@sml8060sound It's my pleasure to share this great music and it makes me really happy to see someone else discover the inimitable master Steve Lacy. I'll try to upload some more from this album when I can.
I concur with the below. Many, many thanks. Lacy straight up (meaning no chordal accomp.), which brings to mind his incomparable "Straight Horn" on Contemporary (?) with the definitive renderings of Cecil Taylor's "Louise" (which should be considered for Real Book status) and Monk's ridiculously neglected "Introspection." Does anyone remember J. Zorn's duck call version of "Shuffle Boil" from an oft critically despised Monk anthology, c. 1984 ...?
Hey SaxHero: Thanks so much for posing this!!!! This is my all-time favorite Steve Lacy interpretation of this tune: I love Monk's music. I remember getting the Reflections album on vinyl. It was probably my 3rd jazz record and was just blown away! Elvin Jones, Mal Waldron, Buell Neidlinger played on it, and I was floored! But my roommate gave me this album, and this tune tops even the entire Reflections album!!! In my humble opinion...
This is fucking awesome!!!!! thanks for opening my ears.....truly one of the greatest trio cuts i have ever heard......
