  • The Allen electronic theater organs of the early 60's, like what Brad Swanson played, sound so amazing! This one you are playing in the video sounds great as well, but I imagine it is the digital? For folks who don't know, Allen invented the digital organ way back in 71' and their first digital organ ( a church organ) is in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C.

Can you name a few models #'s of the earlier transistorized Allen theater organs and direct me to any posts of players on youtube?

  • @paulj0557 Yes, this one is digital.

There are many Allen models. Just search on "Allen Organ" and you will see videos of amny models.

  • @paulj0557 This was Allen Organ's first digital Theatre Organ. The GW-319 followed.

  • I saw a 3/24 Allen here in St. Louis. The price tag is $150,000.00. Now if you all will excuse me, I am going to sit in the corner and pout (sniff).

  • Loved it, loved it, loved it . . . is that a GW4? Did you paint it white? It looks gorgeous.

  • Boy, that is just like a true Wurlitzer! Hard to tell the difference! COOL!!!

  • Great performance! Enjoyed listening! Nice organ even if it is a digital!

  • WOW I want one.

  • Yea Bea did sing this on The Golden Girls---you're right!

  • Wait-- is this an Allen electronic organ?

  • Yes

  • Bea Arthur Sang this song.

  • 'tis true.

  • Allen has really gotten it right! Excellent arrangement very well played. What sort of room is this organ? The acoustics are superb, or is that Allen's magic, too?

  • It is in a very large music room specifcally built for the purpose. And the organ has been adjusted ("voiced") to match the acoustics of the space.

  • Good job! One of the prettiest songs Irving Berlin ever wrote.

  • EXQUISITE!!!

  • I stand corrected = This is a fine example of a well regulated, tremulated Allen with superb tonal qualities. It is the only Allen organ I have heard that sounds like a theatre pipe organ.!!!!

  • If i were to email joyce, would she be able to send me a pdf of this song?

  • You can certainly try that.

  • I am confused!!! The organ being played is NOT an Allen GW4 but a WurliTzer.

    Please comment.

  • Yes, this is an Allen GW4. It is not a WurliTzer.

  • Great job playing and registration.

GW knew what he was doing when he worked with Allen on that organ's specifications and voicing.

  • portapottty wow what an organ, how lucky you are to own it, do you let people come and see it?

    that is funny. lol cheers!

  • ahhh very nice!

  • Even though you don't own this organ.....when you play it -- you "own" it, for sure! Absolutely brilliant playing and arranging!!!

  • Thank you. But the arrangement is by Joyce Clifford, my teacher. She is a brilliant TO arranger.

  • Yes, she definitely is!

  • does she give lessons to anyone? Where is she located? I would love to have her teach me the theatre organ world! Sure is different music from my bach!

  • wow what an organ, how lucky you are to own it, do you let people come and see it?

  • The organ belongs to my teacher. I wish I owned it! :)

  • OH!!! I WANT THAT ORGAN!! hOW MUCH WAS IT??? iS THERE ANY USED ONES FOR SALE????

  • Wait a few years from now, there should be quite a few of them for sale as the older owners die off.

  • Great arrangement...great playing!!! I really liked your stop choices, and your use of some glissandos!!! More please!!!

  • Very nice, and please post more of you on this wonderful organ!
