the only reason u guys r saying that everything randy did was fake n he only did it cuz he was taking steriods is cuzu wish that u could have accomplished wht he did
im not saying randy didnt throw this but it is easy to say you pr' ed by 4 feet when all you see is the spin i mean i throw 75 meters in the discus in practice if you only look at my spin
@gonzo52maples I was at a recent district meet for 8th grade and under. The furthest throw was 34'11" so, yeah, that's about 3rd place (at that last meet anyway). I'm in 8th grade and my highest is 33'11"
Not at all, with some technique variation I boosted my bench from 305 to 381 in 9 weeks, supplement free. It's not hard you just have to go about it right. I weigh 210 & am still in high school. If you pay special attention to the right (back) foot, you'll notice on his farther throws he actually lands about 3-4in to the right of a dead center line. This allows for greater hip thrust as well as chest/arm extension. Weather by accident or design, he truly created the best shot put technique ever.
it's easy to see how he increased his distance with the shot throughout time... he was afraid to go over the tow board when he was younger but if you actually pay attention to the video and are a thrower you can see he actually has a lot more extension in his throw and his chest/shoulders go over the tow board as time goes by so steroids probably did help but improving his technique helped the most.
You need strong legs, a strong back, strong shoulders, strong chest, strong arm -- and you need to bee explosive. And then you need technique. There is no single thing that can get you there.
You need strong legs, a strong back, strong shoulders, strong chest, strong arm -- and you need to explosive. And then you need technique. There is no single thing that can get you there.
Why is everyone saying "this is better than that" and bla bla bla?
Barnes squatted 600, benched 500 and cleaned 310. All for reps, he also did triceps extensions overhead with 200lbs (90kg).
You think that he would have done the other three if only one exercise mattererd? The shot is driven by every pushing muscle your body can damn recruit, not just the quads - not just the triceps.
@Bulldog76center I dont know about that. christian cantwell benches 635 and only squats 650...in other words his bench is about the weight of the shot away from his squat.
@zachary2327 shot put is not mostly triceps and shoulder muscles, not even mostly upper body. shot put is mostly lower body actually, because its your legs and hips that start the acceleration through and up to your upper body to get the shot to go farther. the upper body is important, but its definitely not everything
@zachary2327 odd kid, I'm in 10th and I know for a fact that without the hips starting off the extension of my shoudlers my standing throw wouldn't be 9.80 with a 5kg shot. I also know that without strong shoulders, my hip drive would be going to waste. You need both.
bench matters sooo much less then squat in throwing its stupid. Now if you where to say incline bench and squat where on par id still be a bit skeptical but id agree there close. Incline is the money upper body life.
Indeed it does. About 90% of your power in a shot put throw comes from the legs. Makes sense since your legs are normally the strongest muscles in the body.
HAHAHAHAHA it makes me laugh all of you 30-40 year old guys coming onto this video bragging you benched "so much" in highschool. hahahaahahaahahahahaaha
all pro were unbelievably gifted before they begin everything, like having 20 inch gun, squatting 500 the first time or bring 242 lbs bdw at 5% of bodyfat....etc etc.
It's bullshit, the true it's they're all on roids and to hide thsi fact they argue about there unbelieable gift...
@railroader78... i don't believe steroids were the case. Look at his technique on the 61ft throw, his spin was terrible. His form was improved drastically was once he was throwing the 16lb.

@agentbobbarker i can throw the 12 45 and the 16 42 its not that much different and its not that much harder to throw the 16 over the 12 its just that you need better form
@railroader78 I imagine he probably played Football through High School, essentially cutting in half the amount of time he could train for Shot Put. He also probably benefitted greatly from being in a better program when moving from High School to College (Better Coaches, better training, etc). So you have all that AND Randy has tested positive for banned substances several times.

@sniper6636 What are you talking about? Increasing a weak bench by 50lbs is a lot easier than switching to a heavier shot and throwing 8ft more.

sniper6636 9 months ago
@sniper6636 We're talking about lbs, right? Lets use some math.
12/16= 3/4
3/4-1= 1/4.
So your distance should be 1/4 less.
So your 45 should be around a 32'6" with a 16, but since there are minor factors also applied, lets just make it 1/6 less.
37'5 feet.
So, I do not believe you. Unless you threw the 12 your senior year in highschool and the 16 in college.
