The aircraft looks to be safe, modern, enviromentally friendly and even comfy. I didn't think I would say even half of that for Russian - built aircraft.

The only threat to the aircraft may be Bombardier CS100/300/500 it also can mess with a lot in total I think Irkut and bombardier quietly take over 30-40% of the market in the world in this segment. This may cartoons but we'll see:)

How then who will buy it? Is anyone flying Embraer 170? Quieter and more comfortable modern than a whole series of the 737th Of course, in economy class:) And this may be the Irkut will be a surprise to the market to a duopoly.

@eeti27 AeroFlot will buy them, if only from the pressure by the Russian Government. With the exception of the Tupolev planes (which are only comparable), most Soviet aircraft have historically proven inferior to Airbus & Boeing. It looks like the Russians are going to take several years to build this to focus on design and reliability issues. Russians can innovate, it will be interesting to see what they deliver and if they can do it on time.

United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) should integrate with Embraer (Brazil), Finmecanica (Italy) and Bombardier (Canada) to create an alternative to Boeing and EADS. In fact, EADS structure can be considered an example to that UAC-Embraer-Finmecanica-Bombar­dier consolidation...
