  • When there is enough light, this camera shines. You found good angles too. The last scene from the ocean feels as if it was taken from one of those big-budget documentaries shown on TV. Good job.

  • Sorry to say but the final result is heavily compressed and lacks clarity. What a shame to have gone to Africa and come back with poor footage.

Of course the actual footage may be good and the compression used in editing could be the culprit?

  • imovie 09

  • Is the video choppy, or is it just my computer? I'm on 480p.

  • you have some of the best footage up here but you still chose to upload in 720p, half HD!?! I wish it was 1080P ;-)

  • This is a very good test, I have the same camcorder but I do not get good quality when I pull down from the original .MTS file, could you please tell me wich format or edition software or setting are you using for get this quality? thanks in advance.

  • hey man great test I have the same camera.

how do you convert the file format from .MTS to another format that you can work with in video editing program? I realy have to know, thanks.

  • did you work out how to use the camera gd at night, because i have the hs9 and like yours daytime is amazing however night mode is really bad

  • These images are beautiful. This is a terrific camera during daylight conditions.

  • i got the same camera as you have and i got a question to you:

i rendered my latest two videos in mp4 HD for youtube... when you take a look at these, do you think i rendered the videos right?

please answer, would be awesome :)

    thanks

  • Hi, which videos are you asking about?

  • What do you do with the footage to prep it for youtube?

I have an hdc-sd9 myself, but when I first uploaded a raw 1080 avchd straight from the camera it didn't turn out too well.

Then I used superC to convert it to a 720x avi file and uploaded that, but it's come out really crap. You can see the result of that one on my youtube page. (Plane taking off, the most recent video, titled as a test video)

  • Hi, I cant remember what I did to this one to prep it. Sorry. It seems hit or miss whether they will actually load up. I THINK you need to put them as .264.

  • I want this camera !

  • When its day vs. dark it looks like two different cameras

  • Great video helped me decide to get this camera too, cheers

  • Thanx for your comments vvvmtlvvv it was awesome. I love Africa. I m off there again soon and I ll put some more footage up.

  • I got one too and I love it. Was a bit of a pain to edit the AVCHD format on my (recently upgraded) PC. Then I got the latest MacBook with iMovie09 and importing and working with AVCHD is a breeze. Only gripe is that you have to use external power when transferring clips via USB straight from the cam. Still, a great little HD-Cam!

  • why don't you use a card reader?

  • Good question. Never tried it actually, I have an SDHC reader lying around and I will give it a go on next import.

    Cheers.

  • Looks like an awesome trip. Thanks for sharing the footage...you've made me decide which camcorder to get.

  • Thnx for yor comments!

  • Thnx for this footage

  • Amazing as usual.

Such a good camera for the price.
