Listen everyone - Zrinski was just making an honest comment that he didn't know this was a Serbian song until I posted this record. And he was obviously referring to the melody and not the lyrics. His statement reflected the fact that he wanted to know more about the history of the song and melody, but instead of providing him with information, you've forced him into defending a position that he didn't even hold in the first place.
As far as I know this is originally an old Serbian patriotic march from around WWI. I don't think there's any debate over that really. It's interesting because these old marches were almost all inspired more by western compositions and don't really sound Serbian or Croatian in my opinion.

U say it sounds more western..perhaps..but as I only knEw the..hrm..rude word (Croatian-Slavonian) version I have regarded it as in the Vojvodinian-Slavonian tamburica tradition, if you get what I mean......... You should all really see the film "Whose is this song ? Chija je ovo pesma ? Chia e tazi pesen?" Perhaps, but only perhaps, will you understand something about music history then.... Search "Whose is this song" on google and look at it at google video and BROADEN your minds a bit!

@zrinski It is not nationalism to be angered or at least insulted if your own PATRIOTIC song is said to be a foreign song by someone who doesn't know squat about your history or anything... Wouldn't you get angry at a fool that posted that one of your songs is Finnish and kept promoting it?

If you do not understand what I am writing there must be something deeply wrong with your mental capacity. Just TRY and UNDERSTAND what I am writing and do not be clouded by your nationalism.

I had only heard the Zlatni Dukatis -croatian language- version until Kozobaric uploaded this old serbian version. I made the mistake of saying so also noting that it is one of my fav songs... big mistake....instead of spending time uploading music- yes, perhaps Serbian music- I have had to waste time trying to get people to understand..

Are you slow in the mind MarkoBGD? Firstly this is not a CD, this is and old 78 rpm record from 1925 or 1926.
Secondly, I have no doubt in my mind at all that this VERSION!!!! NOTE!!! V E R S I O N !!!!!!!!! -of the song is serbian. So I do not say that this !!!!!!!!!VERSION!!!!!!!! is croatian I say that the only !!!!!!VERSION!!!!! I knew of before was the croatian one.
Apart from the nationalistic blabbering perhaps someone good minded could tell the real story behind this folk-song, whether serbian or croatian? Someone that is interested in the history behind the song rather than the politics behind it.

1) It was the 2nd Balkan War, when cavalry was first massivelly used in battles by the Kingdom of Serbia;
2) Croatians are inspired by either Serbian or Italian, German and French; while Serbs used more from Russia, aswell as Montenegrins did :)))
