@pianofingers007 gladly. in a gun, a striker pin hits the mercury primer. the reaction is a discharge of energy hundereds of times that of the exitation energy. this energy results in sufficient force to plant a bullet in someone's head form a kilometer away. that is because a chain reaction released the energy already evident in the gun powder. that is just what is happening here. we have found that we can release energy already present in the exitation state of an atom.
