I attend the school in question of this video. I was at school the day this happened too. What no one tells you about this story is that the students who found the dummy rifles in Marie's car were "stoners". They had also been harassing Marie because of her political affiliation (it was a voting year), they were walking by her car because they were going to vandalize it. The police officers LET HER GO! It was security (which, two years, later still have jobs), were the ones that reported it.

However, there are conservatives who support zero tolerance policies, not just liberals. These are what I have seen called "parade rifles". They will never be functional.

I was in the JROTC in high school, the AFJROTC. Although I was never very good at armed drilling, my squadron did drill with rifles frequently.  Fortunately, my high school had a politically-balanced principal I was good friends with, and I also reside in Virginia--a fairly Conservative state overall--so I never dealt with the same issue that Young Marine did. Nobody else in my high school who was a cadet in AFJROTC ever had that issue, either.

Quite right on this. Zero tolerance is equatable with zero common sense. There is no way a dummy rifle could be used to do harm... they're props. Our local high schools use dummy rifles along with their flag corps, which marches with the band in competition and parades. They can't seriously expect this to go over well, now that its public.

Thankfully, real life sometimes goes the way it should, and her suspension won't effect her career choice. Could have easily gone the other way.
