@ThorgalsWalhalla It will if it increases the damage of the weapon. If the weapon scales with Dex to any degree it will. A BS or Riposte is simply a damage calculation, taking your AR (attack rating, or the damage shown in your character window,) and multiplying it, as well as by-passing a predetermined amount of armor/resistance. Rapier-class weapons, and/or weapons with critical modifiers also increase this damage, as well as Hornets ring or any other damage buff.
Can anyone confirm if this would increase the casting speed of weapon buffs like Crystal Magic Weapon or anything like that? Sitting pretty at 40 Dex so far and wondering if I should go that extra mile to make it worth my while.
@AllMyFriendsAreGay It does not decrease the cast time of any spell which is not offensive, or does not have a direct "casting" animation to shorten. Tested at values 9 and 45 of Dex personally shortly after this video came out.
@timecrashzero It's best to stop at 45. There is a subtle difference in this entire scale, so neglecting another subtle difference will only help to lessen the effect. Going 45 Dex is great if you already planned to go 40 and have the points to spare and a practical reason to use it, but I wouldn't do it unless you're making at least one other use out of the Dex. The Int/Fai damage buffs go nicely with Dex anyway, mixing them with offensive spells or Pyros works wonders for PVP.
@TobiasMakesNoise For some reason, YouTube won't let me link the video, but search "dexterity and casting time reduction", exactly like that. First video.
@sansviedotcom Time will certainly tell. It could be that some spells like great combustion can be roll backstab punished without 40 dex but with 40 they can't. Probably not, but it's a possibility.
does Dex alsow increase the damage of backstab and parries ?

You didn't do one between like 10 and 45 dex. That's the difference that decides whether it's actually worth putting points into.

Do you have any data in regards to swings larger weapons faster with the strength stat? I starting to build up more on my strength just to see.

What sword was being used at the end ?

Thanks for making this. Great illustration.

There was a rumor that strength affected weapon swing speed. Maybe it's true since Dex affects casting. Could you test please? :)
Great work on this video, btw, much appreciated.

@assfault88 nope completely untrue.

That's actually very helpful. I'd have made my Pyro Dex based had I known this sooner ><

Now this is good to know, thank you for doing this.

The difference is so negligible, it's not worth wasting souls/levels on.
cheeksjd 3 months ago
@cheeksjd Definitely not negligible for PvP.
assfault88 3 months ago
i think its affects the weapon speed as well

adding.. stats hmm..

Does strenth affect swing speed?

No.

Interesting but yeah not sure the double digit dex increase is worth these sub-second casting differences.

Do you think this is truly useful? Having hard time figuring out if that small of a difference matters.
Then again, might not be a reason to force build a character with high dex but it should help out those that plan to have high dex anyway.
Interesting find. Perhaps the other attributes have hidden effects as well? Does strength affect casting strength (even if minimally)?

spikybry 4 months ago
are you sure it affects sorceries and miracles?
spikybry 4 months ago
@spikybry Yes, confirmed. All attacking spells become faster by higher dex.
PeachPurin 4 months ago
@spikybry only the offensive miracles that take time to cast i think, like emit force or great lightning spear.
brainwasher9876 2 months ago
Does dex affect anything else? Like running speed?
TKDdans 4 months ago
@TKDdans as far as I know, no motion gets faster.

very nice. didn't know that
