I think the video is set in vintage-like theme because before, it is the norm for girls. Grow up, settle down, have kids and be a good housewife (as seen on video; the girl cleans and cooks). The dolls being burnt mean that this idea cannot always be achieved and doesn't always guarantee a happy ending. Like in the opening of the video: "Is the sweetheart you married the husband you expected him to be?) and the husband was also seen with another girl in the video.
