancient chant but it sounds really nice

  • Comment removed

  • I haven't played any of these games except for the third one, and it's awesome. The intro had me hooked - truthfully I was hoping the atmosphere in the game would stick more to what they had shown in the intro movie, but it's a great game nonetheless. I rate it in those games that come close to Chrono Trigger truth be told.

  • Come close????????

Chrono Trigger is 3rd rate garbage! There is nothing that those money gobblers at Square that could get close to as Epic as the plot to Suikoden 3 or really any Suikoden. No Final Fantasy game will have characters as illuring as the superbly well written backgrounds and growth of the characters in Suikoden 3!

    WTF

  • @milkdj i agree with u i'm just eagerly awaitin 4 any news about suikoden 6

  • Anyone know if there's an anime for this?

  • No. Not that I know of.

  • theres a manga

  • does anyone know name of intro cant find it anywhere

  • the song is exceeding love or transcending love.

  • 1st was great, 2nd was truly awesome, 3rd was great too especially this intro but was a bit lacking, No.4 was horrible truly horrible, sadly i havent played 5 but from these comments at least it seems it isnt as bad as VI

  • I'm still looking for the manga that goes to this game.

  • There is a Suikoden 3 manga. I already bought it a long time ago.

  • Is the manga good? A very good friend of mine got them all, and I intend on borrowing them from her.

  • I just bough the first two manga. It's really awesome (and quite violent :P)

  • This is my favorite game intro of all times. IMO the game sucked but I was just happy to have it cuz of the intro lol, I would always watch it when starting the game up.

  • It did not suck it just needed to be revised and they should have spent more time one it. The jiu jitsu teaching were awesome addition to the games to come.

  • Best Video Game Intro EVER!

  • The only problem I really had with this game were the load times...

  • This is my third favorite rpg for the ps2. Shin Megami Tensei 3 and Shadow Heart 2 are at the top though. I loved the epic feel to this game...

  • looks like a miyazaki's movie

  • guys...where can i read the manga for suikoden III

  • I don't know any sites, but I'm sure Tokyopop may have some samples to look at.

  • Suikoden 3, awesome game, own it and the japanese collectors set.... Always loved the intro song and anima intro. Great Job!

  • did they ever made this game into anime if so i think it would be a hit and i would so buy it

  • Unfortunately, they did not. There is a "Suikoden anime", but it's almost nothing like the games at all, given that it is placed in the future. There is no anime based on the games, though I agree, if there was, it would be a great seller.

  • @Alsark They DID make a manga tho :)

  • @Alsark There is, however, a couple mangas based on the Suikoden games. I hear they're pretty good.

  • @Alsark I'm a little late to the party here but I know there is in fact a Suikoden 3 Manga however that I think was released by Tokyo Pop.

  • @jcard275 I know you asked this question over two years ago, but I don't care. As far as I know, there isn't a Suikoden III anime, but there was a manga. It's eleven or so volumes and it was published by Tokyopop.

  • @jcard275 no, and if they did im sure it would suck ass like all other animes. suikoden games are awesome but fuck anime

  • Suikoden III, the best Suikoden yet produced and my favorite game of all time. I can't wait for Suikoden VI as long as it doesn't suck like IV and V did.

  • Don't compare V with IV plz, IV was badddd

  • Yeah! Suikoden V is the third best y'know!

  • I will agree that V is nowhere near as bad as IV but it didn't give me a good pick-me-up after IV. I need a new one that lives up to III's legacy!

  • Agreed. IV was a HORRIBLE game. Not just horrible for a Suikoden game... but a HORRIBLE game. I bought Suikoden V and didn't even play it because I had a bad taste in my mouth from IV. I probably will play V eventually, though, when I recover from the horror that was Suikoden IV...

  • i cant agree with that, sure suiko IV isnt as good as others but if you are a real suiko fan you just cant hate it,

about suikoden V its almost as good as suiko 1 and 2, you are surely missing something if you dont play it ^^

  • being a true suikoden fan would mean not accpeting such a sucky ass game that VI was

  • not being as good as suikoden 2 doesnt mean its a sucky ass game

i still loved it, specially the tactics that goes with

  • @Alsark u should play 5 it's good nothin like 4

  • @Alsark i agree but 5 is good cuz the big battles r done like in the old games and unlike 4 the story doesn't revolve in 5 around just and hanful of youn kids but a larger group of people

  • @Alsark Please do, cause V is an amazing game, and my personal favorite in the series :)

  • @Alsark LOL LOL LOL, so true man, I played Suikoden III, what an awesome game in every way, but IV was such garbage that i left it half way, yeah what a piece of junk that was, no offense to the team who worked on it, but heck it sucked. Five was good too.

  • @classicalmix be glad you didn't Suikoden IV because (SPOILER ALERT like it matters) the final boss is a damn sea turtle wtf that's it and it's weak as hell I left that game with a blank look on my face like that's it... and the two main villians you never fight them once in the game that games the biggest fail in rpg history

  • @DW1014 i think nothing could be worse then the first saga frontier

  • @CrashBandikoot7 lol I like to imagine that game doesn't exist lol Pt2 was good tho I liked Gustav

  • @DW1014 haha i agree.. it was promising though, except it turned out to be truly unbalanced and just plain retarded. i loved part 2 as well, but it also showed signs of unbalancement right towards the end when ur suppose to fight that big ass egg.. well i was short on healing potions if i remember correctly, nd theres no way of going back to any shops once u enter that final area, so i was stuck in a jiffy. pretty much threw all my most powerful attacks i had at that egg before it would kill me

  • @CrashBandikoot7 had the same problem that's why I never ended it and had restarted a new game but didn't have the motivation to play all the way thru again so yeah I see what you mean

  • @DW1014 wow thats nuts that u had the same problem. shitty game. i also didnt have the motivation to replay the whole thing over.. must say i loved the water colors they used for the graphics. they need to make a similar game for the newer platforms

  • @SuperMondo u should play 5 it's nothin like 4 they returned 2 the basics in 5 so it's really good sory i won't give u any spoilers ontil u play it but it's good

  • @dualscioneer I did and beat it, loved 5

  • I loved Suikoden 3 despite some of the problems it had. I haven't played Suikoden 1 or 2 (but hope to some day), so I can't compare the character development to its predecessors, but I thought the story was well-written. And I don't think it was intended for the audience to care much about Wyatt dying; there is not a lot of interaction with him and he was not such a great father to Chris. The said can be said about Lulu; he was just a child and you did get to use him, but he dies so early on.

  • One of the reasons I don't like part 3 so much is because the character development is so poor that when...

    *SPOILER*

...Wyatt died, I didn't give a bloody hell. In my opinion, the best character development in this game was...

    *ANOTHER SPOILER*

During the sixth flame, Luc's story. Even that wasn't so great compared to Suikoden 2 and 5. OMG when Nanami died I cried wtf is that omg. I mean "died." And same with Lyon in part 5.

Suikoden 4 I will not even talk about. Nor Tactics.

  • Yeah, but the Manga kinda fixed that, didn't it?

  • Yeah, but we're talking about the games. The manga always fixes everything lol.

  • Haha.

  • I've never read any manga before, but if there is one for Suikoden 3, then I'll consider it. How much better is it than the game? And is there manga for all of the Suikodens and are they all worth it?

  • Well as far as I know the there is only one for Suikoden III. Not saying that there aren't ones for the others, but just not in America. And I really liked the Suikoden III manga, I think it came out really good and followed the story well.

  • Played all of them. Don't like Tactics. 1, 2, and 5 are the best. 3 was kinda experimental and it kinda worked and kinda didn't. 4 was, well, I dunno wthell the developers were thinking when they made it.

  • I never heard of the Suikoden series until I started reading the Manga.. Then I found out it was a game.

This intro is made up of so much epic win and cheese. <3 It makes me want to hunt the game down.

Just one question, though.. Do the characters from the Manga/Game appear in the other 3, or are they exclusive to Suikoden III?

  • Futch, Apple, and Luc were playable characters in 1, 2, and 3. Tuta was only in 2. While Jeane and Viki were in every Suikoden game to date (Suikoden 1-5 and Tactics), Nash appears in Suikogaiden (not so much a game as it is a visual novel) and is the main character. Beecham, Lily, Lucia, and Sasari appear in 2 as NPCs and Yuber is in the 1st and 2nd as an NPC. Also Edge's Star Dragon Sword was in the 1st and 2nd game. But if you only read the manga than you probably have never seen the sword.

  • Er messed up...meant so say Tuta was in 2 and 3.

  • Sadly I never played this Suikoden and those games are so rare! I played 1, 2 and 4. Never played tactics, 3 and 5. :'( My favourite, so far, is 2. This one has the best intro though!

  • Suikoden 2 is best one , i mean best rpg ever! Suikoden 3 is have good story but they changed the battle system but its good,

  • I remember picking up Suikoden 1 awhile ago and never being able to find 2. Then I read the manga for 3, which I JUST got around to buying it and I have to play it. I LOVE this intro though. Such a good intro and song.

  • Suikoden 2 is the best suikoden, it has perfect story and everything else :D but this intor is the best intro XD

  • I haven't played 1 and 2 (could'nt find them)

3 never came to my cuntry, the 4 is okay, and the 5 (whiche was my fisrt suikoden experince) was really good.

    i hope they make 6.

  • This song reminds me SOOO much of the opening song of the first Ghost in the Shell movie. Same kind of beautiful sad type song.

  • I was thinking the same thing. XD

  • i think this one has the best intro out of all the suikoden games

  • That intro is so epic, makes me want to go out and find the game.

  • I had always heard about this game series growing up and I go to the library and find the manga and i got hooked on the story...The game is hard to find thats for sure

  • They put out a manga from the Game and i recomended it. its really well done and if your not the gaming type its nice.

  • Amazing intro, the rest of the game not so great.

  • You don't know what you're talking about! I love Suikoden 3 more than I love 1 and 2!

  • idk y but i personally think this game was better than IV and V, im not sure about V, but idk the scenario in this one was good

  • Yeah, the general consensus about four amongst Suikoden fans (or at least, the ones I have talked to), was that Suikoden IV wasn't so great. I have Suikoden V, but haven't had the time to play it yet, so I'm not sure about that one.

I still like Suikoden 1 and 2 the best...

  • I seen suikoden 2 but it seem ok and kinda fun, 1 i havnt tried so im not sure, 3 i thought was da best, 4 sucked kinda, and 5 its alright..

  • @Alsark agreed... Suikoden I was a little lacking though, a bit too simple but fun, II in my opinion was the most balanced and well done. III was pretty good as well. We will not talk about IV..... and V was actually pretty interesting too, surprisingly.

  • the song is called exceeding love..

  • how do you know?

  • i downloaded it O.o

  • oooo.

  • Whats the name of this artist or song i wanna DL it

  • Ridiculously captivating intro.

  • wow i read the manga. it looks so cool animated

  • i didnt know

  • I recognize it because I had the game

  • I have been playing role playing games since the original Dragon Warrior for NES, and I cannot think of one that was more well-done than Suikoden III. My personal favorite of all time.

  • this game was way easy

  • suikoden 2 is best but this is best intro

  • I'm a fan of Suiko V. But suiko 3 has a really great intro and I think it's underrated, not a lot but it is underrated. Bad graphics hah reminds of blocky FF7 redux

  • i like 5 the most but tactics waz a failure 3 is pretty hard :P jus cant beat sarah i can almost kill her then the true water rune

  • victor, flik, pesmerga, etc etc still in S3?

  • suikoden 3 has the best intro but the graphics are crap

  • I have to agree.

But there was one mini-game I as partial to. It was the playhouse, and it was even better if you had ported Suikoden I to Suikoden II and then to Suikoden III. There were two extra play scripts you'd get if you managed to chain them.

  • I had a copy of this game, but I can't find it. :| The introduction, like many of you guys have said was brilliantly done.

  • Is this the same story as in the Suikoden game to playstation 1?

  • The 108 stars of destiny thing is still there, but no, the story is different.

  • I adore Suikoden 3 very much!
