@ForTheClarkFans Sis. Nelson was never the Minister of Music, she has worked extensively in the department since the time of Dr. Clark. And, I believe the nickname "Songbird" was given to her a while back. At Dr. Clark's funeral Former Presiding Bishop Owens introduced her as that. I doubt it was a slight at the Clark Sisters, and Kim Burrell is somewhat "newer" into the Music Department.
@whatuwatchingjoe i dont think the clark sisters and kim are new in the national choir, i they always worked in the background, cuz i remember when kim was teaching at aim back in 94. And Bishop Owens didnt say she was the songbird of the church of god in christ, he said that she was t he Work Horse of the Church of God in Christ.
Actually Bettye's unofficial title back in the day in the COGIC was 'Songbird of the COGIC' back in the late 70's and 80's so it's been that way for a while, Judy was just respecting the other great singer's that where present!!
Here's my thing... if you listen to the begining of this video, you will realize there is a spirit of praise in the room. J. McCallister Kills it to follow the program. Now I know Sis. Nelson, would have gone on and had some church, however; as she should. She followed leadership. The leader should have let the people have church!!! What Y'all think? The saints could have went in on this song.... But they jerked the spirit!!!!!!
you are right the spirit was moving, people were able to praise God and we def. had church before and after this song. there comes a time when the program has to move forward.
@jeps2665 i dont agree, because in the video before this one the song lasted over ten minutes and we did have a praise break. however, if judith was to move on what people thought and kept the song going, that Donnie McCluklin had just finished, then Judith would have been out of order, because she doesnt have the authority to make those kind of decisions.
