I was told by a former practioner that santeria is a combo of catholicism and voodoo. When the slaves in the carribean were forced from their African voodoo rituals to catholicism, eventually both were mixed . The "spirits" were given saints' names. I was also told by this former "priestess" who became saved, that many mental illnessess arrive generations later in those families that had practiced santeria, a "generational" curse/ Jesus saved her and she helps other tormented souls become free!

creo que no es un lugar para dar clases, pero la razón porque en casa del santero no se prenden cuatro velas juntas, es la siguiente. Las cuatro velas, acompañan la caja del muerto uno en cada esquina, y para no llamar iku, dentro de la casa se pueden tenerhasta tres velas encendias pero no más. Depende de lo que quieras aprender, La Santeria en Cuba es diferente a la de Santeria Africana(Yoruba)Cada lugar tiene sus propias leyendas sobre los orishas. Nomas que esto nunca se debe de confundir con Voodoo, eso es otra religion aparte. Te recomiendo que leas el libro de "Rituals and Spells of Santeria" by Migene Gonzalez-Wippler. Hay varias religiones que tienen los orishas y otro tipo de religion mesclada, asi que depende de la religion que te quieras meterte,esas van a hacer las leyendas

A. the guy doing this is a clown, mixing and matching what he wants.
B. If we're going to hell, how is this different then believing in some guy heals lepers with his touch, feeds thousands of people magically with one loaf of bread an done fish, who dies then comes back to life. Or that Abraham lived to be 160 years old? hell? do you even read your own bible? There are lots crazy ass stories that are far more unbelievable then this...
