@HershelAlan Your faith bothers/scares me because people do insane things in the name of their faith everyday. I grew up in a faith healing cult. Children I knew then are dead now because of their parents' faith. Do you remember the 9-11 attacks? I do. It wasn't non-believers flying planes into buildings for their non-beliefs. Belief is a powerful force, often fanned to hatred, anger and violence by clergy and by religious texts.

They take their own church tour groups through the museum, so people won't learn anything real while they're there. I was a Christian for 20+ years. I went to church, read my Bible, prayed and even went to church camp as a kid. Then the more I thought about God and heard people talk about how wonderful he is the more I shook my head. Millions dying and suffering and people say he is love? Give me a break. You know when you'd come home from church and take off your church clothes and put on a t-shirt and jeans? That's what shedding those religious views was for me. A nice "ahhhhh" feeling.

@jraposo That's a hard question to answer (mostly because I'm a protein biochemist and not a neuroscientist). There's evidence to explain that we're not the only ones who possess such critical thinking and cognitive skills.Science can only explain how we have evolved this way with supported theories. To venture out further and ask why we're the only ones would mean receiving a philosophical answer. It would be like asking "why are we here?"

I agree, not believing in a god, or in a hell just makes me feel so free and happier. Religion never really made sense to me, even when i was a kid and when i realized that i could choose not to believe, i felt so good. I have been lucky though that my family is really open that way, yes they are Christians, but they are open minded, and really good, smart people, so yeah i have been really lucky for that.

History by definition can't be tested or repeated.

For all the "came to fulfill the law", "whosoever believeth", "my grace is sufficient for you", "new covenant" "not even one is righteous", the NT is certainly the OT minus the sin offerings/sacrifices. That is evidenced by "faith without works", "unforgiven sin", "trampling/there remains no sacrifice for sign", and the plagues and "book of life" of Revelation 22 are interesting too. Further, "believeth in Him"? He said and did a lot.

Children I knew then are dead now because of their parents' faith. Do you remember the 9-11 attacks? I do. It wasn't non-believers flying planes into buildings for their non-beliefs. Belief is a powerful force, often fanned to hatred, anger and violence by clergy and by religious texts.
I turn to REAL people in times of need, not imaginary gods.

When you have some time research societies throughout history that were officially atheist & I guarantee you will find that freedom was always sacrificed and people were slaughtered. Stalin alone killed 20 million out of the 90 million+ that died during the secular wars of the 20th century, over Fascism, Communions Nazism, etc. In contrast 2000 people were executed during three hundred year Spanish inquisition.

I'm pretty sure Angie knows how she feels so why are you trying to tell her? The attempts that a lot of people on Youtube use to "convert" people to Christianity (and other religions) is really shameful and it's a TURNOFF.

In fact, at 8 years old, I went to a whole week of Vacation Bible School with friends and I couldn't understand a single thing that was going on. I just remember arts and crafts. Anyway, as I got older, I realized what a crock of shit religion as a whole was and rejected it. People want to condemn me for everything from my disability to just my non belief in their fairytale religion.

I don't miss anything you're positing here, nor do I miss the stupor of taking any idea whatsoever (be it faith related or atheistic) and reduce it to the standard of its most stupid members. In fact I don't miss reductionism or the whole idea of 'anti' at all. I certainly don't miss who laugh with a 2000 years old execution. You want to understand history? Read a history book, not C. I was a Christian for 20+ years. I went to church, read my Bible, prayed and even went to church camp as a kid. Then the more I thought about God and heard people talk about how wonderful he is the more I shook my head. Millions dying and suffering and people say he is love? Give me a break. You know when you'd come home from church and take off your church clothes and put on a t-shirt and jeans? That's what shedding those religious views was for me. A nice "ahhhhh" feeling.

very confuse at this point in my life, I Respect what everybody believes, but for more lack of evidence, I still kind of believe, I know for sure religions are bullshit, full of non sense garbage, but I look around life, feelings, individual personalities, how in a world with million of species only humans are capable of rational thinking with no other coming not even close, how earth is accidentally in the right place in universe to gather all conditions for life to exist, I'm really confused

@jraposo That's a hard question to answer (mostly because I'm a protein biochemist and not a neuroscientist). There's evidence to explain that we're not the only ones who possess such critical thinking and cognitive skills.Science can only explain how we have evolved this way with supported theories. To venture out further and ask why we're the only ones would mean receiving a philosophical answer. It would be like asking "why are we here?"

The idea of Heaven as being this paradise in the sky is symbolic, just as Hell is symbolic. Hell is being eternally separated from God, complete and total 'Aloneness'. Child murderers likely will suffer eternal damnation, not because of what they did, but because they traded their souls.

Another thing,if naturalism is all that exists,then good and evil also dsn't exist,as many well know atheists have acknowledged.To claim that it does means you are borrowing from a Christian world view.If there is no God then any and everything is permissible,from murder to bestiality.The only thing that would limit anyones behavior would be their personal preferences.If atheists ran a country it would be hypocrisy to have any prisons or judicial systems since every one would be their own god.

In nature.. those words have no value. Is the lion evil for hunting it's prey? Of course not the lion needs to feed! Hence there is no evil in it's actions just need.

I still believe in God but i certainly agree with "banking on reality". You have senses and brain weather God gave them to you or nature, they are meant to be used. I will say i have experienced spiritual senses. But since what i experienced spiritually cant be proven to anybody else, its kinda pointless for me to try to convince an atheist that the spiritual experiences happened.

What do I miss(besides my family,since like Angie's,they chose their imaginary friend over me)?I miss the customs,the sense of tradition and the link to something older and greater than myself.I miss the sense of community,and it often pains me around holidays that I have nothing to offer my sons in terms of tradition since all of it is religious.But the actual faith and guilt?Feeling like there's someone in your head,monitoring your very thoughts 24/7?Nope,don't miss that at all.

I agree, not believing in a god, or in a hell just makes me feel so free and happier. Religion never really made sense to me, even when i was a kid and when i realized that i could choose not to believe, i felt so good. I have been lucky though that my family is really open that way, yes they are Christians, but they are open minded, and really good, smart people, so yeah i have been really lucky for that.

The scientific method requires that a researcher look at events in the real world, develops a(n) hypothesis or a set of hypotheses about the cause of the event and sets up controlled experiments to test the hypotheses. History by definition can't be tested or repeated.
Wiki the Historical method to know how real historians determine the likelihood of past events. That way you & "RubixWizz199109 " can argue using an objective standard.
