  • My father was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in February of 2006. March of 2006, less than a month later, he died. He smoked two packs a day, started smoking at 12 years old.

I see stupid kids desiring to smoke, trying to buy cigarettes underage, and think how stupid these kids are. By smoking they show they don't care for people close to them. Cancer doesn't just affect the individual, it affects everyone close them.

  • It's not just cigarettes becasue healthy people who don't smoke are getting Cancer, Why is it in Canada their is 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 woman who will be diagnosed with Cancer in your life.

Yes don't smoke but know they are spending billions to catch it after you get it becasue preventive is obviously not working. We need a Cure..

  • Lung cancer is awful because by the time you see the signs, it is usually too late to do anything but prolong your life a little bit. At least with most kind of cancers, they are treatable because you can detect them early. It is very difficult to diagnose lung cancer early.

  • We know that smokeing isnèt the only thing causeing cancer. Because yes it is a cause, but it's not the only thing that causes it. My Grandfather never smooked a cigarette in his life, but he died of cancer.

  • NO, I'm sorry TheT4xid3rmist, you are wrong on that point. Smokers care VERY MUCH what they are doing to themselves and others. It's a trap that they are lured into. They don't realise they are trapped untill it's too late. It's VERY difficult to get out of that trap. Against all odds Susan quit while she was in her 20's and still paid the ultimate price. We can start blaming smokers when there is no nicotine in cigarettes, no advertising, no smoking by stars or in the movies.

  • I'm talking about kids in their young teens or even younger smoking. If they cared at all about themselves they would never start in the first place. Most people who start smoking, start smoking when they are underage, because they are stupid naive kids who just don't know any better.

  • I had to watch this for a college assignment!

    Verry touching

  • I have to say i dont know what your going through because i havent gone through it but your an insperation. i cant tell you how sorry i am for you and your family. your family is in my prayers and always will be.

  • I'm so sorry for you and your family for suffering the loss of your Mom. The love you share is palpable.

  • flubbberbobb, i highly suggest you reform your comment because that was extremely rude. I hope you believe in a higher power or intelligent designer because if you are that self responsive then obviously you got some issues bro

  • I understand what you are going through. My Mom was diagnosed with a rare cancer that has no cure. It shuts down ur heart, lungs, and kidneys. It has already shut down her kidneys and its affecting her heart. She has to learn to walk again. I know that things may seem hard but you just got to keep the faith

  • i know what you are going through, my dad died

  • I think no one should smoke i smoked and i got lung cancer and im 12 years old i am so scared i just found out

  • My dad past away bout a month ago cause of lung cancer..he had it 4 5 months...we all miss him like heaps...just member all the good times u shared

  • My prayers are with you and yours.

  • I am so sorry for your mom. I know what both of you are going through because my brother-in-law has terminal lung cancer. And it is not easy seeing a love one suffer from a devastating disease. But I just want to let you know that you are not alone and that I am praying for your mom and family. Thanks for sharing!!

  • how much did your mum smoke ? im so sorry you have all had to go through such a horrible horrible time . my love goes out to you xx

  • year before last my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer october 9th 2006 on july 23rd 2007 seven she was pronounced cancer free. On Agust 15th of this year she went in for her one year cancer free MRI, She was diagnosed with liver and lung cancer. She has ten kids who love her very much nine of whom are adopted including me. We have lost so much in our lives we have arlready seen her go through Chemo and radiation. Its gonna be harder this time. Tankz for shareing your story.

  • hi i"m a volunteer at the american lung association and I was wondering if you would post your story on one of our web pages. its thelungchallenge. com

    Thank you sooo much

  • There's ONLY one cancer and it is a metabolic disease that is prevented and cured with Amygdalin {Vitamin B17} found in 1,400 seeds & grasses. Submit to chemo- & radio-therapies and die. See the film on You-Tube: "A World Without Cancer."

  • this shit makin me sad i cant watch no more

  • because ciggaretes arent as bad as drugs lung cancer is horrible but it doesnt happen a ton at least im not sure it does my dads been smoking for 32 years : /

  • Cigarettes ARE drugs. They define drug addiction and the torment people go through to break the drug addiction. Lung cancer kills 4X as many more people than breast cancer. It's the No. 1 cancer killer. Gently ask your father to get a lung & heart scan.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am a Mother, and after seeing the hurt in these children I am quitting tomorrow! Blessings to your family.

  • thats so touching

  • funny how governments will not out law smoking!!!! But will outlaw marijuana!!! tax is on cigarettes!!! but not outlawed!!! thanks world banks and oil companies, you are the true controlers behind our governments. money is your god!

  • Can you explain how oil companies and world banks affect this video? Thank you.

  • Thank you so much for your video. It is very touching. I hope you will consider posting your video at our new website at thelungchallenge . com

We're trying to start a new outlet for people woth lung disease in the hopes of educating others. egray @ lungfla. org orlando, FL

hmm.....a herb in east asia but they wont give me the name of it ..

there is also burning salt water to kill luncer cancer ...will i know people wont believe me so tats all

  • actually i heard that cancer is a fungi and salt can kill it from this guy on youtube he was like a doctor or something

  • I LEARNED TOO LATE...

  • gcode420:

What a ridiculous comment. Ignoring the obvious is also ridiculous.

  • are you sick, ciggarates is very very toxic

  • this is exactly what happened to my grandmother...to see your mother and your father ...the ones you thought where the strongest people in your life...cry... is very hard to watch...

  • These children are a tribute to their mother. An example of who we are called to be. Since this video was shot thier mother passed away, no more suffering for her, now she can rest. I know the pain continues for this family, I will pray the the peace of the Lord embrace them and eventually allow them to find comfort in realizing the legacy their mother left with them... Each other.

  • My Mom died of pancreatic cancer, and my Dad has mesothelioma. He is doing awesome! Please read my story at mymonavie dot com forward slash tonyg

  • My dad had his lung removed 2 months ago he starts radiotherpy next week. i like how this video explains the familys feelings walking into a high dependancy unit watching your 47 year old father lying on a bed hooked upto as many monitors screaming for you to take the pain away is not what i would wish on any 21 year old but its what i had to go through but im not angry at my dad that he smoked he took a risk a one that millions of people take everyday.

  • cigs are gross and wrong, and as my mom says, there a drug, if its addictive, its a drug, her dad passed away at the age between 35-40 when she was 11, she is still different today

you guys will be in my prayers also

im very sorry for the death

  • Susan DeWitt passed away the first week of October 2007. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I'm so very sorry...

  • I saw them on the Montel Williams Show today and was inspired to watch this video. My husband died in 1985 at age 42 after a 18 month battle with lung cancer. My children (age 18, 16 and 12) at the time saw the horrific results of smoking. Please, please think twice about picking up that cigarette. Lung cancer is a horrible disease and condems the patient to a welcome death. If anything good came out of this experience, it was that I stopped smoking the day he was diagnosed.

  • very sad to hear

  • I have a question. I too started smoking at 14, but didn't do it too often. When I turned 18, I smoked every day..a pack every 2 days or so. Then 2 years later, maybe less, I quit for good. Then 2 years after that I had a cigarrette when I was in a bar and now only smoke when I drink and or at bars. I don't do it very often, like maybe once or twice in the month. What are my chances of developing any sort of side effects? Anyone know?

  • There's no telling. What we do know is that your chances for heart disease, stroke and cancer increase with every puff of smoke you take, whether from your cigarette or the smoke from others. 38,000 Americans die every year JUST from second hand smoke. There is no safe exposure to cigarette smoke.

  • I appreciate the info, but 38,000 out of 300.000.000 isn't a big a number as people would like to make it out to be. It's kind of like a big chance of getting lung cancer from2nd hand smoke. I mean we can die at any moment for any reason.

  • Fill in the blank "We can die at any moment for any reason. So, it's O.K to _____. There's a better argument for life than "it just doesn't matter because..." 440K die from cigarette smoke related illness. Add 8.6 mil Americans afflicted with a cig smoke related illness. The National Institute of Health says, "As many as 6.4 mil children who are living today will die prematurely because they began to smoke during adolescence." No matter what the stats, the only one that matters is you.

  • Actually, it's more like 38,000 out of 21,000,000 (18%) because not all 300,000,000 people in America are smokers. According to the American Heart Association, only approx 21,000,000 American women are smokers.

  • So it's only women that's part of that figure...if we included men, the percentage of lung cancer deaths are even smaller? Thanks for the info.

  • It seems that there's a stat to fit every argument. The woman in the video started smoking at 15. She just turned 43. In the 28 years since her first puff, Americans have suffered 241 mil major smoke related illnesses (accordind to the Centers for Disease Control with 8.6 mil per year). There are current studies being done that weigh the effect of second hand smoke on children. When these studies prove out, the number of signicant illnesses due to cig smoke in those 28 years exceeds 400 million.

  • So I am a mother of two beautiful girls ages 6 and 4...I have been smoking since I was 14...I am now 28...I wat to quit but Don't have any idea on where to start.....Can someone please help me?

  • Google chantix.

Get your doctor to prescribe it. When you think you can't stick with it, look into the smiles on your girls faces. You'll want to see those for the next 40 years.

  • Thank you!

  • Chantix! Ask your doctor or just order it online. I did and I've been quit now for 3 weeks! You're young. Please quit!

  • try whyquit dot com

  • What I meant was it beated regularly and then "boom" a hard beat. I don't feel it nomore now that Im smokefree.

  • I used to smoke about a pack a day for the past 10 yrs. I quit for 2 months now and I feel great. The reason I quit was because my heart started beating weird and it felt like a muscle flexing by itself.

  • Hi, please check out the anti-smoking test commercial on my profile that I directed and tell me what you think.

  • damn i almost wanna stop smoking now

  • she died so young, i just hope people out there quit smoking after seeing this video. i am 18 and i will NEVER smoke. thanks for the video, it must have been heart breaking, i don't know what it feels like to lose a mother like you guys did. i will never smoke i promise.

  • I know that the ending may be a little misleading, but the mother is still alive and still battling today!

  • @chork52 fail

  • i feel so saddddddddddddddddddddd

  • Man... this last summer, one of my best friends was diagnosed with lung cancer. It's awful, just devestating... and he never smoked a day in his life. I've never smoked, or like people smoking, but even more so now. Why do things to yourself that could bring about such a fate?

Thank you for sharing, it's a message that needs to get out.

  • Thank You for sharing! I've been trying to get my wife to quit since before we got married. Maybe your vid will help.
