They were definitely very different bands though, and I find that the Kinks will always be the more 'adolescent' in a way. Very punk rock. Both brilliant, experimental, innovative and influencial bands though.

That's how it was for me. May I suggest The Kinks Kontroversy as a future purchase. That sealed the deal for me in regards to Kinks!
