  • Im English but must admit .... only the Scots know how to play the pipes & drums

  • I was there,, in 2007 and 2008.. and i miss it...

  • is there a video of this without the narrator? i want to rip the audio but not with the narration.

  • scotland till i die amazing if your scottish you love this england could not beat us proud to be scottish and a true man not like england

  • is it just me, but does the Highland snare drum have a different sound to a conventional snare drum?

  • Don't insult a Gurkha by calling him Chinese. They are the most courageous fighters in the history of the world and have skulls of steel!

  • @chuckbuckbobuck not quite...but ya they're not chinese

  • So beautiful to see at least one Great Nation being proud of their military tradition!

And the British have not lost a war since 1777!

Beautiful uniforms, and the music just makes you shive with emotion!!!

  • 4:26 = LAGGGGGGGGGGG OW MAI GAWD XD

  • R.I.P Tom Fleming.

  • the great mix of drums and bagpipes is wonderful .. i LOVE this kind of music

    and melodys like

    Scotland the brave

    black beer

    amazing grace and

some others tunes is the BEST

  • @KONG01100 hey, I mean no disrespect but I think ya meant to say "Black BEAR" instead of BEER. I couldn't help but chuckle at that :) I so enjoy reading comments on Youtube and this video is GRRRREAT!

  • This is just awesome. I vow that at some point in my life I will make it across the pond to watch this.

  • @CannibalDave

i am from australia and have also had this wish from when i was a kid and was lucky enough to go over and this tattoo '08. had a fantastic time in Scotland

  • I love the last tune at the end whats it called please??

  • \/ Love that film.

  • Soul stirring,...IF...you have a shred of a soul

  • El Alamein where my grandfather is buried. Amazing video

  • america seams to think they can everything they even think they are releted to some1 scottish aye right. the edinburgh tattoo is the only true scottish thing that doesnt have yanks or other foregners in the bands

  • @ciarangrahan12

Well, apart from the Canadians, the Ozzies, the Nepalese and the Kiwis + a load of others. But apart from that, yeah, right, there's no foreigners

  • Watch it again, Skip2. There are two Gurkha groups (1st battalion of the GR and the Singapore Police band pipers -- who are 'Gurkhas' --1 e, Nepalis). The whole group in this video = the "massed p & d"

  • Was at this tatoo - i live in Edinburgh and hear the pipes all the time but the tatoo gets you all tingly whether you are scottish or not - I think its brilliant to see so many people from other countries lose themselves in the pipes and drums. Glad you all enjoy it, have a hunt for Black bear or the fairy dance tunes as they are amazing

  • I have been to Edinburgh but sad I have never been there to see this...but you have given me a chance to watch...thank you very much!

  • why on earth did i see a chineese man?

  • @skip2mylou05 They are Gurkas - Brave soldiers in the british army

  • @tudanski they are not Gurkas, Gurkas are their own regiment and they dont have a massed band, plus if you listen all the regiments and batallions mentioned are Scottish he doesnt mention the Gurkas once.

  • @skip2mylou05 yes he does first at 0:50

  • @skip2mylou05 He was most likely a member of the Gurkha regiment from Nepal, Oriental features, but not Chinese.

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!!! Wish I could go to one of these.

  • Scotland's up there Cornwall's down here but we play pipes and drums with rums.

Hope to see you at Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2010.

From: Bass Drummer of the Kernow pipes and drums band.

  • It's fantastic!

Military Tattoo is my lovely holiday!

  • @locomunkeeman Amen!

  • I first seen this event on my 2003 Tour of Scotland..this is a real fantastic event that you cannot forget.. Thanks for this video

  • Nothing can beat the bagpipe. This is magnificent. I bet the spectators heart rate has gone up to 100+. When and how can I get to this event & venue in future.

  • @shyml1 you obviously dont get the full effect with the castle and full uniforms, but dont discount highland games that are hosted around the world, massed bands there can be awesome too, even if its a holdover until you can get to Edinburgh :)

  • grandi cornamuse!bellissime!

  • If this doesn't stir your blood and get the hair standing on end, you are not human! Reminds me how proud I am to be Scottish. Thanks for posting.

  • WOOOO! Scotland rules! i was born in The south of England but both sides of my family are Scottish and we are all very proud.

  • @deenloon your spot on with your comments. Im proud to be scottish, there is no other nationality can match us.

  • ich muss dahin ich will das unbedingt mal mit erleben !!!!

  • Is this where the film, "Tunes Of Glory" was filmed? Looks very much like it.

    Awesome. Thanks for posting this.

  • No, "Tunes of Glory" was filmed at Stirling Castle.

I live in Stirling, and have recently put a vid on Youtube showing parts of the interior of the castle.

  • Tunes of Glory wasn't actually filmed there. It's all a set. Permission was not granted by the C.O. at the time, because he had objections about the script. The opening of the film does show Stirling Castle, but with photographic modifications. I got this info from the interview with the director that's on the DVD (Criterion Films).
