@maiuslover sometimes you can be a soprano but with a mezzosoprano color or even can expand your register to notes under soprano's natural one even if you are a soprano. I'm a classical singer too, and at the beggining all my teachers were confused because of the deep color of my voice and how easily can manage down-notes but after a couple of years of vocal tecnique they and I realized that I'm a Dramatic-Soprano instead... well, I think (I can't deny I still get confuse sometimes too). Haha!

because of all the comments: she is a classical trained singer but not a classical trained opera singer. there is a big difference. she took some vocal lessons but hasn't studied it as far as i know. soprano just means her range not that she's an opera singer. Tarja for example is also no opera singer. she's a classical trained lied/church singer and studied it. she's good in that but not in singing an opera aria. but many ppl don't know that!

Simone Simmons is a good classically trained singer (mezzo-soprano), which means she has the range, control and talent to sing in any style she chooses from symphonic metal to opera!

Opera singers never reach there maturity or full potential until they reach there mid 30s, she`s only about 23 years old.

I could´t agree more about the fact that Simone is a classical trained singer, but i must disagree with the mezzo-soprano label, she´s a soprano as far as i´m concerned, however, this song isn´t the best to show it, but i invite you to take a look to the last Epica album, a proofe that she has reached to a much higher level in vocal training and range. Still, a 23 yo woman, and getting better with time. More beautiful as well.. hehe.

I think not. Are we listening to the same thing? She is a pop/rock singer as far as style goes. She is a long way from opera. She has trouble with breathing correctly for the opera style of singing. If I were her I would get a SLS vocal coach and drop the opera imitation crap. She would come off as more authentic if she just sang in the pop/rock style.
