@timothycayem Yeah. So what I did wrong was not buy the optical cable. But if you want to save a few bob you can buy a cheaper one in any electrical store, although the brand one is nicer. To imitate this set up, what you want is the: Astro A40 Headset, Astro Mix Amp, TOSlink optical cable and as an optional extra, the rechargeable battery pack for the Mix amp. It just allows you to not use the mini-USB cable while the Audio system is in use. It's just one less cable. That's all.

@itzlex512 if you dont have the xbox slim then it will be on the av connector. you know that little black plugin on the same place you can switch between the hdtv and tv settings. if you have a slim it will be below the av and hdmi ports

@95561 i saw your comment about the astros you will want to take the original componet cables u know the red white and yellow cables take off the shell then plug the unshell componet into your xbox next to the hdmi port u then use an optical cable and plug one end into the componet cable back and 1 into ur xbox... if you need any more help just email me at no5springer@yahoo.com

@viper19861986 using the optical cable as well as the RCA cable will not stop the TV from creating sound. However, you can just mute the TV and the sound will still be going through the headset. You control the volume through the mixamp.

@TheBlackOpsProject You have the buy the Xbox 360 branded hdmi cable. When you buy that it comes with an adapter that goes into the standard av port. It has a toslink port and left and right ports. That allows you to use the HDMI port for your video to your tv and then the adapter supplies audio to the mix amp.

The only thing i like about the turtle beach is the wireless. But since i got wireless on my xbox the signal messes with the headset. So since th astro's are wireless then i don't get any interference and the wires are long enough. Plus they look badass whats better than that..

@EpicCanadianMontages You have to purchase an optical AV adaptor, they are made by Microsoft. Search for xbox optical AV adaptor on ebay and you should be able to find one easily. It will allow you use HDMI and the optical out for the headset.
