No, you are mistaken... it works perfectly in itunes (even after the latent iPhone update). Other folks have posted instructions on how to do it (go look at engadget, last week) the hint is restoring Services.plist, which corrects the itunes mountpoint problem.

Call me inpatient, but I'd rather not wait and not have to pay for the ringtone privilege.
