There is a mountain of evidence for this; I count at least nine just in this inter-glacial, spaced at approx 1,000yr intervals. Closer to our time, 1680-1735 saw a rise of 2c in just 55 years. (we have had 0.7c in 150 years). More recently again, there was an increase in world temperatures of 1.0c in one year (1997) and 0.8c in just 2 years (2008-2010 - this is before smoothing the data)
There is NO evidence that any of these changes can be attributed to CO2.

if you have ever studied geology, plate tectonics and global warming you might realize what will happen when antarctica defrosts. currently greenland is on record as rising out of the sea at a rate of 1 inch per year (attributed to the ice melting). antarctica will also rise out of the sea (once enough ice melts) and is connected to every tectonic plate around the world, directly or indirectly. it has the potential to crack the earths crust and makes any other issue pale in comparison.

This is because the ICE IS MELTING. They still manage to use the station periodically as the site for ice core drilling for glaciology and climate research.

Lets do some simple math here. Your number: 1500km3/8years=187.5km3/year.
Total ice on Greenland is 2.85 million cubic kilometers. 2 850 000/187.5=15200. This means all of it will melt by 12500 years from now. Horrible! I think we will get another ice age long before that!

It may be that NASA and NOAA use the satellites that require post data ground calibration adjustments so they can fudge the numbers so as to dance with the Climate Change straitjacket band. @david222444 Actually, field trials of elevated CO2, temperature, altered rainfall and the effects it has on plant/soil interactions like nitrification are demonstrating reduced yield in all of the major food grains such as wheat, rice and maize. I am talking about properly constituted field trials where they have applied realistic increased CO2 and temperature controls. Things melt or cool for a reason. If it were a natural cycle we would be able to identify the cause of the melting as such. However there are no natural forces causing warming. Instead we can clearly see that human activity is causing the warming. It has nothing to do with ice ages or the like.

There is a mountain of evidence for this; I count at least nine just in this inter-glacial, spaced at approx 1,000yr intervals. Closer to our time, 1680-1735 saw a rise of 2c in just 55 years. (we have had 0.7c in 150 years). More recently again, there was an increase in world temperatures of 1.0c in one year (1997) and 0.8c in just 2 years (2008-2010 - this is before smoothing the data)
There is NO evidence that any of these changes can be attributed to CO2.

if you have ever studied geology, plate tectonics and global warming you might realize what will happen when antarctica defrosts. currently greenland is on record as rising out of the sea at a rate of 1 inch per year (attributed to the ice melting). antarctica will also rise out of the sea (once enough ice melts) and is connected to every tectonic plate around the world, directly or indirectly. it has the potential to crack the earths crust and makes any other issue pale in comparison.

@m1aws As usual, your information is lacking that touch of reality. Dye-2 was hastily abandoned in 1988, as they believed it started to sink into the ice underneath. This is because the ICE IS MELTING. They still manage to use the station periodically as the site for ice core drilling for glaciology and climate research.

Total ice on Greenland is 2.85 million cubic kilometers. 2 850 000/187.5=15200. This means all of it will melt by 12500 years from now. Horrible! I think we will get another ice age long before that!
It is 7 meter sea level rise roughly what you would expect if the entire Greenland ice sheet melted.

It may be that NASA and NOAA use the satellites that require post data ground calibration adjustments so they can fudge the numbers so as to dance with the Climate Change straitjacket band. Others use the satellite that has a redundant but highly accurate platinum wire detectors. These are calibrated on the ground prior to launch. The raw data received can't be adulterated. Get the picture.

@david222444 Actually, field trials of elevated CO2, temperature, altered rainfall and the effects it has on plant/soil interactions like nitrification are demonstrating reduced yield in all of the major food grains such as wheat, rice and maize. Others like soybean are showing signs of reduced fertility. Simplistic statements such as "plants love it" is patently incorrect.

I am talking about properly constituted field trials where they have applied realistic increased CO2 and temperature controls. @hempartist420 Call me useless, but I'll continue to check the NOAA web site for satellite sea ice tracking, check on methane emissions from melting arctic tundra, check meteorology web sites for global mean temperatures, and I will continue to make sure that I have a small personal carbon footprint just in case those that believe in anthropogenic global warming is true. I personally think that it is likely that all of the CO2 released since the industrial revolution...

@trueleroix I personally think that all of the CO2 released since the industrial revolution is very likely to bring about change, but it is yet to be seen what this will create ranging from run-away cooling to nothing to run-away warming. There are too many variables for a person to honestly say that they know that warming is being caused by man. I will continue to deny it while being earth conscious, and I really don't care if my dedication to real science hinders your political goals.

Things melt or cool for a reason. If it were a natural cycle we would be able to identify the cause of the melting as such. However there are no natural forces causing warming. Instead we can clearly see that human activity is causing the warming. It has nothing to do with ice ages or the like.

@rugbyguy59 The simplified answer; the sun. Our orbit is not perfectly straight, sometimes we will be closer to the sun and other times we will be farther from the sun. The sun also effects Co2 in other ways but thats one of the main things

A couple dozen studies say it isn't the sun. The sun has been dimmer since 1980. If it was up to the sun it would be slightly cooler than in 1980
We know about Milankovitch cycles. (the orbit irregularities) They are predictable and we aren't expecting a change due to them for another 10000 yrs plus
The sun affects CO2? It can but it isn't right now. We can measure the isotopes of CO2. The extra CO2 is coming from fossil fuel

Solar activity and pole shift is the greater climate change cause, you can see it on this video, the Ice caps are forming in different areas and melting in different areas. Solar cycles do not explain the recent temperature rise. The last decade saw diminishing solar output, yet it was the hottest decade in modern times.

We know that atmospheric CO2 increase is from fossil fuels, because the concentration of carbon-13 in the atmosphere is decreasing, and fossil fuels are carbon-13 depleted. Go ahead, deny that!

While its illuminating to see how you're trying to terrify people, the actual IPCC prediction is on the order of 30 cm of sea level rise over the next century -- with at least 9cm of that due to non-anthropogenic causes. That means that -- even if the IPCC is right - we're talking about about one FOOT of sea level rise per CENTURY.
Holland managed to protect itself from more than six feet of sea level using 18th century technology. With 21st century tech, we can't handle 1/6 that? Nonsense

@fudgedogbannana you were experiancing a cooling due to the minimum sunspot activity of 3 years ago (i.e. less solar radiation = pacific ocean cooling off). as we return to normal sunspot activity the pacific ocean again warms up and as it flows around the pacific it will once again get hot in CA. the BIG picture here is it is getting warmer GLOBALLY and a snowflake in LA doesnt constitute a cooling trend.

Barring an about face by nature or adjustments, it appears that for the first time since 2001, Arctic Sea ice will hit the normal line as defined by the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) for this time of year.
Could the ABC please send alarmist Marian Wilkinson back up to the Arctic to file an update on this report of 2009:

NSF - March 4, 2010.
Research results, published in the March 5 edition of the journal Science, show that the permafrost under the East Siberian Arctic Shelf, long thought to be an impermeable barrier sealing in methane, is perforated and is starting to leak large amounts of methane into the atmosphere. Release of even a fraction of the methane stored in the shelf could trigger abrupt climate warming.

If you get your science from politicians with political agendas and disregard the scientific community you will support political extremist science. Fear is a tool to advance political agendas. Marginal research on the other side is all that is required. More credible scientists and hard data ARE on the other side. Continents drift. One side of the continent is COOLING while one side is warming. This is the coldest winter in the last 100 years. This will make some people rich.

Tell me why Antarctic sea ice extent recently hit an all time high.
Many parts of Antarctic will warm. Others will cool. Climate changes. weather changes even more. I am sick of everything being blamed on my lightbulbs.
