this is ABC's pathetic attempt to hold on to those revenues coming in from the advertising for the food companies unwilling to change the way they process food!
wow, this was a highly unprofessional report. The reporter says "...shame that they taste so good," i would say "shame on abc for producing such a report." I heard this guy talk on radio where they allowed him to explain... first that there are different kinds of sugar, and second how the food processing has encouraged the use of one type of sugar... if you watched this "interview" and thought you gained any insight as to what this guy is proposing YOU ARE MISTAKEN!!!
Hahaha, I love how the reporter says that the cardiologist gets his funding from the corn refiners association. It's like a disclaimer saying "this guy is probably lying"
Ugh this was such a waste of 8 minutes. Both sides are presented two dimensionally, and it's so boiled down that there's no content in this whatsoever.
Audrea's argument sucks... Not only is she employed buy 'The Corn Refiners Ass' her argument about natural substances from mother nature gave = OK as food, is utter BS. Look up the verities of poisonous plants and fruits and things start to look different... refining food doesn't improve it most of the time...
The corn refiners lady is a moron...Mother nature didnt give us all the products she's selling which is the point that Dr. Lustig is making. She mentioned all the good stuff that she DOESN'T sell....Veggies, fruit. He's not talking about natural sources of sugar as the problem...Its the evil retarded food that she sells thats the problem.
@howzaou812 "She mentioned all the good stuff that she DOESN'T sell....Veggies, fruit. He's not talking about natural sources of sugar as the problem"
Most modern veggies and fruit, especially the very sugary kinds, didn't exist until recently. That's because they aren't natural. Humans created them. Apples, bananas, and peaches really do cause heart disease and cancer (and diabetes, and dementia, and obesity, etc.).
I'd say ABC are convinced, but worried about their sponsors, so you got the standard PR from the usual vague, glib talking heads; including a man who must be an authority because he is a heart doctor and he does research...plus he's a silver haired WASP who smiles as he fails to answer any specific points.
Expect 20 or 30 years, 50+ if the PR works, before any progress is made. Money versus medicine is a no-brainer, even before you look at the medical world's historical pace of change.

It's well known that a diet of raw fruits and vegetables promotes the most rapid weight loss of any diet ever known. If fresh juice makes you fat then explain why juice fasting works!
I don't need to give you a citation. I don't get my information from a single source. Look it up yourself. Fresh juice is full of macro nutrient food and actually cleans your body of toxins. You can live on juice for extended periods of time. Stay away from processed foods.
@hiddenistruth yes you do need to give a citation. That's how science works. You back up your assertions with evidence. And juice isn't considered a processed food? Not on this planet.

@hiddenistruth they kind of cut this very interestingly. Lustig has said many times that fruit (and obviously vegetables) are fine for you because the fructose is delivered with fiber from the fruit. He goes into this metabolism in detail in other videos but it is a thing to point out that he's not anti-fruit by any means, if he was i would have ignored this guy immediately.
Just an awful segment. The opposition in this video are all from sugar-related industries, of course the sugar industry will always point the blame elsewhere. It's like asking Steve Jobs if he thinks Windows 7 is a good operating system. The answer will most likely... surprise no one.
Great stuff Dr. Lustig! It looks as though ABC is slighted against this guy. This guy is right and its as if ABC doesn't want to believe it. ABC is prob gettin paid by others organizations to keep a biased approach on this. Dr. Lustig has struck a cord that is making everyone uncomfortable. GOOD STUFF!
nice hit peace on good Dr Lustig, so they don't talk about how alcohol acts on the liver like high fructose does, they don't show how many products have more sugar in them then needed. lol unreal, love how they get the pro corn people on to say they are right and Dr Lustig is just an other diet fad guru lol very nice good job ABC... lol
Has Dr. Lustig become the New Dr. Atkins? Not that he's a proponent of Low Carb, but for speaking out against something that is harmful to human health? How many years is it going to take people to see we are being fed prefab food designed to keep us addicted and sick, leading us to seek medical help in the form of pills that do the same thing. Take a pill, so you can eat a cookie without your blood sugar skyrocketing. Big pharma wins, the food industry wins. We...LOSE.
I agree. Fructose is a poison. I low that he knows about metabolic syndrome. I want him to be my doctor. Incredible that he doesn't even seem to like fruits even. I agree that we should have age limits on fructose.
I think the point is that sugar and for example high-fructose corn syrup is not food, it's a highly addictive white powder/chemical that causes severe health problems. It should be illegal with high-fructose corn syrup.

I'm a fructose malabsorber, and I am so thankful I was told not to ingest fructose any longer. I have never felt better in my life.

@fructmals You look at his lecture "The Bitter Truth" and it's hard not to think we are all fructose malabsorbers !

I have had gout for years, and tried just about everything without success.I reduced meat to, minimum once
a week, stopped alcohol altogether.I was having LOTS of fruit and vegetables and my gout was worsening.
Finally I have read something about Excessive fructose increasing uric acid.I experimented reducing my fruit
intake to 2 a day, and bingo within days I saw a dramatic improvement
