For those who say that pageants are like a sport, I disagree. When you play soccer or do gymnastics, you show the physical prowess you are capable off. In pageants children go on stage and blow kisses, shake their booties and flirt with adults; it shows girls that beauty is one of the only ways to get your way in life and to obtain it, you have to change yourself.

I mean, forcing a child to do football is worse- they could actually get like seriously injured which will of course affect them outside the field. But a lot of pageant girls actually have a real tomboyish side so obviously it doesn't make any difference.
At least it seems like the girls in this one actually want to compete. In some of these the girls are screaming and crying because they don't want to. I personally find it much harder to watch the ones where the moms are forcing them to compete. And yes I realize that when they are babies they don't have a choice and are being forced to, but I mean when they are older.
That said, some of these girls throwing tantrums would have been spoiled and concieted with or without the help of pageants.

Not sure. My guess is the moms were big nothings and are now trying to live their lives through the child and have them be someting they weren't. Because of genes, these little girls will grow up to become fat trainwrecks like their mommies.
Make up and tricks make women feel ugly, they make them feel like they *need* extra-stuff to be beautiful, and it deceives men (stars caked up in make up, photoshopped, who appear as goddesses to us while they have flaws like us!). But on little girls, it's completely wrong, those moms make their daughters feel like they need all these extra-stuff to be loved, to be interesting, while a mother's love should be unconditional! I trully think they don't love their kids and they live through them.

ok here's the deal...maybe all these little girls feel bad for US because we don't get to do these pageants...most of you think the other way around...it's a matter of opinion. Some of these moms are probably not doing this to live through their children...in fact most of them arent. They are doing this becaus this is what they think is best for their child. Your mom think playing a sport is good for you. Please don't insult the girls or their moms. Keep ur opinion to yourself. (thumbs up)

... How is this child abuse? I mean, when the kids enjoy it and are doing it for the right reasons, there's not really anything wrong with it. It's not like it carries into their real life, the kids know that all the hair and makeup is pageant stuff and it's not appropriate off stage. It's a hobby- they say they want to do it forever but they won't they'll outgrow it and it won't affect their life at all. It's pushy parents that are the real problem not pageants...

@Haruchan1996 Yes, I also know about Michaela Pettit and Kathleen Flynn and Shauna Howe, children who were murdered for no reason, which is more likely the case than pageant children. How many pageant kids have had bad things happen to them? 1. How many normal children have had bad things happen to them? Countless. I don't know if you totally shrugged off what I just said about pageant stuff staying at the pageant, but it's true, if it does change who they are it's the parents fault not pageants

@Haruchan1996 I'm not saying pageants are heaven sent- I'm just saying it's not exactly the worst thing in the world. I mean, forcing a child to do football is worse- they could actually get like seriously injured which will of course affect them outside the field. But a lot of pageant girls actually have a real tomboyish side so obviously it doesn't make any difference.

At least it seems like the girls in this one actually want to compete. In some of these the girls are screaming and crying because they don't want to. I personally find it much harder to watch the ones where the moms are forcing them to compete. And yes I realize that when they are babies they don't have a choice and are being forced to, but I mean when they are older.
That said, some of these girls throwing tantrums would have been spoiled and concieted with or without the help of pageants.

Not sure. My guess is the moms were big nothings and are now trying to live their lives through the child and have them be someting they weren't. Because of genes, these little girls will grow up to become fat trainwrecks like their mommies.

Make up and tricks make women feel ugly, they make them feel like they *need* extra-stuff to be beautiful, and it deceives men (stars caked up in make up, photoshopped, who appear as goddesses to us while they have flaws like us!). But on little girls, it's completely wrong, those moms make their daughters feel like they need all these extra-stuff to be loved, to be interesting, while a mother's love should be unconditional! I trully think they don't love their kids and they live through them.

They're little girls, they ARE beautiful the way they are. It sickens me to see mothers make their daughters feel like they aren't pretty or that they need to be improved. These girls are going to feel like they need makeup and fake products to be beautiful. They'll value appearance over what's important. Also the tanning makes me sick, skin of all color is beautiful even if "pasty white." Especially when they're so young, their skin is fine. UGH, failure parents

@Kyreneth amen! I agree 100% on what you just said, when the mom said to her daughter "Stuff to make you beautiful" I almost died... her daughter is beautiful just the way she is, I don't think her daugther should feel only pretty when having all of that fake stuff on... :-(
