  • I WOULD HAVE RENTED IT FOR 10 YEARS IN EXCHANGE OF THE NEW ONE OF COURSE.

AFTER 10 YEARS... "I'M HERE TO PICK UP MY DAD'S WATCH"...

  • What a bad exchange he made. This guy is a philistine. I would never give away a vintage watch for a new one. My best watch is a swiss made 91' Breitling Windrider Chronomat (81.950 / B13047) with a Valjoux 7750 movement, diamond bezel and steel/gold Breitling Rouleaux bracelet. All is vintage and original. I would never trade it against a modern Breitling Evolution model or something. I like my vintage Breitling watch and so this would not be a good idea and even a bad exchange.

  • What he did was far more benevolent then two new watches. Instead of thinking about himself and his family he thought about VC and it's following and how much good it would do to showcase his father's watch in VC's Museum. How much more care, and attention would the watch be given under the watchful eye of Vacheron Constatin compared to only himself and perhaps his son? Would we be able to see the very same watch throughout the centuries had it stayed with the owner and his family, I doubt it.

  • what a moron! I would have nerver given up a true vintage!

  • I would have said, "Thanks, but this was my father's watch, and one day I will hand it down to my son."

If Vacheron Constantin back for themselves, surely its value would have been greater than one fresh off the line. If he was smart, he'd have said, "Yeah, I'll trade you...but I want two new watches for it."

  • Good stuff
